The Elizabethton Star is a secular newspaper in Tennessee that has been in circulation since 1926. They have both a print edition and an online edition. On May 9, 2022, the Elizabethton Star published an article titled “Sunday is the Lord’s Day.” It went on to feature a quote from the late Billy Graham emphasizing the significance of keeping Sunday holy. Notice what they said:
“How wonderful it would be to reserve Sunday as the Lord’s Day, allowing everyone to engage in Christian worship and activity. Others who see people faithfully going to church on Sunday morning is a great testimony. It’s been heartbreaking to see the Lord’s Day secularized.”
“On the other hand, Christians must use common sense in navigating life’s responsibilities. Imagine if our hospitals were closed on Sundays. Imagine if our fire departments and police stations were closed on Sundays. Imagine if all of the 911 dispatchers were off duty on Sundays. Imagine if our military bases were closed on Sundays. Imagine if missionaries, pastors, and chaplains refused to serve those in need. Nothing should be cherished more than our liberty in Christ. Christianity is not intended to be encumbered with prohibitions. Our first and greatest commandment is to love God and to love our neighbor as ourselves.”
“It seems that if a person has the option to take a job that permits him or her to reserve Sunday, that would be the best option; but that isn’t always the case. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7). As believers in Christ, we have the privilege to take our cares to the Lord, praying earnestly and asking Him to help us make the right decisions about living our lives in a pleasing way.” [1]
We truly live in a time when the following inspired statements are unfolding before our very eyes:
“False religion will be exalted. The first day of the week, a common working day, possessing no sanctity whatever, will be set up as was the image at Babylon. All nations and tongues and peoples will be commanded to worship this spurious Sabbath [Sunday]. This is Satan’s plan to make of no account the day instituted by God, and given to the world as a memorial of creation.” (Bible Commentary, Vol. 7 p. 976).
“God’s memorial, the seventh-day Sabbath, the sign of His work in creating the world, has been displaced by the man of sin. God’s people have a special work to do in repairing the breach that has been made in His law; and the nearer we approach the end, the more urgent this work becomes. All who love God will show that they bear His sign by keeping His commandments” (Testimonies, vol. 6, p. 265).
It is the firm conviction of every faithful Seventh-day Adventist to realize that we were brought into existence to proclaim the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus in this critical hour when biblical truth is being replaced by false worship and a false day of rest. As we approach the end of human history, God will have a people who will be watching, waiting, and doing a special work in preparing the human race for the end.
Part of the final work will be to announce that the Sabbath of the Lord has been changed. Prophecy warned us that the Little Horn would attempt to change the true Lord’s Day to a spurious one. God warns us that this end-time power “shall think to change times and law” (Daniel 7:25). After a long and persistent effort spanning several centuries, the Papacy and her daughters have succeeded in changing the Sabbath of the Ten Commandments. Protestants are following the lead of Rome in making Sunday a day of rest.
The Third Angel’s Message found in Revelation 14:9-11 is a solemn warning against false worship, the worship of the beast and his image, and receiving the mark of the beast. This will be a test for all those who live on the earth. This issue is sharply drawn between the commandments of God, particularly the seventh-day Sabbath, and the commandments of men—the spurious Sunday Sabbath.
This final conflict will occur prior to Christ’s second coming and will result in the preparation of a harvest for His arrival (Revelation 14:14-20). The urgency becomes clear when we consider that the secular media, political leaders, religious leaders, and the majority of the world are banding together to promote Sunday as the universal day of rest. This is why we must give God’s last warning to the world right now.
The eternal gospel of Jesus Christ must be preached with new fervor and in the context of the Three Angels’ Messages in today’s world. It is a tremendous obligation and a sacred trust to be the bearers of God’s end-time message to the world. It signifies that this movement has received a special message from Heaven in order to prepare men and women for the culmination of the plan of redemption. May God keep us faithful at a time when His law is being rendered of no effect.

Exodus 20:8-11 KJV
“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.”

Moin and blessed Sabbath from Germany,
the question is, who do you worship? Power or Relationship.
Is your God “the relationship between you and God and his Son”.
Or is it the power HE has to create things and life. Or even the power to destroy all life?
For me it is worship for love, the certainty that I am a child of God (forgive all my failures).
And as a child, I know when to come to family gatherings and Holy Feasts. I will need to get together with my family
{ And if I’m too far away I have skype or zoom and know I can talk to my God anytime. }
God’s exceedingly rich blessings

Who destroys all life?
… the one who created it ? Why ?
Christopher says
In a Sabbath-keeping society, we could coordinate all the necessary infrastructure to make Sabbath available to all, keeping the spirit of it, while maintaining the necessary services through the Sabbath hours. We’d still need to keep the lights on, the houses warm, the water running, the people fed, the watchmen on duty, etc. But all unnecessary and avoidable labor could be done on other days.
When we are in a mixed society, we usually just let the heathen carry the load on Sabbath. But we need to remember that Sabbath-keepers can do any work that needs to be done. No job requires us to make someone else break God’s law.
Tom Magnusson says
The author of this piece may very well be one of God’s “people” that He is calling out of Babylon. Sunday keeping is not yet the mark of the beast. Many sincere followers of Christ that worship on Sunday will yet join His commandment keeping people.
