Well-known public, Christian figures who speak out for their faith are no longer being tolerated. Israel Folau, a Christian Rugby star, has been sacked because he takes his faith seriously. Because he believes that sin has consequences and that sin will lead to death and judgment, Israel Folau will no longer be playing professional sports. The local news reported the following:
“Israel Folau is set to be sacked following his social media posts on Wednesday night, leaving the Wallabies’ preparations ahead of September’s World Cup in chaos. A year after telling gay people that they were destined for hell on Instagram, the 30-year-old doubled down on his hateful, harmful rhetoric by sharing a meme that informed the masses that hell awaits “drunks, homosexuals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists and idolaters” on the social media platform.” [1]
The actual social media post made by Israel Folau was as follows:
“Warning – drunks, homosexuals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists, idolaters – hell awaits you. Repent! Only Jesus saves.”
But the so-called “tolerant” media is crucifying a Christian athlete for daring to list what the Bible describes as offenses against God and for calling people to repent. So much for toleration, inclusion and diversity of opinions. What has happened to freedom of speech and freedom to believe in what the Bible says?
This is an indication of the levels to which society has descended to. Here we have a fine, faithful, Christian, role model who doesn’t drink, doesn’t do drugs and he isn’t a womanizer. Yet he is unfit to play professional sports in Australia.
Israel Folau is a hero because of his faith and courage. He is an example of what real, Godly men ought to be like. And it is unthinkable that many so called “church” people are also condemning him. [2]
There is a hell and a day of judgment coming; however, God desires forgiveness and repentance and not judgment. God’s preference is that we turn back to Him and not face discipline and justice. We see this all throughout the Holy Scriptures.
God’s goodness and mercy should bring us to repentance; but if it doesn’t, God’s patience will one day reach its limit and divine justice will come. One thing is certain: Those who suffer hell fire will one day wish that someone like Israel Folau would have warned them of that awful hour.
“Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.” Ezekiel 18:30-32.
