I first read about AdventHealth getting involved in the sponsorship of professional car races from Fulcrum7’s website. Fulcrum7 published an article about how the Seventh-day Adventist Health Care System, AdventHealth, is sponsoring a NASCAR racing team. [1]
But it turns out that AdventHealth’s involvement in car racing goes even deeper. Seventh-day Adventists have become “proud partners” with the Daytona International Speedway and they are major corporate sponsors for the 2020 Daytona Speedweeks. This is a series of 7 racing events that take place in February 2020. [2]
By entering into this kind of major partnership with the Daytona International Speedway, AdventHealth is able to showcase their brand to a much wider audience. AdventHealth has a “Presented By” sponsorship for the entire 2020 Daytona Speedweeks. This kind of partnership holds a lot more value than just your regular advertisers. AdventHealth will generate long-term awareness and publicity during the week-long 2020 Daytona Speedweeks event.
Sponsoring Sabbath-breaking Events
The 2020 Daytona Speedweeks event has a total of 7 races. These races are “Presented By” AdventHealth. Here is where a serious problem arises. 3 of the 7 races occur during the Sabbath hours. The race times are confirmed, and AdventHealth has partnered with the Daytona Motor Speedway to sponsor all 7 races, not just 4. The local news lists AdventHealth as the sponsor for all 7 races. [3]
Sabbath Violation: The Lucus Oil 200 car race, “presented by” AdventHealth, is scheduled for Saturday February 8, 2020. This race starts on Saturday afternoon. Last year in 2019 the Lucs Oil 200 car race started on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET in the afternoon. [4] The 2020 race is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. ET. This is a violation of the Sabbath.
Sabbath Violation: Then we have the NextEra Energy Resources 250 race which is also “presented by” AdventHealth. This race is scheduled for Friday February 14, 2020. This race starts a night. Last year in 2019 the NextEra Energy 250 started at 7:30 p.m. ET. [5] The 2020 race is scheduled again for 7:30 p.m. ET. This would make it Friday night and on the Sabbath hours – another violation.
Sabbath Violation: Then there’s the Xfinity Series: NASCAR Racing Experience 300 race that is also “presented by” AdventHealth. This race will take place on Saturday February 15, 2020. This race starts on Saturday afternoon. Last year the 2019 Xfinity Series: NASCAR Racing Experience 300 race started at 2:30 p.m. ET. [6] The 2020 race is also scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET. This is a violation of the Sabbath.
Conflict of Interest: Then there’s the “Busch Clash At Daytona” event (See list of events pictured above). This is also “presented by” AdventHealth. The “Busch” in the “Busch Clash At Daytona” represents Busch Beer or Anheuser-Busch – the alcohol brewing company headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. So now beer companies are also partnering with Daytona Motor Speedway. On one side we have Seventh-day Adventists who are “proud partners” with Daytona Motor Speedway. On the other side we have the beer companies that are responsible for so much misery and death. I guess we are all just one big happy partnership family. Beer, fast cars and good health.
Promoting Sabbath-breaking through Ticket Giveaways
AdventHealth is also offering to the general public free tickets. I would imagine that this free offer is also applicable for Seventh-day Adventists. But you have to win them. AdventHealth will give away “ticket packages” to two lucky winners who can write a 500 word essay explaining why car racing makes them feel “whole.” [7] Really? This essay writing competition actually comes from the AdventHealth website. If people need beer-sponsored sporting events to make them feel “whole” then maybe we should be offering them Jesus instead of tickets that will lead people to break God’s law (Sabbath).
The lucky winners will get “ticket packages” that include tickets to five events. [7] Two of the events are (1) Xfinity Series: NASCAR Racing Experience 300 race and (2) NextEra Energy Resources 250 car race. These are the same car races that are scheduled during the sacred hours of God’s Sabbath. This is promoting Sabbath-breaking. AdventHealth is giving away tickets for sporting events that conflict with the Sabbath hours of the Lord.
This is what happens when we reject the clear prohibitions given to us through inspiration:
“God is testing his people, to see who will be loyal to the principles of his truth. Our work is to proclaim to the world the first, second, and third angels’ messages. In the discharge of our duty, we are neither to despise nor fear our enemies. To bind ourselves up by contracts or in partnerships or business associations with those not of our faith is not in the order of God. We are to treat with kindness and courtesy those who refuse to be loyal to God, but we are never, never to unite with them in counsel regarding the vital interests of his work; for this is not the way of the Lord” (Review and Herald, August 4, 1904).
I suppose car racetracks that do business on the Sabbath apply to the mandate above. And I’m guessing that beer companies would also be in violation. It was Dr. John Harvey Kellogg who used our health work to bring about the Alpha of Apostasy. What Dr. Kellogg did was pretty bad. But even Dr. Kellogg would be ashamed at what some leaders are doing today.
Welcome to the Omega of Apostasy.
