Centro Universitário Adventista do Ensino do Nordeste is an Adventist university in Bahia, Brazil, affiliated with the East Brazil Union Mission. [1] [2] The university has a theological faculty that specializes in religious studies, biblical studies, ethics, church history, and pastoral care. In a video first published on July 5, 2024 by Mauricio Aragon [3], you will see Seventh-day Adventist students and pathfinders being led astray by their desire to be like the rest of the world in terms of music and dancing. Such nonsense has no place in an Adventist institution. This is just a party, and God is not on the agenda.
Unfortunately, it seems that this theological faculty must tolerate such displays instead of following the pastoral mandate to “cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins” (Isaiah 58:1), as our young people are being allowed to glorify themselves rather than Jesus Christ. However, what we see going on in Brazil is not unique; Adventist youth all over the world are being brainwashed into this madness. Bringing these displays into the church does not sanctify Satan’s methods of entertainment. God will only accept one solution to the invasion of such offensive entertainment in our midst:
“In these days He has instituted no new plan to preserve the purity of His people. As of old, He entreats the erring ones who profess His name to repent and turn from their evil ways. Now, as then, by the mouth of His chosen servants He predicts the dangers before them. He sounds the note of warning and reproves sin just as faithfully as in the days of Jeremiah. But the Israel of our time have the same temptations to scorn reproof and hate counsel as had ancient Israel. They too often turn a deaf ear to the words that God has given His servants for the benefit of those who profess the truth. Though the Lord in mercy withholds for a time the retribution of their sin, as in the days of Jeremiah, He will not always stay His hand, but will visit iniquity with righteous judgment” (Testimonies, Vol. 4, p. 165).

If anyone has questions or concerns they are automatically labelled as trouble makers.
Jeremiah 6:17 ‘Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.”
The leaders in the church need to publish far firmer rebukes to these types of behaviour/events otherwise it will wax worse and worse.

To be clear, the music is inappropriate. The movement stems from the music. To play the music and not move is simply unnatural. And there’s a host of studies that demonstrate the effects on the nervous system by certain rhythms.
All that said, there is a place for physical expression in song and worship. And there is a time to be still, in song and worship. Knowing when and how to lead in each setting, well, this is where it can become complicated. Music/worship leaders must take special care to seek guidance in prayer and study as to how they should direct the congregation. They are ministers of no less importance than the pastor. They provide a powerful effect on the atmosphere of worship and should enter into that role with utmost care.

“God’s purpose in giving the third angel’s message to the world is to prepare a people to stand true to Him during the investigative judgment. This is the purpose for which we establish and maintain our publishing houses, our schools, our sanitariums, hygienic restaurants, treatment rooms, and food factories. This is our purpose in carrying forward every line of work in the cause.” {1MR 228}
