After being shot at Feather River Adventist School, two boys, ages five and six, are in extremely critical condition in a hospital in Sacramento. The suspect, according to authorities, targeted Feather River Adventist School because of its association with the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Shortly after the suspect’s meeting with the school principal to discuss enrollment, gunfire broke out in the playground. [1]
This tragedy has pierced the heart of the Seventh-day Adventist community. The senseless and cold-blooded shooting of innocent children at a Seventh-day Adventist school reminds us of the stark reality of evil in this world. The Word of God does not shy away from acknowledging that “in the last day perilous times shall come” (2 Timothy 3:1-5).
To the grieving parents, know this: God sees your pain. He hears your cries, and He walks with you. The Bible tells us in Psalm 34:18, “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”
In this time of heartbreak, may we cling to the hope of Christ’s soon return, when all wrongs will be made right. Until that glorious day, let us shine His light in a dark world, trusting in His strength to sustain us.
