The Peninsula Daily News is a daily newspaper in the state of Washington. On August 5, 2022, they published an article written by Bishop Jason Bringhurst of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints titled: “Issues of Faith—Keeping Sunday as a Day of Rest.” The following points were highlighted in the article for all of their readers and subscribers:
• For many Christians, Sunday is the Sabbath. It’s a day we dedicate to the Lord. [1]
• This practice comes from one of the 10 commandments. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” [1]
• “Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it,” (Exodus 20:8-11). [1]
• As I understand this, Sunday should be different from the rest of the week. [1]
• Later in Exodus, we read, “It is a sign between me and the children of Israel forever: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.” [1]
• Keeping the Sabbath day holy is how we show a sign to God that we respect Him and follow His commandments. [1]
• I do my shopping on Saturday so we do not have to go to the store on Sunday. [1]
• Instead, I focus on spending time with my family. [1]
• I go to church. I worship God. I partake of the sacrament. I sing hymns. I hear gospel lessons. I read the scriptures. [1]
It’s incredible that this Latter-day Saint Bishop can quote the moral law’s Sabbath commandment and apply it to Sunday. But it’s not just him; every Sunday-keeping church believes the same thing. How can you claim to follow the Sabbath commandment while breaking it by changing the day to Sunday? We are taught that if you violate any part of the moral law, you violate it all (James 2:10–12). There is no biblical authority that tells us to set aside the Sabbath of the Fourth Commandment, Saturday, for Sunday.
You don’t honor God and claim to keep His commandments while keeping holy the first day of the week because the moral law says that the “seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God” (Exodus 20:10). We only obey this commandant by keeping the seventh day, not the first.
What the Sunday-keeping Protestant churches are doing is echoing Rome’s sentiments. The Vatican has published its own Catholic Catechism and is ultimately responsible for the Sabbath day shifting from Saturday to Sunday. [2] Tradition, not the Bible, has made Sunday the day of worship. The Bible makes no mention of worship taking place on Sunday. Those who keep Sunday holy do so not because of any biblical command but because there are man-made religious traditions associated with that day.
The first Christians observed the Sabbath on Saturday, the last day of the week (Acts 13:14, Acts 13:42, Acts 16:13, Acts 17:1-2), and the day was not changed in the Christian church until the Roman Emperor Constantine passed his first Sunday law in 321 A.D. God predicted in Scripture that there would be a sinister power attempting to change God’s Law. This “litter horn” or “antichrist power” describes the workings of man who would presume to change the moral law—particularly the “time law.”
“And he [the little horn power] shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into His hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.” Daniel 7:25
The final crisis will be caused by the beast’s decree that all men must disobey a commandment of God’s law (see Revelation 13). With each passing year, the push for national Sunday laws grows stronger. We are witnessing an almost universal apostasy. The remnant people of God living at the end of time can be clearly identified today, for they stand out among the thousands of different denominations. God has identified them in Bible prophecy:
“And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” Revelation 12:17.
“Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” Revelation 14:12.
We can clearly understand from these versus that the Bible Sabbath is very important. It is God’s will for all of us to begin a holy walk with Him on His day, the holy Sabbath day of the Bible.

Please pray for this Bishop. I prayerfully gave him scriptures explaining the 7th day Sabbath–how God blessed it & sanctified it forever—that God rested on the 7th day Sab. & still rests on the Sabbath & we will worship with Him in heaven & the new earth on the 7th day Sab. I gave reference of how the change came about. The seed has been sown.
