A Campaign to Collect One Billion Signatures for Rome’s Universal Fraternity will Begin on June 10, 2023

The World Meeting on Human Fraternity, scheduled for June 10, 2023, will bring representatives from around the world to the Vatican. Pope Francis, his cardinals and bishops, thirty Nobel Prize winners, environmentalists, schoolchildren, various charities, and many other political and religious figures will be present to discuss the theme of creating a global fraternity. The following was published by Vatican News:

• “The World Meeting on Human Fraternity, to be held in St Peter’s Square on the 10th June, will bring together artists, young people, charity workers, and Nobel peace prize winners from across the world.” [1]

• “Inspired by the Pope’s encyclical letter Fratelli Tutti, the event will bring together artists, young people, and Nobel peace prize winners from across the world.” [1]

• “One of those speaking at the meeting will be Filippo Grandi, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. ‘We are happy to join the Pope’s appeal for human fraternity and peace’.” [1]

• “Pope Francis will be in St. Peter’s Square at 6 p.m., and will greet those present, as well as those joining via videolink from all around the world.” [1]

• “They will present the Pontiff with a document on fraternity and together they will launch a campaign to collect one billion signatures on it.” [1]

The purpose of gathering one billion signatures for Rome’s universal fraternity is to show that the public supports the pope’s agenda and to persuade others to endorse the same cause. The goal is to raise awareness, mobilize communities, influence people, and work to change our thinking and behaviors.

Rome’s desire to rule the world can be attributed to its ambition for power, influence, and control. This idea is rooted in the doctrine of papal supremacy and refers to the belief that the Pope possesses not only religious authority but also the authority to govern and rule over secular or temporal affairs. Prophecy also tells us that during the final crisis, Rome would once again regain control over the world and use its position of power to shape the world according to its own image.

“And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.” Revelation 13:2.

“These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.” Revelation 17:13.

“For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.” Revelation 17:17.

“The professed Protestant world will form a confederacy with the man of sin, and the church and the world will be in corrupt harmony. Here the great crisis is coming upon the world. The Scriptures teach that popery is to regain its lost supremacy” (Selected Messages, Vol. 2, pp. 367, 368).

Can we not see that God’s divine revelations to us, which are found in the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy, accurately explain the important events that are currently occurring all around us? We must also find instructions in Revelation 14:6-12 on how to respond to these prophetic events. If prophecy is being fulfilled, then we can be sure that the judgments of God will soon fall upon the ungodly. This means that now is the time to call sinners to turn to God and repent.

The world-wide proclamation of the everlasting gospel in the context of the Third Angel’s Message in Revelation 14 is our work. In order to prepare for the second coming of our Lord, God commanded us to give the last warning against the beast, his image, and his mark, as well as the divine call to complete obedience to all the commandments. This is the work of Seventh-day Adventists.

Revelation 13:3 tells us that “all the world wondered after the beast.” In other words, the whole world will be deceived. Shall we? Shall we continue to deceive ourselves and others by joining Rome’s universal fraternity? Unless we clearly understand the issues being set before us, we most certainly will, because this movement that is stirring the nations for the final conflict and that is uniting the world into one body is being directed by the “spirits of devils.” (Revelation 16:14).

This sobering truth makes it essential for everyone of us to get familiar with the final movements that prophecy predicts will occur shortly before the close of human probation:

“Protestants … are opening the door for the papacy to regain in Protestant America the supremacy which she has lost in the Old World” (Great Controversy, p. 573).

“The world is filled with storm and war and variance. Yet under one head—the papal power—the people will unite to oppose God in the person of His witnesses. This union is cemented by the great apostate” (Testimonies, Vol. 7, p. 182).

“There is one pointed out in prophecy as the man of sin. He is the representative of Satan. Taking the suggestions of Satan concerning the law of God, which is as unchangeable as his throne, this man of sin comes in and represents to the world that he has changed that law, and that the first day of the week instead of the seventh is now the Sabbath … here is Satan’s right-hand man ready to carry on the work that Satan commenced in heaven, that of trying to amend the law of God. And the Christian world has sanctioned his efforts by adopting this child of the papacy,—the Sunday institution. They have nourished it, and will continue to nourish it, until Protestantism shall give the hand of fellowship to the Roman power” (Review and Herald, March 9, 1886).
