Pope Francis is heading to Ireland on August 25, 2018 for two days to celebrate the Catholic Church’s 2018 World Meeting of Families congress. One of the attendees who campaigned for the pope to visit Ireland was the Irish singer Emily Clarke. She actually wrote a hymn called “Papa Francis” praising the pope as the “holy one” who will bring us home to heaven. In the above video, it is obvious that Pope Francis is her idol. Clarke sent a copy of her hymn to the Vatican, and actually received a reply letter from Rome. [1]
This is disturbing on so many levels. How could any church even allow her to make this video in their sanctuary. What is the purpose of singing hymns? Are they not meant to worship and glorify God? We are told in the Holy Scriptures to sing songs to the Lord.
- “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” Ephesians 5:19.
- “And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.” Acts 16:25.
- “Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.” Psalm 147:1.
Songs and hymns are a form of worship and praise to God. But this form of worship is being corrupted with heretical hymns being written and sung to praise a carnal, fallen man. It is anathema to offer man that which only belongs to God. God alone is worthy of our praise, and this worship must be done in purity and holiness.
“Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.” Matthew 4:10.
