With 206 nations participating in the Tokyo Olympics, it will definitely be one of the most watched events in the entire world. Millions of viewers will be watching the Olympics cheering for their national team to win. Nathalee Aranda is an Adventist athlete from Panama who will compete on Saturday night, July 31, 2021, during the Tokyo Olympics. [1] She will compete in the women’s long jump.
El Instituto Panameño de Deportes confirma hoy la clasificación de Nathalee Aranda, joven adventista panameña, a los Juegos Olímpicos Tokyo 2020.

Seventh-day Adventists will not only watch, but many will watch the games on the Sabbath if their national team is competing on that day. In fact, many will almost certainly be praying to God for their team to win. We should pray; but we should be praying for our nation, our churches and families because while the world is distracted by the Olympics, our freedoms are being taken away. We are facing a very serious crisis and even after the Olympics are over, the problems facing our world are just beginning.
Some may see the Olympics as a temporary escape from the endless 24-hour news coverage of the Covid-19 pandemic. But it’s not just the Covid-19 crisis; sin, rebellion, ungodliness, terror and fear have taken over not only our nation but the entire world. As Christians, we must remember and remind others that the answers to our problems are not found in a televised sporting event, they are found in Jesus.
The Bible tells us that there is an advantage that the Christian has over the sports fan. We are told that God has already broadcasted the results. God has already won and the devil has been defeated. Those who put all their faith and trust in Christ are victorious. We are not the losers; we will triumph because Jesus is our champion.
When you belong to Christ, you are on the winning team! And just as the Olympics will have millions of fans watching and cheering for their teams, God has an innumerable company of saints throughout the universe who worship and praise Him; not only in this life, but in the life to come.
“And every man that striveth in the games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.” 1 Corinthians 9:25.
Long after this world has ended with all of its sporting events; those who are on God’s team will triumph throughout eternity with their crowns of glory.

We ought to start training for winning the crown of eternal life.

Why in the world would any God fearing Seventh-day Adventist ever compete in a sport, especially as highly televised as the Olympics??? We should not even be in sports of any sort that is competitive. So many SDA’s have lost sight of why we are here on this earth. We are to be an example to the world of what a real Christian should be. This does not include competing in national sports of any kind.

Amen Sister! The spirit of competition is the antithesis of the Spirit of Christ.
I highly recommend the book “Strange Fire” by Dr. Barry Harker. He has done much research into the matter and clearly shows that Olympism is a religion and was designed to be so. They lift up the glory of sports, of competition, and encourage the basest of character traits hid behind the false veil of “Sportsmanship.”

Many will watch the games on the Sabbath? What kind of Adventists are they? Moreover, no SDA should be on the Olympic games, which are dedicated to Lucifer, the light bearer, who is represented by the athlete carrying the torch in the inauguration ceremony.

Bonjour,
Un vrai enfant de Dieu ne devrait pas se trouver dans une telle manifestation, car ce n’est pas sa place,et Dieu n’est pas glorifiez.Nous devons une fois pour toute choisir notre camp.

We need to be competing for the crown of life.

Just curious…what freedoms are being taken away while the Olympics are happening?
