As reported by Saved to Serve, the Southwest Region Conference of Seventh-day Adventists has just concluded their 2023 annual camp meeting. It took place from June 7 to 10, 2023. During the worship services, the entire camp was filled with the sound of war, similar to what Moses experienced during the golden calf apostasy. While Moses was receiving the law of God on Mt. Sinai—laws that were to prepare the people for entering the promised land—Satan began to lay his own groundwork to prevent that passage. He introduced pagan worship to overthrow ancient Israel:
“And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written. And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables. And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp. And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear. And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing:” Exodus 32:15-19.
The dancing mixed with shouting and singing around the golden calf was a reflection and imitation of how the Egyptians worshiped their pagan gods. God warned His ancient people of the dangers of adopting pagan practices.
“And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD” Leviticus 18:21.
God commanded the children of Israel not to embrace pagan worship techniques and styles. The pagan gods of Canaan, Baal, Molech, Ashtoreth, and Chemosh were worshipped in temples with elaborate ceremonies that included singing, dancing, jumping, fire, and drums, with loud shrieking and shouting. Offerings and prayers were made on altars to the different idols representing each god. This pagan worship experience had a hypnotic, zombie-like effect on the worshippers. Because pagan worship was so abominable in the eyes of God, those among the children of Israel who offered their children to Molech were cut off from among the nation (Leviticus 20:2).
Pagan worship is not dead. The new dynamic worship services that are being conducted in Adventist camp meetings and convocations today have incorporated strange displays, jumping, shouting, dancing, and loud Pentecostal music. These demonstrations are no different than the drug-fueled dance clubs where DJs play secular music on loud sound systems while partygoers dance hypnotically. These styles and expressions of worship are not new. They have their origins in paganism and can be traced to Baal worship in the Holy Scriptures. When our church services become indistinguishable from the world’s style of entertainment, our worship has become more pagan than Christian.
Pagan Jumping and Screaming
Remember, it was the prophets of Baal that “leaped” upon the altar, “cried aloud”, and “cut themselves.” (1 Kings 18:26–28) They had 450 prophets calling upon Baal through shouting, dancing, jumping, and self-mutilation. This was almost always the case with pagan worship. However, our true God is not worshiped this way. What did Elijah do that caused God to accept his sacrifice and worship? Did he leap, shout, and dance? No. He simply restored the altar of God by stacking 12 stones, God’s original blueprint, and humbled himself in prayer. And God answered the prayer of his obedient, faithful servant. The contrast between the pagan worship of Baal and the true worship of Jehovah could not be more evident when we look at the showdown of apostasy on top of Mount Carmel. Inspiration highlights this very fact:
“The calm demeanor of the prophet stands out in sharp contrast with the fanatical, senseless frenzy of the followers of Baal” (Prophets and Kings, 151).
This very “fanatical, senseless, and frenzy worship” is now being marketed to Seventh-day Adventists around the world. It is the new evangelism that is supposed to keep your young people engaged. New modern worship styles are being implemented at places where Seventh-day Adventists meet to worship. There is a well-funded, well-coordinated attempt to transform the church experience for our people that has the approval of top leadership, and tragically, this new worship is frightfully similar to the ancient pagan traditions that seduced the nation of Israel and caused them to lose their way.
“Son of man, seest thou what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary?” Ezekiel 8:6
Ancient Israel danced with the devil, and many of them lost their souls. Like Israel of old, many of us today have adopted the pagan worship music of the devil, and as a result, we will also be excluded from God’s kingdom.
“Music is the idol which many professed Sabbathkeeping Christians worship. Satan has no objection to music if he can make that a channel through which to gain access to the minds of the youth” (Testimonies, Vol. 1, p. 506).

Unfortunately, Pastor Byrd, one of this denomination’s top evangelists worldwide, is being judged by some very discriminating individuals who did not bother to watch the entire concert not to mention the day’s service, which included a baptism. This is not the first time but it appears that the African American SDA worship style is still under attack by those who don’t even bother to understand the origins of our praise. There is something un-Christ-like in using “some” scripture to validate their unfounded disapproval of the Black worship experience – much like slaveowners did to justify slavery. If this is not your style of worship, that is fine. But please stop judging mine. I agree: go somewhere else.

Yes African roots were in paganism but this not praising the God of the converted slaves who desired to be free and wrote gospel songs about heaven, this is praising the god of those that desire enslavement by the wicked one. I wouldn’t say that. In the wilderness, God’s people were divided into tribes. I would say this is not my tribe. The church will not fall but be shaken and those who continue this practice (not just this particular but many) will be shaken out. So the church will be fine as gold and will follow The Lamb wherever He goes.
Millions upon millions have died cruel, gruesome and violent deaths so that we could have the privilege to worship a personal God according to our conscience. The God of the universe died so that we could call upon His name. He died for THIS.
One day He WILL answer.
May He keep our hearts tender to cry out at the disrespect, the disregard and to declare the soon coming of the overwhelming surprise that will befall so many. May He yet have mercy upon their souls, our church and our very lost world.

Ever wonder why Eve is not mentioned as being seen in heaven? Adam is the only one. Of him only it is written that he takes possession of the Garden of Eden, not Adam & Eve. Perhaps, she was so entranced and beguiled that she never regained her senses. This is not authentic Adventism, has never been, and will never be. It’s demon worship masquerading as Adventism, and it’s being welcomed into the church with no opposition from the gatekeepers of the faith. It’s little wonder this is spreading like wildfire.

God said praise Him in song and dance. As a life long adventist I struggled with this coming up. Once I started to read for myself, I saw that God didn’t want quiet worship. How are we to praise Him? The negative comments are bad, because we are quick to critique but what are you doing to move the church forward. If you look, we are losing on all sides. We do need to be respectful in our worship but gone are the days of silent worship.
Some have allowed their feelings to control their judgment, in meetings for worship, and have indulged in words and attitudes that have not been in harmony with the solemn worship of God. We have heard men shout and jump, and pound the desk, and use vain repetition, and this they thought was worship to God. But it was not according to the direction or will of God. All that is coarse in attitude or word makes the service of Christ a matter of ridicule, and brings confusion into the house and worship of God. – ST February 24, 1890

History of the Past to Be Repeated
I will not go into all the painful history; it is too much. But last January the Lord showed me that erroneous theories and methods would be brought into our camp meetings, and that the history of the past would be repeated. I felt greatly distressed. I was instructed to say that at these demonstrations demons in the form of men are present, working with all the ingenuity that Satan can employ to make the truth disgusting to sensible people; that the enemy was trying to arrange matters so that the camp meetings, which have been the means of bringing the truth of the third angel’s message before multitudes, should lose their force and influence. 2SM 37.3
The third angel’s message is to be given in straight lines. It is to be kept free from every thread of the cheap, miserable inventions of men’s theories, prepared by the father of lies, and disguised as was the brilliant serpent used by Satan as a medium of deceiving our first parents. Thus Satan tries to put his stamp upon the work God would have stand forth in purity. 2SM 37.4
The Holy Spirit has nothing to do with such a confusion of noise and multitude of sounds as passed before me last January. Satan works amid the din and confusion of such music, which, properly conducted, would be a praise and glory to God. He makes its effect like the poison sting of the serpent. 2SM 37.5
Those things which have been in the past will be in the future. Satan will make music a snare by the way in which it is conducted. God calls upon His people, who have the light before them in the Word and in the Testimonies, to read and consider, and to take heed. Clear and definite instruction has been given in order that all may understand. But the itching desire to originate something new results in strange doctrines, and largely destroys the influence of those who would be a power for good if they held firm the beginning of their confidence in the truth the Lord had given them. 2SM 38.1
I appreciate your comment it wasn’t like these critical people say it was at all I was there the leader was non SDA first time of him ever participating in a service of such…the Israelites praised God so they were heard in other towns…Jesus is coming back with shouts and trumpets, that’s loud I look forward to His soon return working out my own soul salvation.

We had a wonderful time in the Lord, you really think that David skipped and jumped when he danced his clothes off. I can imagine the same people judging tend to watch inappropriate content and look forward to gossiping about people who make mistakes…
There was a story told about a young couple who would sit at breakfast and look out of their window, the neighbor next door would always be hanging clothes on the line…the young wife would comment every day, that the woman’s clothes were dingy and she needs to be taught how to wash, the young husband would sit and not respond…one morning as they were sitting and eating breakfast the young wife looked and was ecstatic proclaiming someone taught her how to wash clothes for the clothes were bright and clean…the young husband looked at his wife and said I cleaned the windows.
I’m so sick of so called people who say they know the truth always talking about something and haven’t sowed a seed to anyone about the soon coming of Jesus…if you feel it’s so terrible for people to praise God in dance (by the way its in the Word, why don’t you search it out for yourself) get on your knees and pray for Jesus to guide your steps instead of worrying and causing others to fall into your opinion. This is horrendous! It is taking the Holy God’s name in vain. Angels fall prostate and cover their heads when they say His precious name…and mere human sinners are dancing and chanting His Holy Name????!!!!!! Please Father, forgive them and open their eyes to this great sin.
