“Already preparations are advancing, and movements are in progress, which will result in making an image to the beast” (Review and Herald, April 23, 1889).
There is an old saying that states that if a lie is told often enough; people will eventually come to believe it. [1] Once more, this popular saying has proven to be true. On November 17, 2022, the Pew Research Center released some startling statistics that revealed that 68% of Evangelical Protestants who identify with the GOP and Republicans believe that the earth is getting hotter, while only 32% are either not sure or unconvinced.
“About a third of evangelical Protestants say the Earth is getting warmer mostly due to human activity (32%), while similar shares say the Earth is getting warmer mostly due to natural patterns (36%) or that they are unsure or not convinced the Earth is getting warmer (32%). Meanwhile, members of non-Christian religions and people who do not identify with any religion – particularly self-described atheists and agnostics – consistently express the highest levels of concern about climate change. Other Christian subgroups, such as Catholics, generally fall somewhere in between. These patterns are heavily influenced by politics. Evangelical Protestants largely identify with the GOP, and Republicans are less likely than the overall public to say the Earth’s warming is mostly caused by human activity.” [2]
What is influencing the statistics? Politics. And who influences politics? Who has an impact on both Democrats and Republicans in the US government? Rome. There is a reason why the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), a very powerful organization under the direction of the Vatican, is strategically situated in Washington, DC, only three miles from our US Capitol. There is a reason why Saint John Paul II has a National Shrine and a Cultural Center that are also located just 3 miles from our US Capitol. Why is Georgetown Jesuit University situated only four miles from the same US Capitol? And why is the American Catholic University also located just 3.5 miles from the US Capitol Building?
Why are the US Congress, White House, and the Supreme Court of the United States surrounded by an unprecedented Roman Catholic presence? Do not be misled; this is not an accident. They are there to convey Rome’s message on politics and public policy. These Catholic institutions are not there to represent anyone in America. No, they exist to deliver to the US Congress, our legislative body, the legislative agenda of Rome, the Antichrist.
Every year, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) presents a list of priorities for our US Congress. [3] Rome’s agents in Washington, DC, have unprecedented and unfettered access to the political elite in our nation, including the US President, his legal advisors, and other policymakers. This is nothing new for Rome. The Pope, through his cardinals, bishops, and other agents, has been hard at work trying to shape US public policy for decades. And to a large degree, he has been successful in securing two things: power and influence.
In the video below, you will see a historical event that took place for the first time in the United States, a so-called Protestant nation. The Pope of Rome got a standing ovation at a joint meeting of Congress at the U.S. Capitol, attended by both the House and Senate, including both Republicans and Democrats.
Inspiration tells us that the “professed Protestant world” will form “a confederacy with the man of sin” (Selected Messages, Book 2, p. 367). But who will force this union? There is no need to guess. We have been told exactly who will do this:
“Yet under one head—the papal power—the people will unite to oppose God in the person of His witnesses. This union is cemented by the great apostate” (Testimonies, Vol. 7 p. 182).
Rome cements the union. How does she do it? Again, we don’t have to guess. Inspiration tells us how:
“She made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. Rev. 14:6-8. How is this done? By forcing men to accept a spurious Sabbath” (Testimonies, Vol. 8, p. 94).
Why is the world, including GOP Evangelical Protestants, drunk on Rome’s climate change agenda? Simply put, the Vatican has been actively promoting this message to the entire world through all of its networks and agents. But let’s be very clear: the Pope’s climate encyclical has never been about the weather; it’s all about maintaining Sunday as the day of rest. That is precisely what Catholics are saying as they link the Pope’s climate message to the importance of observing Sunday as God’s Sabbath day of rest:
1. The US Catholic published the following on July 14, 2022, in an article titled “Why I Pledge to Embrace Sabbath Rest.” It says this pledge came because of Laudato Si’:
“Practicing the Sabbath more fully can offer a deeper way to root self-care in a spirituality of contemplation.” [4]
“While ‘Keep holy the Sabbath’ is often taken as a reminder to go to Sunday Mass, the Sabbath is much more. At the end of the creation story, God rests. In the letter to the Hebrews, we are called to embrace this same practice for a ‘sabbath rest still remains for the people of God’ (4:9), who are called to strive for God’s Sabbath. In the 2015 encyclical Laudato Si’ (On Care for Our Common Home), Pope Francis reminds us that rest opens our eyes to the larger picture and gives us renewed sensitivity to the rights of others. And so the day of rest, centered on the Eucharist, sheds [its] light on the whole week.” [4]
“Although I am terrible at resting, this summer I pledge to try embracing Sabbath rest. It is only in habituating Sabbath in its fullness, as a regular and not exceptional part of human life, that we can fully embrace the deeper spirituality of contemplation to which Pope Francis calls us.” [4]
Even though Pope Francis’ climate change encyclical, Laudato Si’, promotes Sunday as the day of rest in Section #237, this is nothing new. Sunday is part of the wine of Babylon, and this is what Pope Francis has been promoting from day one of his pontificate, even without Laudato Si’.
2. The New York Times also revealed that Pope Francis is doing what the Evangelicals used to do – promote Sunday rest:
“Pope Francis replies: “Together with a culture of work, there must be a culture of leisure as gratification. To put it another way: people who work must take the time to relax, to be with their families, to enjoy themselves, read, listen to music, play a sport. But this is being destroyed, in large part, by the elimination of the Sabbath rest day. More and more people work on Sundays as a consequence of the competitiveness imposed by a consumer society.” In such cases, he concludes, “work ends up dehumanizing people.” [5]
“Catholic social teaching is known for promoting the idea that workers deserve dignity, which includes rest. But Pope Francis seems to be saying something more: that an authentically Christian life includes a proper dose of leisure and family time … The idea of a Catholic exalting the Sabbath sounds particularly peculiar in the American context. In the United States, Catholics were never the great proponents of Sabbatarianism, observing Sunday as a special day, for worship or rest. That was a Protestant thing.” [5]
“From the moment the Puritans arrived, they began enforcing laws to reserve Sunday for churchgoing. Over time, what came to be called “blue laws” covered different activities, and varied by state.” [5]
“But in Catholicism, as Pope Francis suggests, the Sabbath actually is supposed to matter — the whole day, not just Mass.” [5]
“The Catholic Church has been recovering this teaching at least since 1998, when Pope John Paul II published his apostolic letter “Dies Domini.” [5]
3. Pope Francis has openly promoted Sunday rest as part of God’s moral law during general audiences at the Vatican:
“Joining tourists and faithful in St Peter’s Square on Wednesday, Pope Francis during his General Audience focused on the Commandment, ‘Remember to keep holy the Lord’s Day’.” [6]
“The Pope told those gathered that resting on Sunday was not “a mere escape or diversion, but a command to imitate God himself, who on the seventh day rested from his works and contemplated the goodness of his creation.” [6]
4. Back in 2014, before he published his climate encyclical, Pope Francis said that not working on Sunday was good, and not just for the “faithful”:
“Pope Francis has lamented the abandoning of the traditionally Christian practice of not working on Sundays, saying it has a negative impact on families and friendships. Francis on Saturday traveled to Molise, an agricultural region in the heart of southern Italy where unemployment is chronically high. While he said poor people need jobs to have dignity, he indicated that opening stores and other businesses on Sundays as a way to create jobs wasn’t beneficial for society. [7]
He added: “Maybe it’s time to ask ourselves if working on Sundays is true freedom.” He said that spending Sundays with family and friends is an “ethical choice” for faithful and non-faithful alike. [7]
5. Then, in 2017, Pope Francis said that everyone needs two things: Sunday and the Eucharist.
“Just like a plant needs sun and nourishment to survive, every Christian needs the light of Sunday and the sustenance of the Eucharist to truly live, Pope Francis said. ‘How can we carry out the Gospel without drawing the energy needed to do it, one Sunday after another, from the limitless source of the Eucharist,’ he said Dec. 13 during his weekly general audience.” [8]
“Sunday Mass is the time and place Christians receive the grace and strength to remain faithful to his word, follow his commandment to love others and be credible witnesses in the world.” [8]
“What kind of Sunday is it for a Christian if an encounter with the Lord is missing? he asked in his main talk. Unfortunately, in many secularized countries, the Christian meaning of the day has been lost and is no longer illuminated by the Eucharist or lived as a joyous feast in communion with other parishioners and in solidarity with others, he said.” [8]
“ ‘Also often missing is the importance of Sunday as a day of rest, which is a sign of the dignity of living as children of God, not slaves,’ he said. ‘Without Christ, we are condemned to be dominated by the fatigue of daily life with all its worries and the fear of tomorrow. The Sunday encounter with the Lord gives us the strength to live today with confidence and courage and to move forward with hope,’ he said.” [8]
Promoting Sunday rest as a moral obligation has been part of Pope Francis’ message. He doesn’t need the climate crisis to push for Sunday. However, he did include Sunday rest in Laudato Si’ #237, which wasn’t unexpected given that the Pope is dispensing the wine of Babylon as prophecy predicted he would. Even so, the underlying message of Laudato Si’ is Sunday rest; the rest of the document is filler and full of words meant to distract readers. Pope Francis’ message on climate change is consistent with his ongoing efforts to advance Sunday as a day of rest.
“Rome never changes. Her principles have not altered in the least. She has not lessened the breach between herself and Protestants; they have done all the advancing” (Signs of the Times, February 19, 1894).
“And let it be remembered, it is the boast of Rome that she never changes. The principles of Gregory VII and Innocent III are still the principles of the Romish Church. And had she but the power, she would put them in practice with as much vigor now as in past centuries” (Great Controversy, p. 580).
“Rome never changes. She claims infallibility. It is Protestantism that will change. The adoption of liberal ideas on its part will bring it where it can clasp the hand of Catholicism” (Review and Herald, June 1, 1886).
How will Protestants clasp the hand of Catholicism? By adopting “liberal ideas.” We are seeing this play out before our eyes. Three times, inspiration declares that Rome has never changed and will never change. Does that mean that Pope Francis is the same as the other Popes who came before him? Absolutely. The underlying principle of Pope Francis’ message has not changed. Rome’s methods and appearance will change. She might alter her demeanor and manner, but never her core message. Once more, inspiration informs us that Rome will seem to change its stance in order to “gain influence.”
“In those countries where Catholicism is not in the ascendancy, and the papists are taking a conciliatory course in order to gain influence” (Great Controversy, p. 563).
“Popery is just what prophecy declared that she would be, the apostasy of the latter times. It is a part of her policy to assume the character which will best accomplish her purpose; but beneath the variable appearance of the chameleon, she conceals the invariable venom of the serpent” (Great Controversy, p. 571).
Pope Francis has achieved this with both his papacy and his message on climate change. He puts on a “fair front,” but the venom is hidden beneath. What is Laudato Si’s superficial message? Climate. What is Laudato Si’s core message? Once you can see through the Jesuit smokescreens, the real message of Laudato Si’ is Sunday sacredness and policy changes that would fundamentally alter the political, economic, and social structures of the world and foster a new sense of unity and solidarity. All of these fit what inspiration tells us and have overtones of the Mark of the Beast.
“The Romish Church now presents a fair front to the world, covering with apologies her record of horrible cruelties. She has clothed herself in Christ-like garments; but she is unchanged. Every principle of popery that existed in past ages exists today. The doctrines devised in the darkest ages are still held. Let none deceive themselves. The popery that Protestants are now so ready to honor is the same that ruled the world in the days of the Reformation, when men of God stood up, at the peril of their lives, to expose her iniquity” (Great Controversy, p. 570).
Evangelical Protestants are accepting the Pope’s message in greater numbers. This is nothing new; we’ve seen it before. Rome is a queen (Revelation 18:7), and the apostate Protestant churches are her daughters. We know how the mother-daughter relationship works (see Matthew 14:6–11). The daughter (Salome) was just a pawn, doing the work for the queen mother (Herodias). Who is the most dangerous piece on Satan’s chessboard? What’s the more dangerous weapon? The pawns or the queen?
Yes, the daughters will carry out all of the work, just like the pawns they are. The daughters will dance soon, indeed. Yes, the daughters will once more demand a silver platter with the heads of the Elijah messengers. And because she will only do so because she is carrying out the queen mother’s instructions, the daughters will take the heads and present them to the queen (read Matthew 14:6–11). Why did this tragedy happen? Because King Herod was drunk!
Today “all the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.” Revelation 17:2. Yes, the Evangelical Protestants are drunk as well. They are sipping from the wine of Babylon, and are returning to Rome, where they will continue to serve as pawns to carry out her will.
I want to conclude with just one more point that will clarify the role of Rome, the role of the Evangelical Protestants, and the role of the United States. Evangelical Protestantism is a religious faith or a denomination. The United States is a nation. However, when we are talking about Rome, we are not dealing with just a religion. Rome is not just an institution. Rome is not just a political philosophy like communism or socialism. When we are talking about Rome, we are not just dealing with some form of government or nation. My brothers and sisters, no. We are dealing with what the Bible describes in all capital letters as:
“MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” Revelation 17:5.
We are dealing with the mother of all harlots and the mother of all abominations of the earth. All means all. This characterization describes something far worse than fascism, communism, globalism, monarchism, emperor worship, populism, and nationalism combined! The first beast of Revelation 13, Rome, is depicted as an amalgamation of every abomination on earth:
“And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.” Revelation 13:2.
If there is an abomination, Rome knows it very well, and she will say and act in any way necessary for her to come out on top. No one will be allowed to undermine her power, authority, or interfere with her ultimate goals, including Pope Francis himself. We are dealing with a system that is responsible for all the blood that was shed on the earth, including the future Mark of the Beast crisis (Revelation 18:24). That’s what God says. We are dealing with the Antichrist, “Satan’s right-hand man” (7BC p. 910). That’s what Ellen White says.
We are not dealing with just a form of deception; no, we are dealing with Satan’s master plan of deception, which he will employ to win over everyone and have them worship and honor him. Rome has no equal in terms of ambition, abomination, betrayal, hypocrisy, or deception. She is the bride of Satan, just like the Remnant Church is the bride of Christ. Rome, meanwhile, is acting exactly as she ought to be acting—even with the current pope in charge—by calling for peace and unity while secretly plotting global tyranny. The reason why there are so many misunderstandings today is because we have been confused about her power, seat, authority, trickery, stealth, personality, and nature.
Pope Francis’ work is historic, as evidenced by the standing ovation he received at a joint session of Congress held at the U.S. Capitol and his efforts to unite all religions, including spiritualism, on a common ground, which is necessary for the formation of the image of the beast:
“When the leading churches of the United States, uniting upon such points of doctrine as are held by them in common, shall influence the State to enforce their decrees and to sustain their institutions, then Protestant America will have formed an image of the Roman hierarchy, and the infliction of civil penalties upon dissenters will inevitably result.” (Great Controversy, p. 445).
None of Pope Francis’ predecessors did more to bring the entire world together in human fraternity and solidarity. None of his recent predecessors have emphasized the “urgent need of a true world political authority” to manage the global economy, establish peace, and provide food security (Laudato Si’ #175). Pope Francis, the Jesuit Pope, has been called a “super pope” [9] and a “rock star pope” [10] and has been embraced by more people than ever before for “saying and doing things that no other pope has done before.” [10]
“If every soldier of Christ had done his duty, if every watchman on the walls of Zion had given the trumpet a certain sound, the world might ere this have heard the message of warning. But the work is years behind. While men have slept, Satan has stolen a march upon us” (Testimonies, Vol. 9, p. 29).
Undoubtedly, Satan has placed himself in an advantageous position, and we, as God’s people, are trying to catch up. Any Seventh-day Adventist who asserts that the current Pope must be dismissed because he is not the true Pope, that Rome is not currently carrying out its prophetic function, or that we must wait for some future Pope, has fallen victim to the Jesuits’ deception. They are unaware of how Jesuits operate. Rome doesn’t change, but unfortunately, there are those in our day who believe their wisdom surpasses that of the inspired words of God.

Brother Andy, you are known for excellent reporting, and I believe you’ve made a typographical mistake in this presentation. An excellent writeup, from which I will extract some data, however, your statement that 68% of Republicans is inaccurate. It would be more accurate to say 68% of Democrats, for this what Pew says:
“Most members of non-Christian religions (72%), religious “nones” (70%) and members of historically Black Protestant churches (68%) view global climate change as an extremely or very serious problem…”
As you can appreciate, between 85 and 90% of “historically Black Protestants” identify as Democrats in the USA, not Republicans! So, I’d encourage you to at least revise the title of this page to be in conformance with reality on the ground. Speaking of Democrats vs. Republicans, the same report notes:
“Democrats are about three times as likely as Republicans to say the Earth is getting warmer mostly due to human activity (77% vs. 24%).”
Clearly a majority of Republicans~76% do not hold to the climate change narrative that is spouted by the woke Democrats.
Thanks a lot for your great research in putting this article together.
Andy Roman says
According to Pew Research, 32% of Evangelicals think that human activity is causing global warming, while 36% think that it is a natural phenomenon. In any case, that means that 68% of GOP Evangelicals agree with the Pope’s climate catastrophe or are at the very least sympathetic to it.
Blessings!
