A Prominent Catholic Organization Links Hurricanes Helene and Milton to Laduato Si’ and Calls for Climate Legislation

It is heartbreaking to see the devastation left behind by hurricanes Helene and Milton. The immense destruction, loss of life, and pain endured by countless families as they lose their homes, loved ones, and sense of security are overwhelming. These calamities serve as stark reminders of the fragility of life and the dangerous times in which we live. Bible prophecy tells us that these increasing disasters are not just random events but signs closely linked to the fulfillment of Bible prophecy and the hope of Christ’s return.

On the other hand, Roman Catholics are using these tragic events to promote Pope Francis’ climate encyclical, Laudato Si’. Rome cannot let a good crisis go to waste. The Religious Formation Conference (RFC) is a “national Roman Catholic organization serving women’s and men’s religious institutes, primarily in the United States and in other countries.” [1]

On October 9, 2024, the Catholic-run Religious Formation Conference published a warning called “Catastrophic Storms Mean Climate Action More Important than Ever,” connecting Laudato Si’ to the recent hurricanes and the complete devastation they have caused to our nation. They are also using this tragedy to renew their calls to petition policymakers to pass legislation to protect our environment.

The Religious Formation Conference expressed the following:

• “The world has witnessed the devastating effects of natural disasters on communities near and far. Most recently, Hurricane Helene and a tornado outbreak spawned by Hurricane Milton tore through coastal regions, leaving absolute destruction in their wake. Severe floods, landslides, and other climate-related events have ravaged countries around the globe, claiming lives, displacing families, and destroying homes.” [2]

• “Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ reminds us that the Earth is our common home, entrusted to us by God. The damage caused by these storms reminds us of our responsibility to protect the planet and live in harmony with nature. Human activities such as pollution, deforestation, and the burning of fossil fuels are key contributors to climate change that are feeding these catastrophic events.” [2]

• “In light of the recent destruction, it is more important than ever to continue this work, advocating for sustainable practices.” [2]

• “What You Can Do to Protect the Planet and Fight Climate Change: Advocate for Change – Support legislation and policies that promote environmental protection and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Engage with local leaders and policymakers.” [2]

• “Join in prayer, asking for God’s guidance in caring for the Earth, as we respond to Pope Francis’ call to be stewards of creation.” [2]

• “We urge you to join us in these efforts. We must face this changing climate together. Whether through prayer, raising awareness, or making lifestyle changes, each of us can contribute to making a positive impact on the planet. Let us not wait for another storm to pass before we take action. Together, we can help protect our world.” [2]

What is Rome’s answer to the climate crisis? They want to bring the laws of the world into line with Catholic doctrines, traditions, and values. Catholic climate change activists were so eager and couldn’t wait to link these recent natural disasters to Laudato Si’. The widespread desolations, the upheaval, and the unrest we are witnessing today—marked by increasing division, moral decay, and the breakdown of societal norms—can be seen as part of a larger, darker pattern preparing the way for the rise of the Antichrist—the Papal power. According to Revelations 13, 17, and 18, the final universal world order will be characterized by chaos, confusion, lawlessness, and a global longing for peace and stability, making it the perfect environment for the man of sin to seize power with the help of the United States.

The rising frequency of natural disasters, the deterioration of our values, the increasing rise of lawlessness, and the spread of fear and uncertainty are conditioning people to accept Rome’s radical solutions, even at the cost of their freedoms. In this climate, the Antichrist will emerge as a figure who promises to restore order and unity, but with deceptive and tyrannical control.

God’s word clearly warns us that the natural disaster, chaos, and unrest are only precursors to His second coming, signs that the world would be in great turmoil before His return. For those who see the growing intensity and frequency of such disasters, these events are to be perceived as wake-up calls, urging people everywhere to prepare spiritually for the last days of earth’s history and the soon coming of the Lord.

“God’s message for the inhabitants of earth today is, ‘Be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.’ Matthew 24:44. The conditions prevailing in society, and especially in the great cities of the nations, proclaim in thunder tones that the hour of God’s judgment is come and that the end of all things earthly is at hand. We are standing on the threshold of the crisis of the ages. In quick succession the judgments of God will follow one another—fire, and flood, and earthquake, with war and bloodshed. We are not to be surprised at this time by events both great and decisive; for the angel of mercy cannot remain much longer to shelter the impenitent” (Prophets and Kings, p. 278).
