“The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish. The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.” Isaiah 24:4, 5.
Something out of the ordinary is happening to our planet. We are not just talking about an active hurricane season. Hurricane Florence, which has decimated the Carolinas, is just 1 of 9 storms currently circulating the earth. [1]
One meteorologist said that in his 35 years of reporting the weather, he has never seen so many hurricanes like what we’re seeing today. [2] Our planet is definitely changing as these disturbing weather patterns are rapidly becoming the new normal.
But there is a much bigger story playing out behind the scenes. There is a reason why these storms are increasing and intensifying. As the end of probationary time for our earth approaches, there will be an increase in destructive activities on our planet. The Bible tells us that Satan will work like never before when he sees that his time is coming to an end.
“Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.” Revelation 12:12.
“Satan works through the elements also to garner his harvest of unprepared souls. He has studied the secrets of the laboratories of nature, and he uses all his power to control the elements as far as God allows…Even now he [Satan] is at work. In accidents and calamities by sea and by land, in great conflagrations, in fierce tornadoes and terrific hailstorms, in tempests, floods, cyclones, tidal waves, and earthquakes, in every place and in a thousand forms, Satan is exercising his power. He sweeps away the ripening harvest, and famine and distress follow.” (Great Controversy, 589).
All these signs are evidence that the Lord’s coming is at hand. Troublesome times are upon us. May sinners come to Christ before it’s too late and may the church stand faithful and keep her lamps trimmed and burning waiting for the coming of our King (Luke 12:35-37).
