Pope Francis Says that Interfaith Unity Must Recognize the “Specific Ministry of the Bishop of Rome”

The Pope is working overtime to unite all the world’s religions into one family. The path to interfaith cooperation and unity that the Pope is pushing is one that will make all churches recognize the primacy of the papacy. This is what Pope Francis has stated in the video above, which is a collection of statements he has made on the subject of Christian unity. The Pope said:

“Here I reiterate the hope already expressed by my predecessors for a continued dialog with all our brothers and sisters in Christ, aimed at finding a means of exercising the specific ministry of the Bishop of Rome, which in fidelity to his mission, can be open to a new situation and can be, in the present context, a service of love and of compassion acknowledged by all” (YouTube Video).

It is no mystery that Pope Francis is also asking the churches to lay aside their theological differences, because according to Rome, the truth is not important. The problem with setting aside the truth and acknowledging the supremacy of the papacy is that this will lead to the healing of the deadly wound (Revelation 13:3) and the worship of the dragon (Satan). Prophecy warns us of an end-time, one-world church that will worship the dragon, the beast, and eventually receive the mark of the beast (Revelation 13:3, 4, 16). This is the true “specific ministry” of Rome that we must acknowledge.

God’s word clearly says that biblical truth is important. The way we worship is also important. We cannot at any time ignore the truth of God. Be careful when someone tells you that biblical truth should be ignored for the sake of Christian unity:

“Ye worship ye know not what…but the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth” John 4:22-24.

A new era of cooperation and unity has begun. But the unity that is expressed here is one that claims that differences do not exist or are not that important. There is no Bible study taking place here, there is no repentance, there is no confession of sin and apostasy is not being addressed. In Rome’s family, it doesn’t matter what your belief system is, or if you believe in damnable heresies, or even if your doctrines are blasphemous against God. Obviously, this is not a unity that honors God. We cannot be part of a universal fraternity that has replaced sound doctrine with the doctrines of devils:

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.” 1 Timothy 4:1.

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” 2 Timothy 4:3, 4.

“Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power” (Maranatha, p. 216).

Seventh-day Adventists were not raised as a people to grasp the hand of Romanism. We were raised to give a very special warning message to the world. It is the messages contained in Revelation 14:6-12 that need to be heard in every Adventist pulpit and in every corner of the world more than ever before. There is great urgency for God’s people to move forward with these special messages because the whole world is truly wondering after the beast in search of unity. This is causing many to abandon God’s distinctive end-time biblical truths for the sake of grasping the hand of Rome.
