It’s truly a sad day when Adventists begin to imitate the iconic Barbie brand from the Mattel toy company. Recently, the Seventh-day Adventist Matric School in Ranipet, India, celebrated its 35th Annual Day program by featuring very young children dancing to the internationally famous Barbie Girl song. The Barbie Girl lyrics and dancing may appear cute and insignificant, but the song is sexually explicit and about Ken and Barbie going on a date. The sexual innuendos in the lyrics are clear when you watch the official Barbie Girl video, which has over 1.4 billion views. [1]

Throughout the song, Barbie is referred to as a bimbo, which is a word used to describe a woman who is sexually promiscuous or objectified. In the song, Barbie tells Ken, “You can brush my hair, undress me everywhere,” and “Make me walk, make me talk, do whatever you please; I can act like a star; I can beg on my knees.” She also tells Ken, “I’m a blonde bimbo girl in a fantasy world. Dress me up, make it tight; I’m your dolly.” [2]
In the same song, Ken responds to Barbie by saying, “Come jump in, bimbo friend; let us do it again; hit the town; fool around; let’s go party.” He also sings to Barbie: “You’re my doll, rock’n’roll, feel the glamour in pink” and “Kiss me here, touch me there, Hanky Panky.” [2]
Immediately following Ken’s request for Barbie to kiss and touch him, Barbie responds with the following lyrics: “You can touch, you can play. If you say, I’m always yours.” [2]
Finally, both Ken and Barbie sing together. Ken says, “Come on, Barbie, let’s go party,” to which Barbie replies, “Ah, ah, ah, yeah.” Ken again calls: “Come on, Barbie, let’s go party.” And Barbie responds, “Ooh oh, ooh oh.” [2]
This is what 1.4 billion children are being exposed to at such a young age. This is the world’s standard for sex, dating, partying, and fun. And when our church institutions expose our young toddlers to such content and dress them up to sing and dance to these same worldly, uninspired lyrics, they are engaged in child endangerment and corruption of minors. Our schools are desensitizing children and normalizing sexual behaviors that are incompatible with our biblical views and teachings. Adventist schools cannot glorify the world’s standards and music because this plays a significant role in shaping the lives of our young children.
Instead of evangelizing our youth and bringing them closer to Christ, we are preparing them for the dancehalls, nightclubs, and other adult entertainment venues where the same song, Barbie Girl, is also played. Church and school leaders are making secular music the means to attract young people and bring them into our institutions. The problem is that Satan is also using the same music to keep them lost in this dark, sinful world.

Those were my thoughts as well… As Christian people why in the world would anybody think that this is ok? Satan has blinded the eyes of many.
