On Tuesday, February 25, 2020 Democrats in the US Senate successfully blocked the “Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act” that would have ensured that infants delivered alive after failed abortions are sufficiently protected against the possibility of being left to die.
This was actually argued on the floor of the US Senate. How do you even have a debate about saving the life of a newborn baby that has already exited its mother’s womb? Is this where we have fallen as a nation? In the name of healthcare we are debating in our US Congress whether or not it’s OK to kill a human being after the child has been born!
Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) gave a passionate speech on the Senate floor pleading with his Democratic colleagues to support the proposed law that would end infanticide. His appeal fell on deaf ears and hardened hearts. Democrats were successful in blocking the legislation from receiving a final vote. [1]
We have political parties in our world that have become the parties of death. There are no words for this. We have lost our conscience and our way. Truly we are living in the end-times.
“They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge. Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land.” Jeremiah 5:28-30.
Is it any wonder why our world is in trouble? Consider the Corona Virus, the plagues of locust destroying food supplies, the mass shootings, the great political and social contentions, the continued moral collapse, the deterioration of the churches, the natural and man-made disasters and the threats of war and bloodshed. Are all these events just coincidences? Or are they a sign that something bigger is happening?
“The end of God’s forbearance with those who persist in disobedience is approaching rapidly. Ought men to be surprised over a sudden and unexpected change in the dealings of the Supreme Ruler with the inhabitants of a fallen world? Ought they to be surprised when punishment follows transgression and increasing crime? … But He will certainly arise to punish the wicked, who so boldly defy the just claims of the Decalogue” (Prophets and Kong’s, pp. 275, 276).
“The time is at hand when there will be sorrow in the world that no human balm can heal. The Spirit of God is being withdrawn. Disasters by sea and by land follow one another in quick succession. How frequently we hear of earthquakes and tornadoes, of destruction by fire and flood, with great loss of life and property! Apparently these calamities are capricious outbreaks of disorganized, unregulated forces of nature, wholly beyond the control of man; but in them all, God’s purpose may be read. They are among the agencies by which He seeks to arouse men and women to a sense of their danger” (Prophets and Kong’s, p. 277).
