On January 25, 2021, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican Secretary of State, sent a message on behalf of Pope Francis to the 2021 Climate Action Summit, urging world leaders to take an “unprecedented collective response” to combat climate change. In his message to the heads of state, Cardinal Pietro Parolin even quoted a passage from the Pope’s encyclical, Laudato Si’. The Pope’s representative stated the following:
“We are standing before a momentous challenge for the benefit of the common good. We have no alternative but to make every effort to implement a responsible, unprecedented collective response, intended to work together to build our common home. On behalf of his holiness Pope Francis, I express my best wishes for this Climate Adaptation Summit hoping that it will be fruitful and successful.” (Paragraphs 8, 9) [1]
The Vatican Secretary of State also read the following quote from Laudato Si’:
“We all know that climate change is a global problem with grave implications: environmental, social, economic, political, and for the distribution of goods. It represents one of the principal challenges facing humanity in our day.” (Paragraph 2) [1]
This was the Pope’s message to the “high level summit” attended by the United States Special Climate Envoy John Kerry, China’s Deputy Prime Minister Han Zheng, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and other leaders at the “Climate Adaptation Summit” (January 25-26, 2021) in the Netherlands. [2]
Rome continues to pressure world leaders to adopt Laudato Si’. The Vatican won’t stop until Sunday becomes the universal day of rest for the environment. They call this the most important issue facing our world. The churches support this. The scientific community is on board. Politicians, bankers and business leaders are joining the climate movement. They’re all in agreement. And the Vatican is orchestrating plans and solutions to deal with the “climate change crisis” with the support of the entire international community.
It’s coming, ready or not. Sunday laws will eventually be passed. It’s just a matter of time. We have been given clear instructions about the terrible crisis that will come upon the world and upon the people of God. Our world is being divided into two classes. Some will remain true to the truth of God and to His work; while others will abandon the faith and yield to the “powers that be” (mandatory church closures, no singing in church, Covid-19 mandates, mandatory vaccinations, ecumenism, Sunday laws, etc.) during the crisis leading to the mark of the beast:
“The time is not far distant when the test will come to every soul. The mark of the beast will be urged upon us. Those who have step by step yielded to worldly demands and conformed to worldly customs will not find it a hard matter to yield to the powers that be, rather than subject themselves to derision, insult, threatened imprisonment, and death. The contest is between the commandments of God and the commandments of men. In this time the gold will be separated from the dross in the church. True godliness will be clearly distinguished from the appearance and tinsel of it. Many a star that we have admired for its brilliancy will then go out in darkness. Chaff like a cloud will be borne away on the wind, even from places where we see only floors of rich wheat” (Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 81).
What a sad picture is presented here. There will be prominent church leaders, preachers and educators whom people love and trust who will be swept away in the end-time apostasy. If we are careless and indifferent, if we embrace the spirit of compromise, if the truth does not sanctify us daily, if we choose the easy popular side, we will be found among the enemies of God’s people. With sadness of heart we see that these prophecies of the “shaking” among God’s people are already being fulfilled. Some have already crossed over and in the near future, many more will follow suit.
As the world prepares for the mark of the beast (Laudato Si’), as wickedness increases and as the professed followers of Christ are seduced into the ranks of the enemy (Fratelli Tutti), let us praise the Lord that it will not be everyone:
“Not all in this world have taken sides with the enemy against God. Not all have become disloyal. There are a faithful few who are true to God; for John writes: ‘Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.’ Revelation 14:12. Soon the battle will be waged fiercely between those who serve God and those who serve Him not. Soon everything that can be shaken will be shaken, that those things that cannot be shaken may remain.” (Testimonies, Vol. 9, pp. 15, 16).
“Fearful tests and trials await the people of God. The spirit of war is stirring the nations from one end of the earth to the other. But in the midst of the time of trouble that is coming,—a time of trouble such as has not been since there was a nation,—God’s chosen people will stand unmoved. Satan and his host cannot destroy them, for angels that excel in strength will protect them” (Testimonies, Vol. 9, p. 17).
What a glorious promise to know that God has faithful men and women who will “stand unmoved.” Knowing these things, let us determine that we will daily seek to walk with God and proclaim His truth. Let us live in harmony with the profession of our faith, Revelation 14:6-12. Instead of worrying about the future, let us rejoice knowing that if we are faithful today, God will help us to stand firm in the coming crisis when the majority abandon us:
“Let opposition arise, let bigotry and intolerance again bear sway, let persecution be kindled, and the half-hearted and hypocritical will waver and yield the faith; but the true Christian will stand firm as a rock, his faith stronger, his hope brighter, than in days of prosperity” (Great Controversy, p. 602)
