The Leicester Mercury is a British regional newspaper for the city of Leicester and the neighboring counties. They are supporting the 10-point plan by the International Energy Agency to reduce the global demand for oil. The plan includes enforcing a ban on driving cars in cities every Sunday, reducing the speed limits, working from home, and using trains instead of planes.
On July 17, 2022, the Leicester Mercury published an article reaffirming the need to ban Sunday driving in order to lower oil consumption. The newspaper presented the following:
“Putting a ban on Sunday driving and lowering the speed limit on motorways by more than five miles per hour are suggestions that have been put forward as ways Britain could reduce its reliance on oil. The proposals are part of a 10-point plan by the International Energy Agency to lessen global demand by 2.7 million barrels a day. In turn this could help to control stock levels and prices. The ideas come amid soaring prices and supply challenges driven by the war in Ukraine and cost of living crisis.” [1]
Another daily newspaper in Britain is advocating for a ban on Sunday driving, intensifying the fight for Sunday rest requirements. [2] [3] All over the world, the Sunday question is being advanced. On the surface, every justification for taking Sundays off sounds good: recreation, rest, family time, lessening our dependence on oil, etc. But even as Sunday laws are being pushed, the real goal is to promote church attendance, and we have been given a specific task to carry out as we witness these things taking place:
“The Christian world is honoring a false sabbath, and we are to show them its true character and foundation. We must make it plain to them that they are honoring a manmade institution in place of that which God himself has sanctified” (Review and Herald, January 31, 1893).
“If the people can be led to favor a Sunday law, then the clergy intend to exert their united influence to obtain a religious amendment to the Constitution, and compel the nation to keep Sunday” (Advent Review and Sabbath Herald, December 24, 1889).
These statements demonstrate that in order for the final conflict to come, a religious awakening regarding the Sunday question in public life must be created. The only outcome that can be expected from all these articles from various newspapers calling for Sunday rest by law will be a universal Sunday law in which Rome will persuade political leaders that this is what is desperately needed to save the world.
God’s people must be sounding an alarm against the Sunday movement. We need to be at the front of the battle against Sunday closing measures:
“I do hope that the trumpet will give a certain sound in regard to this Sunday law movement…The truth should be presented in short articles, in clear, distinct lines, giving special points in regard to the Lord’s Sabbath” (Counsels to Writers and Editors, p. 97).
We were told exactly how to combat the Sunday movement. This means that we cannot stand by idle and allow the false doctrine of Sunday, the wine of Babylon, to be forced upon the people.
“We should now be doing our very best to defeat this Sunday law. The best way to do this will be to lift up the law of God and make it stand for all its sacredness” (Ibid. p. 98).
The call for Sunday rest will continue to intensify. Let’s get ready and prepare ourselves and others for this final hour.

Amen, Pastor Andy. I buy the book, “National Sunday Law” by the case. I give it out individually, or I leave it in obvious places for others to find, pick up and read. Along with that book I give two others. They are “Hope for the Hurting” (Steps to Christ) and the “Three Angels Messages.” When my “Hope for the Hurting” runs out, and they are almost gone, I will go back to giving out the “Great Controversy” along with the the National Sunday Law.” That is the book they see 1st when they take the books because just the name of it is an eye catcher. The rest of the work, is up to the Holy Spirit.

The comment below was just rejected because it said it was a duplicate. However, something happened the 1st time around and I lost my message without having finished my comments – so I am now trying again.

I go to a SDA church in the Greater New York conference. To this day we have not heard, spoke, preached, or mentioned anything about the second coming of Christ. We are not ready or share it with other people. The Sabbath/Sunday issues are right on us. Please pray for our leaders to awake and our church to speak the 3 angels message.
Theresa says
Richard, can I respectfully ask why are you still going to this church which is obviously not teaching present truth?
You might like to have a look at Seventh Day Press who have online zoom meetings and follow the early church pioneer teachings, untainted by the false teachings which were introduced into the corporate church soon after the demise of Sister Ellen White. God bless you in your search for the true gospel message.

Brother Richard, if you are waiting for the leaders to wake up then you will always be in darkness. Read and study the Bible and the SOP. Read the writings of our pioneers. Pray for the Lord’s guidance and He will guide.
