On October 19, 2021, the French-speaking Christian Forum in Switzerland published a report about a new interfaith fraternity that was recently created. Catholics, Orthodox, Reformed, Evangelicals, Pentecostals, Old Catholics, Anglicans, Adventists and Baptists gathered together for 4 days in Leysin, Switzerland as they sang, prayed, shared and lived together from October 10 to 13, 2021. [1]
This interfaith forum in Switzerland reported that in “small groups we have taken the time to listen to our faith stories” to “exchange” and “create a bond more than anything.” The aim was to “discover how Christ has chosen our brothers and sisters” and to “lead us” to “love the fraternal communion.” [1] The French-speaking Christian Forum in Switzerland also said that this interfaith encounter was designed to “recognize” the “light” in each other:
“Through our sharing, our hymns and our prayers, we have discovered that there are treasures in all the Churches. That diversity enriches us, and we give thanks for it. We cannot do without the other Churches. Let us recognize in them the lights that are missing in ours!” [1]
Recognize the light that is missing in ours? No matter how much our leaders defend these interfaith encounters, no matter how many articles and speeches they give in support of them, the end result of these activities that Adventists can’t seem to get enough of only serves to further Rome’s ecumenical aspirations as described in “Unitatis Redintegratio” (Decree on Ecumenism). The Vatican’s plan is to unify the separated churches together under the authority of the Pope of Rome. Notice their Decree on Ecumenism:
“All Christians will at last, in a common celebration of the Eucharist, be gathered into the one and only Church in that unity which Christ bestowed on His Church from the beginning. We believe that this unity subsists in the Catholic Church as something she can never lose, and we hope that it will continue to increase until the end of time” (Unitatis Redintegratio, the Vatican’s Decree on Ecumenism). [2]
This is Rome’s stated objective for the interfaith movement. The churches must return to the fold under the unity of the Pope of Rome. Not surprisingly, Sister White tells us that the church unity movement is a matter of prophecy and will precede the mark of the beast. In other words, what we are seeing happen is what we were warned would come:
“The wide diversity of belief in the Protestant churches is regarded by many as decisive proof that no effort to secure a forced uniformity can ever be made. But there has been for years, in churches of the Protestant faith, a strong and growing sentiment in favor of a union based upon common points of doctrine. To secure such a union, the discussion of subjects upon which all were not agreed—however important they might be from a Bible standpoint—must necessarily be waived … When the leading churches of the United States, uniting upon such points of doctrine as are held by them in common, shall influence the state to enforce their decrees and to sustain their institutions, then Protestant America will have formed an image of the Roman hierarchy, and the infliction of civil penalties upon dissenters will inevitably result” (Great Controversy, pp. 444, 445).
Sister White tells us that important biblical principles will be “waived” by a unified confederacy of churches. This is precisely what we are witnessing right now. The current ecumenical movement emphasizes bringing people together on common ground while “waiving” key truths on which we disagree. Despite their rejection of truth, they are firmly united on common error:
“Through the two great errors, the immortality of the soul and Sunday sacredness, Satan will bring the people under his deceptions. While the former lays the foundation of Spiritualism, the latter creates a bond of sympathy with Rome.” GC 588.
In light of this, what is our responsibility? To create a “bond” of spiritualism with Rome? This, according to the French-speaking Forum in Switzerland, is taking place. They assert unequivocally that “more than anything,” they are forming “a bond” among their ecumenical “groups.” [3] These are relationships founded on Rome’s two greatest errors: Sunday sacredness and the immortality of the soul. This is the common ground that all the churches share. And, unfortunately, it is we who are embracing the “light” and seeing the “light” in the other churches. What kind of light is it? It’s the darkness that people try to pass off as light:
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” Isaiah 5:20.
Seventh-day Adventists are spending four days in isolation with churches in Switzerland in order to form “bonds” of fraternity and to see the “light” in each other. Who is it that is ordering us to do this? Whose instructions are we following? This task has never been assigned to us by God. Clearly, this is a fulfillment of Vatican II’s ecumenical proclamation, which was intended to reunite us with the Roman Catholic Church. God has given us a completely different commission:
“Luther declared himself to have been urged on, compelled by the Spirit of God, to battle against the evils of his time; and in the same manner must those labor who still carry forward the work of reform. To the servants of God at this time is the command addressed, ‘Lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.’ ” (Spirit of Prophecy, Vol. 4, p. 293).
“What is the duty of the messenger of truth? Shall he conclude that the truth ought not to be presented, since often its only effect is to arouse men to evade or resist its claims? No; he has no more reason for withholding the testimony of God’s Word, because it excites opposition, than had earlier reformers” (Great Controversy, p. 459).
“The great obstacle both to the acceptance and to the promulgation of truth, is the fact that it involves inconvenience and reproach. This is the only argument against the truth which its advocates have never been able to refute. But this does not deter the true followers of Christ. These do not wait for truth to become popular. Being convinced of their duty, they deliberately accept the cross.” (Ibid., p. 460).

What can I say? God is not in this movement (come out and be ye separate, and touch not the unclean…). So why would a sincere Christian who is supposed to believe we are “having the last warning message to give to the world” take part in it?
The answer to that question is not for the faint hearted to contemplate.

What about sharing the light about the first, second and third angels’ message? Is this not the light of Christ for this time that we would change it for darkness?

Question? When you say Adventist or any other church organisation are you speaking of the church leaders or the church as a whole?
It seems to me the use of the word Adventist is misplaced and misused, because we are definitely not like it was in the days of the early pioneers when sister E G White together with other young people where leading the church, we have the name Seventh Day Adventist but we hardly use it generally we take out the names Seventh Day and just say we are Adventist (for short) yet the spirit and encouragement given to the advent movement after the great disappointment while our dear sister E G White a servant of God and a living instrument in the hands of Christ was among us, for while certain groups of Adventist leaders associate in the way that is described in this article, others who claim to be more like historical Adventist spend much time criticising the traditional SDAC organisation.
My final point is a Christ Centred one quoting our dear sister E G White…
1. Of all Christians Seventh Day Adventist should be foremost in lifting up Christ before the world.
2. There is nothing that will help the spiritual life as the study of the life of Christ.
3. Finally as it is found in the Devotional reading of the publication book…Lift Him Up, page 230 under the date of the 4th of August we read…
The cross of Christ challenges and will finally vanquish every earthly and hellish power. In the cross all influence centres and from it all influence goes forth. It’s the great centre of attraction, for on it Christ gave up his life for the human race…Those who in the strength of Christ overcome the great enemy of God and man will occupy a position in the heavenly courts above angels who have never fallen. Christ declares, “…if l be lifted up…l will draw all… unto me ” if the cross does not find an influence in its favour, it creates an influence…This is the only means that will move the world…” (No less the church for that matter)
Let’s keep in mind the words of Paul to the believers in Corinth;
…l am determined not to know anything among you save Jesus Christ and Him crucified…(1: Corinthians 2: 2)
