Donald Trump is once again targeting Christian communities during his political campaign because of the significant political influence these groups have in our nation. By appealing to Christians, politicians aim to secure their support and votes. By aligning political campaigns with Christian rhetoric, this strategy not only helps in mobilizing people of faith to vote but also gives the perception that a candidate is morally upright, trustworthy, and approved by God. Ultimately, politicians believe that by playing the religious card, they will be able to secure victory at the polls and obtain a competitive advantage in elections.

Donald Trump just announced that November 5, 2024, will be “Christian Visibility Day.” Obviously, this is the day set aside for the 2024 presidential election. By tapping into religious sentiments and bringing up how Joe Biden desecrated Easter Sunday with his transgender statements on that day, Trump hopes to unify the churches and create a sense of religious solidarity among his supporters.
There is no doubt that our world would be a better place if we truly had more genuine Christians following Christ, but neither the state nor politicians have any business advancing that cause. That is the work of the pastors and churches. But when politicians begin to speak about reviving Christianity in America and, most importantly, during a political campaign for the presidency, they are violating the limits of their authority. They blur the line between evangelists and statesmen. You cannot legislate Christianity or use the power of the state to uphold the teachings of the church in the hopes of furthering Christianity. Such actions would violate the principles of religious freedom and separation of church and state.
Instead, our elected officials should only be talking about upholding the right of individuals to practice their faith, not promoting it. The best course of action is for the state to let the church handle its affairs on its own. It is the church’s responsibility to bring the light of the gospel to sinners. It is the love of Christ that transforms lives. It is the Holy Spirit that brings convictions into our hearts. The preaching of the gospel is the only way to turn people back to God.
Church and state need to stop trying to bed one another and return to their original roles. The churches need to get out of Washington, DC, and be found on the highways and byways, bringing souls to Christ. Furthermore, our politicians ought to put the public interest first by advancing “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” (the Declaration of Independence) instead of attempting to further the interests of religious establishments.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17.

And now we have two American presidential candidates sparring over Easter Sunday (the most ‘sacred’ of all Sundays). Their statements offer America a choice. One promises to make America gay. The other promises to make America pray.
Trump uses Easter Sunday to sell ‘image of the beast’ Bibles containing a copy of the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights and the Pledge of Allegiance… all conveniently bound together in one book.
Biden uses Easter Sunday to flex his Executive authority, issuing a proclamation that Easter is now also transgender visibility day –a move widely perceived to be yet another assault on Christianity. As students of prophecy, we know these assaults are calculated to incite a response, and we are told what that response will be.
“Political corruption is destroying love of justice and regard for truth; and even in free America, rulers and legislators, in order to secure public favor, will yield to the popular demand for a law enforcing Sunday observance.” GC 592.3
My friends, we are, on the cusp of the final crisis. Make wise use of these remaining days.
