Sodom, Gomorrah, and the world in Noah’s day are examples of conditions that will exist just before Christ’s return. Both generations were destroyed due to corruption and immorality. An evangelist once said that “if God allows the world to continue for much longer, He would have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.” There is no denying God’s rebuke for the current wave of internet pornography, corruption, carnival, homosexuality, and immorality.
The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics sparked outrage and various social media reactions after a presentation was interpreted as an offense and an attack on Christianity. The parody of Holy Communion, in which LGBT+ and drag performers play Jesus and the apostles, has sparked outrage among Christians. Many consider the presentation to be blasphemous and an act of christophobia because it attacked an important pillar of Christianity. According to the Bible, Christians are not permitted to participate in these displays (Ephesians 5:3-5).
Do you struggle to believe that Christ can return in our lifetime? It’s important to remember that people in Noah’s time believed a flood was impossible. But the truth is that it happened, and they did not take the necessary steps to prepare. Time is running out, and Christ must return quickly. This world cannot last much longer.
But this does not have to be bad news, and no one should be afraid. Christ is speaking about the solution to all of our problems and the possibility of living in a completely renewed creation. That is if we are prepared and understand the times. By the way, being prepared is the most important question in all of this. God is ready; are you?
Since the turn of the century, the world has seen rising tensions between capital and labor, employers and employees. As a result, we see and hear about violent incidents almost every day. Millions are oppressed, while a few make the majority of the profit. And this fight will continue until Jesus returns. Why did God reveal signs of the end of the world? How do you feel as you witness the fulfillment of these signs? Are you preparing for Christ’s return?
As It Was in the Days of Noah
However, successive generations have misplaced sex’s functions and purposes. The dangers of sex stem from its perversion, that is, the distractions that thousands seek. Homosexuality is one of the most well-known perversions. Today, there is a growing acceptance of this problem as normal. Homosexuals are organizing and campaigning for social acceptance of their condition. For this and other reasons, social authorities, doctors, and psychiatrists have been debating the subject for quite some time.
The apostle Paul, when writing to the inhabitants of Corinth, a city corrupted by dangerous customs, mentioned a number of sins that would prevent entry into the kingdom of heaven, among which homosexuals—neither the women nor the men who engage in this vice—will inherit the kingdom of God (1 Cor. 6:9–10).
The cities of Sodom, Gomorrah, Adma, and Zeboim (Deuteronomy 29:23) were located in the fertile and well-watered valleys of Jordan (Genesis 13:10). They were characterized by arrogance, plenty of bread, and prosperous” (Ezekiel 16:49), and they gave themselves completely to sin (Jude 7) and other immoral and degrading practices, to the point that even today the word “sodomy” means “abnormal sexual practice between individuals of the same sex (homosexuality) or of different sexes.”
The consequences of such moral depravity came when, by divine intervention, “fire and brimstone rained down from heaven and destroyed them all” (Luke 17:29). These civilizations disappeared completely, and it is known only that “these cities were located in the valley of Siddim (Genesis 14:3), and that this was the area of the southern end of the Dead Sea, today covered with water” (Merrill F. Young, Archaeology and the Old Testament—Grand Rapids: Zondervan Publishing House, pages. 114 and 115).
Jesus Christ affirmed that “just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of man: they ate and drank, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. The same thing happened in the days of Lo: they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, and they built: but on the day that Lo came out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and it destroyed them all. So it will be on the day when the Son of man will appear” (Luke 17:26–30; see also St. Matthew 24:37–39; Jude 7; II Peter 3:3–7).
The present civilization will come to an end when “the God of heaven will raise up a kingdom that will never be destroyed; this kingdom will not pass to another people; it will destroy and consume all these kingdoms, but it itself will stand forever” (Daniel 2:44). When this happens, the children of God will shout: “The kingdom of the world has become our Lord and His Christ, and He will reign for ever and ever” (Revelation 11:15).
Shortly before his passing, Herbert G. Wells, the great English writer and historian, wrote the following grim words: “Destruction is not threatening civilization; it is happening with civilization before our eyes. The ship of civilization will not sink in five years, not even in fifty years. It’s sinking now.” Actually, biblical characteristics of morality that would prevail for the end of the world will not be fulfilled in some future generation; our generation has already fulfilled them fully.
The fact that the characteristics previously mentioned prevail in our days makes it clear that the end of all things is at the door and that soon Jesus Christ will come to “judge the world with righteousness” (Acts 17:31). And to His faithful followers, He says, “Now, when these things begin to take place, rejoice and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near” (Luke 21:28).

Every new public event seems to be trying to outdo the previous one in perversion. I wonder 🤔 if Perversion is the new Olympic Event?
