If a Muslim country can close all of its businesses, banks, stores, schools, and government offices on Sunday to “protect people’s health and conserve energy,” you can bet that all other Protestant and Catholic countries have a stronger incentive to do the same. Iran, which is 99.4% Muslim, has declared a national Sunday shutdown and urged residents not to leave their homes due to “climate change.” After a season of extreme heat, Iranian politicians have ordered a “nationalwide shutdown on Sunday.”
On July 27, 2024, 24HewsHD.tv reported the following:
• “Iranian banks and most government institutes will be closed on Sunday and people were asked to avoid leaving home as the country faces a scorching heatwave, state media said.” [1]
• “Banks and other public institutions will be closed on Sunday in order to protect people’s health and conserve energy,’ said a government statement shared by official news agency IRNA.” [1]
• “The heatwave has blanketed Iran, pushing the temperature well above 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) in the capital Tehran.” [1]
• “In the southwestern city of Dalgan, in Sistan-Baluchistan province, the mercury hit 50C (122 Fahrenheit), according to Tasnim news agency.” [1]
• “Scientists have linked climate change to more prolonged, stronger and more frequent extreme weather, including heatwaves.” [1]
Iran is following in Rome’s footsteps by implementing a national lockdown on Sundays to reduce energy consumption due to the climate crisis. Pope Francis is the brains behind this global plan to change the world by declaring a universal day of rest to combat climate change. For years, the Pope has pressured our global financial institutions, political systems, and churches to implement important social, economic, and religious changes that are consistent with Vatican policies, such as securing Sunday rest for the environment. According to the prophecy, Rome will make all nations drink its wine:
“For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.” Revelation 18:3.
“Babylon is fallen is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. How is this done? By forcing men to accept a spurious sabbath” (Testimonies, Vol. 8, p. 94).
What we are witnessing in Iran is much more than just people avoiding the heat on Sunday. Embracing Sunday as a sustainable solution is also happening in other religious nations, in secular states, and in every other type of government system. We are seeing another subtle step toward preparing the world for a common day of worship during the Mark of the Beast crisis. All of the recent major events, such as car-free Sundays, the Earth Sabbath movement, the unification of Rome and Islam in ecumenism, and others, pose an obvious threat to our liberties as more people embrace Sunday.
“The powers of earth, uniting to war against the commandments of God, will decree that all, ‘both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond,’ [Revelation 13:16.] shall conform to the customs of the church by the observance of the false sabbath. All who refuse compliance will be visited with civil penalties, and it will finally be declared that they are deserving of death” (Great Controversy, p. 604).
“It will be declared that men are offending God by the violation of the Sunday sabbath; that this sin has brought calamities which will not cease until Sunday observance shall be strictly enforced; and that those who present the claims of the fourth commandment, thus destroying reverence for Sunday, are troublers of the people, preventing their restoration to divine favor and temporal prosperity” (Great Controversy, p. 590).
