The Seventh-day Adventist faith was established by Christ, not a bunch of clowns. But it now seems that Bozo the Clown has been given the task of carrying out the mission of Jesus Christ in the world. Today, we now have ADRA and Hope Channel clowns whose job is to act like fools, literally. These comedians are constantly making jokes and acting like buffoons wherever they go. They are called “Doctors of Hope,” but they have no medical training. They have actually taken special training on how to act like clowns. The costumes and distinct clown makeup come complete with an ADRA patch on one arm and a Hope Channel patch on the other. These pictures are just a few samplings of the thousands that can be found on the Doctors of Hope Facebook page. [1]
In the video above, you can see how the ADRA and Hope Channel clowns behave. They act and speak as though they have mental disabilities while making jokes about women’s intimate apparel. Additionally, you’ll witness the music and dancing they perform in the hospitals. Nothing spiritual or sacred is happening here; all that is going on is the same godless entertainment found in our world’s party scenes.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church’s international humanitarian organization, Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), describes the Doctors of Hope ministry on their website as follows:
“The group was formed five years ago in Volta Redonda by volunteers, men and women, who undergo training within a training, acting and clowning course, as well as how to behave in a hospital, maintaining all possible care and hygiene. In 2017, it was inserted as a project by ADRA Brazil, a private, non-governmental and non-profit organization with welfare, charitable and philanthropic objectives.” [2]

The official news source of the South American Division of Seventh-day Adventists explained how the Doctors of Hope ministry works:
“Doctors of Hope is part of the official projects of ADRA Brasil, the Humanitarian Agency of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, present in more than 130 countries, a private non-profit organization.” [3]
“The idea for the project was born from the film Patch Adams, which shows a doctor who uses clowning as a form of therapy for his patients. Carlos Anderson Pereira, interior designer, was inspired and became Doctor Gentileza, who brought a humanizing tripod to the project, where jokes and laughter work hand in hand with prayer and music.” [3]

Clown therapy? Jokes, laughter, prayer, and music? This kind of ministry would go well with a circus or the local carnival, but not for the solemn mission of Jesus Christ. But everything is changing. Will we soon have clown preachers and pastors? Will we also open up circus churches? Many churches, in their efforts to appear relevant in today’s culture, have blended their ministry services with a cool, carnival atmosphere and worldly entertainment. We become void of God’s Spirit and truth when we turn to comedians and clowns to entertain people. Christ established a church, not a clown show.

“A spirit of frivolity may be in keeping with the profession of clowns and theatrical actors, but it is altogether beneath the dignity of a man who is chosen to stand between the living and the dead, and to be mouthpiece for God” (Testimonies, Vol. 4, p. 320).

“There is need for every soul to study the Pattern, Christ Jesus. Those who follow his methods of labor will have freedom in utterance and earnestness in manner. They will be inspired by the sacred themes of truth. Christ understood the needs of all classes, and was successful in preaching the gospel to the poor. He understood all their temptations. We need to study methods whereby we may preach the gospel to the poor and downtrodden and degraded of humanity. But let no one think that God will approve of a method which will require a man to act the part of a clown, or like a man who has lost his senses. Such methods as these are wholly unnecessary and inappropriate” (Signs of the Times, March 19, 1894).

This clown ministry is depraved, disgusting, repulsive, and disrespectful. This is a church ministry that is being run by comedians, not by Christ. When we take profane elements of this world and bring them into the church, that is when the faith becomes corrupted. This is not the first time we see this happen in church history. Rome has a long history of attempting to blend the church and the world.
Clowns are people who act like fools. They intentionally say and do dumb things for laughs. The more silly and ridiculous their routine is, the more laughter and success they can generate. However, it is important to know that God detests foolishness and clownery. There are no such things as Christian clowns. The Holy Scriptures condemn both fools and their foolishness. We must remember that clowns are people who act like fools on purpose.
“Doing wrong is like a joke to a fool, but wisdom is pleasure to a man of understanding.” Proverbs 10:23 (English Standard Version).
“Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.” Proverbs 13:16.
“For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.” Mark 7:21-13.
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:7.
We are living in the antitypical Day of Atonement when probation is about to end. This was a the same Day of Judgment when the sanctuary was cleansed from the record of sin as described in Leviticus 16 and 23. This was the most solemn day of the year. On this day, Israel was commanded to weep, pray, fast, and seek reconciliation with God. And when God says to weep and pray because the investigative judgment in heaven is about to end, it is not time to act like clowns:
“And in that day did the Lord God of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth: And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die. And it was revealed in mine ears by the Lord of hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord God of hosts.” Isaiah 22:12-14.
“And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem” Zechariah 12:10, 11.

What in the world! I guess the General Conference has no control any longer.
The GC is controlled, but not by God.
This is so sad. Seeing this with all that’s happening, all comes to mind is a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. The spiraling continues. What a slide. God please keep those who are sober and help the drunkards to sober up.

The Authorized KJV quotes Proverbs 17:22 correctly and a merry heart does good like a medicine, BUT the NIV…non inspired version makes laughter prominent in this verse instead of a merry heart. If we are led by The Spirit of God to visit the sick it will not be in clown clothes, but while there Christ will lead to make merry the heart of the one who is sick!

When you hear young men jesting and joking, do not join in the merriment that dishonors Jesus Christ who died for them, but rather reprove them. Watch over one another for good. Pray for and with one another. You can surround your souls with an atmosphere that will be like breezes from the heavenly Eden. Open your heart to the Lord Jesus. Guard your tongue.
