The General Conference has created a new video and website called Beinformed.adventist.org as a resource to provide the church’s perspective on the women’s ordination debate taking place within Adventism. This is an attempt to help shape public perception to this growing controversy and to dispel any misinformation to its members.
The new website was created to showcase and explain the important decisions that the church has had to make with regards to women’s ordination. The General Conference is addressing the members of the church in a blog-style, web-based format. They are trying to direct the conversation in order to maintain unity and harmony by appealing directly to the church at large. This was long overdue.
Sadly this video and website are being misused by the supporters of women’s ordination as fuel to continue spreading resistance. Some are describing this latest effort by the General Conference, including the video above, as a campaign to promote “misinformation and manipulation.” [1]
Wow! It is truly sad to see how far some church members are willing to go in order to spread disaffection and division. There are some who will never accept the fact that the church has spoken. The people voted. It was a duly constituted and representative process. The system worked. It was fair. They lost 3 times. They lost a 4th time during the last Annual Council when the church voted “yes” to the compliance document. And now they are attacking the church’s right to communicate and clarify any misinformation directly to its members – misinformation that these same “sore losers” are spreading.
Why do these “brethren” despise democracy? Why are they attacking a fair, voting process? Could it be because they didn’t get their own way? Do they only support and respect the process when it goes their way? And if they lose, and lose very badly, they attack, they intimidate, they resist and rebel. Not only can they not accept their loss, but the MAGNITUDE of their loss.
What can one do? Well, here is what God says to the bitter and to the angry who can’t seem to accept that things didn’t turn out their way:
“And the LORD said…Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door.” Genesis 4:6, 7.
