A Nation Divided Against Itself

“And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.” Mark 3:25. Our nation has chosen its leader to occupy the office of the presidency. No question that this office is a position of sacred trust and great power. However, the greatest challenge facing America is not whether the right or wrong person is in charge of the nation. The major challenge facing us is the division, animosity, chaos, anarchy and the never-ending drama that is splintering our society. Even the most casual observer can clearly see that our nation is split and tens of millions of citizens are furious and things are getting ugly.

The 24 hour news cycle and social media has added to this fear epidemic by replaying the scenes of anger and nasty rhetoric of a coming civil war and violence. It is impossible to turn on the news and not hear of some new protest taking place somewhere in America. The Bible predicts the rise of global chaos and social crisis. This is where we are right now in America.

“And upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity…men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth” Luke 21:25, 26.

“For nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom” Matthew 7:7.

“And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death” Luke 21:16.

“And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another” Matthew 24:10.

Our nation and world is becoming a very frightening place, indeed! People are on edge. They are nervous, anxious and full of fear; feeling very unsafe. Our world is filled with violence, terrorism, crime and wars. They are anxious, nervous and full of fear. These conditions have resulted in a complete lack of trust among the masses.

Our country and the world in general are becoming more and more divided. Greed is making many rich through corruption. Racism continues to wound and destroy the lives of both police and citizens. The justice system is broken. Women and children are being enslaved through sextrade and trafficking. Godless behavior is destroying our civil and religious liberties. And what is the cause? The Bible gives us the answer:

“Because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold” Matthew 24:12.

What has caused the love for each other to disappear? Iniquity! Sin is the problem – lawlessness and the rejection of morality. Men are reaping today the consequences of rejecting the law of God. We have forsaken not just the Lord but His clear teaching for us.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 14:7.

If this experience doesn’t happen and if we do not start supporting each other as God has commanded us then what we are seeing with the riots, the protests, the shootings and the killings will continue to happen until every major city in America is swept into anarchy.
