Texas Health Hospital in Mansfield, TX is a “joint venture” between AdventHealth, a Seventh-day Adventist health care system, and Texas Health Resources, a Protestant health care organization. [1] They hosted an interfaith week of spiritual renewal called “The Healer.” Adventists, Baptists, Pentecostals, and non-denominational leaders participated in this event, which concluded with an ecumenical “communion” on Good Friday.
Dr. Elton DeMoraes, President of the Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists; Whitney Barth, pastor of More Church (Assemblies of God/Pentecostal) [2]; Dr. Michael Evans, senior pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church [3]; Greg Buckles, pastor of Mansfield Bible Church (non-denominational) [4]; and Dr. Allan Martin, pastor of the Arlington SDA Church were all featured speakers.

A Allan Martin is an adjunct professor at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary and a pastor in the Texas Conference. He shares highlights from the interfaith week of spiritual renewal in the post above and describes the interfaith communion of Good Friday. This same Seventh-day Adventist pastor refers to the Baptist pastor as “Reverend” in the post below.

“The Healer” was the theme of this spiritual renewal week. What are they supposed to be healing? It’s a lot more than they realize. They’re working to help heal centuries-old divisions between the churches. They’re breaking down the barriers that once separated Seventh-day Adventists from the rest of the Protestant and Catholic worlds. These interfaith Good Friday Communion events are fostering unity and reconciliation across theological and denominational lines.

Different churches are not only cooperating and praying together; they are also advocating for solidarity by urging all world religions to unite. Make no mistake: the global ecumenical movement is fostering a religious and political climate that will usher in the final chapters of prophetic history. This paves the way for the establishment of the papal New World Order and the Antichrist government, as described in Revelation:
“And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together (unity) to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army” Revelation 9:19.
“And he gathered them together (unity) into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon” Revelation 16:16.
Prophecy tells us that the beast (papacy) is gathering together an army to wage war against the truth, against God, and against His people. The Pope’s call for unity is causing Protestants, Muslims, Jews, Seventh-day Adventists, and even pagans to come home to the “mother church” in Rome. A globalized, multi-religious fraternity is being created. This, according to God’s word, will soon lead us to the greatest crisis this world has ever known.
“When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near” (Testimonies, vol. 5, p. 451).
The effort to unite the churches is based on emotional, superficial, and external unity. This concept of being “one” is not designed to resolve the doctrinal errors of the different belief systems. The true unity that God seeks is achieved through prayer, obedience, Bible study, repentance, heart-searching, confession, and the putting away of sin. Unfortunately, the modern ecumenical movement is not interested in this.

What exactly are we doing? Are we trying to “heal” the deadly wound by encouraging spiritual renewal among the various faiths? Or do we genuinely want to help others find true healing? This is possible if we accept God’s final warning messages found in Revelation 14:6-12. This is a message of restoration that can help us remove sin and rebellion from our lives so that when Christ returns for the second time, He can finally heal our universe.
Let us heed this message. Let us bring true healing and spiritual renewal, so that we can become the people described in Revelation as those who “keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus” (Revelation 14:12). This is the final warning message that needs to be spread around the world. This futile attempt to bring false unity and healing must come to an end. People’s lives will never be sanctified through error. Sunday sacredness and spiritualism will not bring you closer to God. Only God’s pure words can give the world spiritual renewal and life.
“If men and women would follow the example of the noble Bereans, in searching the Scriptures daily, and in comparing the messages brought to them with what is there recorded, there would be thousands loyal to God’s law, where there is one today. Even many who profess to love God have no desire to change from error to truth, but cling to the pleasing fables of Satan’s creation. Error never sanctifies the receiver; but truth of heavenly origin purifies the heart” (Redemption: The Teaching of Paul and his mission to the Gentiles, p. 51).

As President of the Texas Conference, this sends the message that ecumenism is acceptable and that members can participate as well. Truly shocking.

While they may not be celebrating on Sunday, others will, as will other events attended by our members on Easter Sunday morning.

It’s one thing to to work together regarding health issues to help humanity but quite another when it comes to spiritual matters that will only compromise one’s belief in obeying the Lord. The only group that will be compromising their doctrines will be the SDA’s. They are very unwise and blind to the consequences.

Greetings Andy,
Once again our church leadership shows an inability to lead accordingly. Their spiritual tenor is weakening the cause of God at a critical point in history. Thanks for staying faithful in the grace of Christ.

Bruce Dewsberry says
“In the professedly Christian world many turn away from the plain teachings of the Bible and build up a creed from human speculations and pleasing fables, and they point to their tower as a way to climb up to heaven. Men hang with admiration upon the lips of eloquence while it teaches that the transgressor shall not die, that salvation may be secured without obedience to the law of God. If the professed followers of Christ would accept God’s standard, it would bring them into unity; but so long as human wisdom is exalted above his Holy Word, there will be divisions and dissension. The existing confusion of conflicting creeds and sects is fitly represented by the term “Babylon,” which prophecy (Revelation 14:8; 18:2) applies to the world-loving churches of the last days.” – Patriarchs and Prophets (1890), page 124.

So disappointed to see SDA pastors and leaders joining with the Pope’s call for unity. Time they asked God’s forgiveness and start searching the scriptures.
