AdventHealth Sponsored the 2022 Pig on the Pond Festival, an Annual Event that Runs on Saturday and Features Pork Eating, BBQ Cooking Competitions, Pig Races, Live Music, and Carnival Rides

“Pig on the Pond” is an annual festival that takes place at Waterfront Park in Clermont, Florida. According to the City of Clermont, the Pig on the Pond celebration brings “fun” and “delicious barbecue” to the community. [1] Adult admission to this event is $5, while child admission is $3. [2] The three-day pig festival took place on Friday, October 14, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.; Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and Sunday, October 16, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. [3]

AdventHealth and the City of Clermont served as the festival’s primary corporate sponsors. [4] This is an event to celebrate pork and runs all day on Saturday, during Sabbath hours. The official schedule noted that there would be carnival rides, games, live rock, jazz, and country music, as well as a lot of pork BBQ on the menu, which are all clear violations of God’s Sabbath and dietary laws. Therefore, not only did AdventHealth sponsor a carnival where people could eat pork on the Sabbath, but all the visitors had to pay to do so.

So, how does breaking the Sabbath and eating pork fit into the Seventh-day Adventist church’s mission and message? They don’t, and they never will. God’s word clearly forbids the use of pork, so AdventHealth should explain exactly what they were thinking that they would show such poor judgment.

“And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase.” Deuteronomy 14:8.

“Which eat swine’s flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels.” Isaiah 65:4.

“Eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.” Isaiah 66:17.

Additionally, Mrs. White tells us that pork is unfit for food and should never be eaten by humans:

“The tissues of the swine swarm with parasites. Of the swine God said, ‘It is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass.’ Deuteronomy 14:8. This command was given because swine’s flesh is unfit for food. Swine are scavengers, and this is the only use they were intended to serve. Never, under any circumstances, was their flesh to be eaten by human beings. It is impossible for the flesh of any living creature to be wholesome when filth is its natural element and when it feeds upon every detestable thing” (Ministry of Healing, p. 313).

“Never should one morsel of swine’s flesh be placed upon your table” (Testimonies, Vol. 2, p. 93).

Why then would we sponsor an event that is dedicated to eating pork? It is obvious that we are not warning the attendees of this event about the dangers associated with consuming swine’s flesh; otherwise, they would have to cease holding this event or at least change the food menu. The Bible calls any pig-eating event an abomination, and Seventh-day Adventists are funding this abomination. Try to imagine, just for a moment, the horror that all of heaven feels in the face of such a scandal.

James White published an article on this subject and said clearly that we cannot have anything to do with pork. James White wrote:

“God said of the flesh of swine in the days of Moses: ‘It is unclean unto you.’ What change can have taken place to make it clean, and a proper article of food for Christians? Has God changed his mind on the subject? Has man so changed that what was unclean as an article of food for the Hebrews has become clean to Christians? Or, has the change taken place in the nature of the pork? Has the change from the Jewish dispensation improved the nature of hogs? Did the death of the Son of God sanctify the swine? And does the freedom of the world-wide proclamation of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ give liberty to Christians to eat those things which were an abomination if eaten by the Hebrews?” (James White, Swine’s Flesh – Forbidden in the Word of God, The Health Reformer, Vol. 7, No. 1, January, 1872, p. 18).

“The swine’s nature and taste adapt him to the work of a scavenger, to gather up the filth, and thus prevent impurities in the atmosphere. The swine delights in filth. He revels in it. He is happiest when nearly buried in it, or satisfying his vile taste with most horrible rottenness. If, by chance, he meets a fellow swine that has lain dead a week, until the carcass has become a blackened mass of putrefaction, he will delight his taste, fatten on carrion, and hold jubilee. He devours that with the keenest relish which is most in harmony with his gross nature. And, moreover, the swine is an absorbent. Through his lungs, and the pores of his skin, he takes in miasma (tainted air), as a sponge absorbs water. His taste and his smell are in harmony with the most abhorrent rottenness. “And then, Christian men and women, in their turn, do him the honor to become scavengers to the swine, in serving up the flesh of his abominable dead carcass as an article of food. And how very careful and prudent these Christian people are not to waste any portion of the precious swine. AdventHealth has become a corporate sponsor of the “Pig in the Pond” festival, a party that literally invites the public to gather together to eat pork and break the Sabbath. Pork and Sabbath-breaking are incompatible with our message. Souls are perishing, and what are we doing? What example are we giving? We are pushing people further into the grave.

“If a sanitarium connected with this closing message fails to lift up Christ and the principles of the gospel as developed in the third angel’s message, it fails in its most important feature, and contradicts the very object of its existence” (Medical Ministry, p. 28).

“God gave the light on health reform, and those who rejected it rejected God” (General Conference Bulletin, April 6, 1903).

It was Dr. John Harvey Kellogg who used our health work to usher in the Alpha of Apostasy in Adventism. What Dr. Kellogg did was pretty bad. But even Dr. Kellogg would be ashamed of what AdventHealth is doing today. Tragically, it is the “health work” that is once again leading Adventism into apostasy. This time, it is the Omega.
