In the image above, you will see the major ecumenical players in the world. Red circles from left to right: Roman Catholic Bishop Brian Farrell, the Vatican’s Secretary of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity; Dr. Jerry Pillay, the General Secretary of the World Council of Churches; Dr. Casely Essamuah, the Secretary of the Global Christian Forum; and Ganoune Diop, Secretary of the Conference of Secretaries of Christian World Communions and Director of Public Affairs and Religious Liberty for the Worldwide Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The World Council of Churches (WCC) hosted the Conference of Secretaries of Christian World Communions at the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey from October 30–November 3. During this meeting of top Protestants and Roman Catholics, Seventh-day Adventist Ganoune Diop told the group of ecumenical leaders that the work they were all engaged in, ecumenism, is designed to gather the world under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. On November 6, 2023, the World Council of Churches reported the following words spoken by Ganoune Diop:
“Rev. Dr Ganoune Diop, secretary of the Conference of Secretaries of Christian World Communions, said: ‘This unique yearly gathering is a space where distinguished leaders of Christian world communions engage in bilateral and multilateral dialogues, each communion sharing on their own terms about their ecclesiastical life, and work as witnesses to the sovereignty of the triune God and His ultimate purpose to gather the whole world, oikumene, under the lordship of Christ. The core of the meetings consists in reports, and conversations on each report. This group does not sign resolutions, engage in common strategic planning or plan of actions. The focus is on relations, on being, rather than doing things together. Mingling with one another helps dispel prejudices and helps us focus on our respective participation in what God is doing in the world’.” [1]
The purpose of ecumenism is not to bring the world under the “lordship of Christ” but to heal the deadly wound (Revelation 13:3) and to bring all of the Christian churches under the authority of the Roman Catholic Church. This is what Rome teaches. This is mandated by the Second Vatican Council’s decree on ecumenism, called “Unitatis Redintegratio,” which translates to “Restoration of Unity.” This decree, promulgated in 1964, emphasizes that God founded only the Catholic church under Peter and the apostolic college and that the so-called separated brethren must fully be incorporated into this church in order to embrace salvation. This is what Rome calls ecumenism.
• “The restoration of unity among all Christians is one of the principal concerns of the Second Vatican Council. Christ the Lord founded one Church and one Church only.” (Decree on Ecumenism, Section 1). [2]
• “Everywhere large numbers have felt the impulse of this grace, and among our separated brethren also there increases from day to day the movement, fostered by the grace of the Holy Spirit, for the restoration of unity among all Christians. This movement toward unity is called ecumenical” (Decree on Ecumenism, Section 1). [2]
• “For it is only through Christ’s Catholic Church, which is the all-embracing means of salvation, that they can benefit fully from the means of salvation. We believe that Our Lord entrusted all the blessings of the New Covenant to the apostolic college alone, of which Peter is the head, in order to establish the one Body of Christ on earth to which all should be fully incorporated who belong in any way to the people of God” (Decree on Ecumenism, Section 3). [2]
Doesn’t Ganoune Diop know what Rome teaches about ecumenism? Of course he does. So the truth is that this movement is not leading people to Christ but to the Antichrist. Throughout history, the Roman Catholic Church has sought to bring the entire religious world under her power and influence. This is no secret. No longer able to openly force people to submit to its popes under the threat of death and persecution, the Vatican has changed its strategy to win the world over to her side. Since the close of the Vatican II Council of 1965, the Roman Catholic Church is now urging all faiths to come back home to her.
Whether it is through social justice, ecumenical dialogue, or interfaith cooperation, Rome is taking a reconciliatory course through ecumenism to promote church unity, foster greater cooperation, ignore theological differences, seek common ground, overcome historical divisions, and seduce our people. Can we not grasp the magnitude of what is happening? We are witnessing an attempt to completely surrender our prophetic faith and mission.
However, in praising the ecumenical movement, General Conference PARL director Ganoune Diop asserts that God is using it to bring the world together for Christ. What an abhorrent act of treason! This is a man whose loyalty is to Rome. By attributing the ecumenical movement—which aims to bring the churches to Rome—as a fulfillment of Christ’s will, he betrays his sacred trusts. Diop is endorsing Rome’s ecumenical endeavors, which are viewed as counterproductive in the great conflict between Christ and Satan. He’s expressing admiration for the other side. In the General Conference, we have a leader who has openly aligned himself with Rome.
Today, many are embarking on a journey that is leading us into the arms of the Papacy. They ignore the prohibitions of the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy. They betray our Protestant and Seventh-Day Adventist heritage and ignore the errors of Rome that ruptured the church during the Reformation—errors she has never forsaken. They sign away our religious liberties. They even betray our charity work! Acts of mercy, charity work, and helping the downtrodden are never justifications to enter into a partnership with Rome. What does inspiration have to say about Seventh-day Adventists partnering with other groups to pursue charity work?
“If charity work is to be done, the church is its own almoner (distributor of alms). We do not need to unite with societies of a worldly character in order to visit the sick, clothe the naked, or help the needy. This work we can do through God’s own appointed agencies, and in the name of Jesus Christ. God does not design that we shall be placed in any subservience to the world in this regard, or that any communication shall be made by us to them that will give them an advantage over us” (Manuscript Release, Vol. 8, p. 108).
Has unity with Rome by any means and at all costs become the new virtue today? Yes, it has, but it is not God’s virtue; it’s the goal of the man of sin. Should interfaith worship and partnerships with the papacy become our new mission? These are the same questions that our Protestant forefathers rejected 500 years ago. What has changed? Who has changed? Not Rome. Today, interfaith leaders lament the lack of unity among the churches and work to restore it while ignoring the sins and abominations that created the disunity in the first place.
“But Romanism as a system is no more in harmony with the gospel of Christ now than at any former period in her history. The Protestant churches are in great darkness, or they would discern the signs of the times.” (Great Controversy, p. 565).
“Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of Roman power” (Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 451).
We, as a people, have lost our urgency. We don’t see the danger that God has revealed in his word about this power. We, as Seventh-day Adventists, should have an urgency to share the final warning messages of Revelation 14 with the entire world—and especially with the fallen churches. This urgency is predicated on the fact that God is about to bring “punishments” and judgment upon all these churches. Where is our love for them? Where is the urgency to warn them about the coming danger?
“The Lord is about to punish the world for its iniquity. He is about to punish religious bodies for their rejection of the light and truth which has been given them. The great message, combining the first, second and third angels’ messages, is to be given to the world. This is to be the burden of our work. Those who truly believe in Christ will openly conform to the law of Jehovah. The Sabbath is the sign between God and His people, and we are to make visible our conformity to the law of God by observing the Sabbath. It is to be the mark of distinction between God’s chosen people and the world” (Kress Collection, 105).
If we refuse to give this message and instead embrace the Antichrist’s agenda of joining together with them into a false, compromised, fallen witness, then we are betraying the sacred calling and sacred trust that have been given to us. May the Lord help us to instead stand alone in the power of God and proclaim these messages in their fullness. Under the power of the Holy Spirit, we can have a much more powerful and effective witness to the truth. God’s own appointed agencies will enlighten the earth with the glorious truths for this time. If we refuse, we will perish with the “nominal churches” who oppose the law of God:
“Those who have had opportunities to hear and receive the truth and who have united with the Seventh-day Adventist church, calling themselves the commandment-keeping people of God, and yet possess no more vitality and consecration to God than do the nominal churches, will receive of the plagues of God just as verily as the churches who oppose the law of God” (Manuscript Release, Vol. 19, p. 176).
“Let not those who have the truth as it is in Jesus give sanction, even by their silence, to the work of the mystery of iniquity. Let them never cease to sound the note of alarm. Let the education and training of the members of our churches be such that the children and youth among us shall understand there are to be no concessions to this power, the man of sin. Teach them that although the time will come when we can wage the war only at the risk of property and liberty, yet the conflict must be met, in the spirit and meekness of Christ; the truth is to be maintained and advocated as it is in Jesus. Wealth, honor, comfort, home,—everything else,—is to be a secondary consideration. The truth must not be hid, it must not be denied or disguised, but fully avowed, and boldly proclaimed” (General Conference Daily Bulletin, April 19, 1891).

The papacy is just what prophecy declared that she would be, the apostasy of the latter times. 2 Thessalonians 2:3, 4. It is a part of her policy to assume the character which will best accomplish her purpose; but beneath the variable appearance of the chameleon she conceals the invariable venom of the serpent. “Faith ought not to be kept with heretics, nor persons suspected of heresy” (Lenfant, volume 1, page 516), she declares. Shall this power, whose record for a thousand years is written in the blood of the saints, be now acknowledged as a part of the church of Christ? {GC 571}
The man of sin is worshiped in the person of the pope, and his representative, the cardinal. But God has not given this power to pope or prelate. The pope is not regarded by God as anything more than a man who is acting out in our world the character of the man of sin, representing in his claims that power and authority which Satan claimed in the heavenly courts. {5MR 102.2}
But Satan meets with greater success in presenting the same temptations to man. To secure worldly gains and honors, the church was led to seek the favor and support of the great men of earth; and having thus rejected Christ, she was induced to yield allegiance to the representative of Satan—the bishop of Rome.
It is one of the leading doctrines of Romanism that the pope is the visible head of the universal church of Christ, invested with supreme authority over bishops and pastors in all parts of the world. More than this, the pope has been given the very titles of Deity. {GC 50}

Ganoune Diop is a turncoat and double agent.

Ted Wilson says they’ve NEVER been involved in ecumenism & will NEVER give up or modify their beliefs. So why is Ganoune Diop participating in these sessions – are they friendly “nice to see you” get-togethers? He doesn’t sneak the three angels’ messages in anywhere, does he (or he’ll quickly be uninvited). But that’s okay, they may differ on lots of issues; but they all believe in a trinity, & that belief is how they will unite-but-not-unite & Wilson will be off the hook because it’s not full ecumenism. This is inching towards exactly what Ellen White said the denominations would do – unite on a point or two.

Thank you. The first source link seems broken. Also, is there any video of this event? This is truly horrible that the GC agent continues to compromise with protestant daughters of Rome and papacy itself

Ganoune Diop should not be employed by the church as he does not represent truth from the scriptures. It was shocking when he was elected to office at the GC!
R. Butler says
Curious thing how brother Diop and the other “leaders” all bear “witness” to the fact that he and the leaders of our church (whom he represents),
as well as the WCC, all acknowledge the “sovereignty” or authority of the very same “triune” god of Rome and of her daughters.
Let us please stop lifting elephants foot and searching underneath with a magnifying glass in search of the problem here brethren.
The evidence is about as clear as God could possibly present it and we truly must be blind in order not to see it.
Matt. 15:14
Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

I cannot help myself and wonder: If members of the GC know about his affiliation, then why is still in his position even years after the first visit to the Vatican?!
Unless the board has been infiltrated by Jesuits, he should be removed from his position and a through follow up study is required to prevent this type of issue in the future.
Unless I’m wrong on this, but I understand that my monthly tithe is used to fund ecumenism?! I guess I will stop then and divert the resource to others in need…
Valentin I. says
The tithe we return, we don’t return it to the GC but to God. What those who administer the tithe are doing they will be responsible directly to God. Remember that by withholding you tithe, you will deprive others who are faithful. The sons of Eli were unfaithful and God bear up with them until they reached the full measure. The Lord permits those apostasies to happen and our faith is tried. We should do what is right in the eyes of God and leave the rest with Him. Keep returning your tithe faithfully through the right channels and let God deal with them. God bless you.

I’m tired of hearing about Ganoune Diop. Do other high-level Seventh-day Adventists attend such meetings? Aside from Mr Wilson, of course – he loves to show up.
GW says
I consider myself a conservative Adventist and as such I am not in favor of ecumenism as in its ultimate for leads the “woe” of this verse:
[Isa 5:20 KJV] 20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
As I read what Diop actually wrote however, I’m finding it hard to connect the article title words “Ecumenism’s Ultimate Goal is to unite…,” with what Diop was recorded to have said.
He said in part “…witnesses to the sovereignty of the triune God and His ultimate purpose to gather the whole world, oikumene, under the lordship of Christ”
I had to look up “oikumene”, which apparently means “populated world”, and is also the domain name for WCC.
When I read that portion of his statement carefully: To me it is clearly saying that he intended the reader/hearer to understand that it is Gods ultimate purpose (not Ecumenisims) to Gather the whole world under the lordship of Christ”. This, I think, is biblically correct. Yet at the same time Ecumenisim “externaly” seeks the same goal. But Diop didn’t say this. What I mean by “externaly” seeking the same goal is that the very nature of Ecumenism is to collect and accept only “agreeing points of doctrines” while abandoning differences, and so this ultimately results in a need to insert the word “anti” in front of the word “Christ”, when the reality of implementation is made. We understand however that the esoteric’s (insiders who know the root motivations) want the world to be under “anti-Christ”, or more simply “anything but Jesus”.
Satan’s purpose is indeed to gather the whole world – “good and bad” to “co-exist’ under his rule. This is clearly in opposition to the Biblical requirement to differentiate between good/evil, Satan wants there to be no differentiation – yet all can worship equally together under “(anti)-Christ”. The Biblical record of God’s purpose is to save all man kind. Not willing that any should perish. However while on the one-hand He desires to gather all (his people, and those not of this fold), we also know that it is ultimately recorded that “every knee shall bow” – so with this (every knee shall bow) being God’s purpose —all (saved and lost) shall “bow the knee” which indeed represents being “under his lordship”- as one “bows” to their Lord. And then one group to everlasting life, and one to everlasting death.
God’s purpose in the Conclusion of the Great Controversy – is vindication of his Character by the saved, the lost, and the unfallen worlds. In the fulfillment of “every knee bowing” there is a recognition of righteous judgment by both the saved and the lost. And I would include the unfallen worlds in this recognition as well.
Perhaps it would be a blessing to read texts about the “gathering” to remind us who the Lord intends to gather, and remind us of our role in this gathering.
[Deu 30:3]
That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.
[Isa 56:6-8 KJV] 6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; 7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices [shall be] accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. 8 The Lord GOD which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather [others] to him, beside those that are gathered unto him.
[Psa 82:8 KJV] 8 Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.
[Psa 86:9 KJV] 9 All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name.
[2Pe 3:9 KJV] 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
My read of the Bible is compatible with what I understand Diop to have written on “gathering” under the Lordship of Christ. I understand that he wrote that it is “Gods ultimate (or final) purpose” to unite the entire world to be under the Lordship of Christ. I believe that the Lord “wants” all to be saved. In my understanding of what it means to be “under the Lordship of Christ”, doesn’t necessarily imply being “saved” it simply means that one recognizing Christ as Lord/or has right to rule/judge: –which is to be “under his lordship”.
[Isa 45:23 KJV] 23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth [in] righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
[Rom 14:11 KJV] 11 For it is written, [As] I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
Of course Satan also wants to do the opposite – gather the world under a false leader…. But he wants to do everything God plans – and to “be God”…
So this means that it is the “Lord” who indicates his desire to “Gather” his people from where they are scattered. His people will be in ALL churches – in fact most of his people are living up to what “little light” they have and are in “other” places. The Bible tells us where exactly they are:
[Rev 18:2-4 KJV] 2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. 3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. 4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
So God’s people –that he wants to save—are in Babylon – The nature of Babylon is intoxicating “wine”. And we know that “wine” refers to doctrine. And EGW is clear that this basic “intoxicating” wine is being “saved in sin”, or needing no salvation – or Saving yourself…. Thus when a “system” has a “doctrine” which draws away from our need of salvation, or encourages “comfort in sin”/self salvation, then we know we are in Babylon.
But if the “system” (denomination) teaches biblical repentance/salvation through the Blood of Christ, and then individuals teach “Babylons” doctrine in opposition to the law (doctrine) of the “system”, then there is a difference. We are forewarned in scriptures to expect -false teachers – and “Christs” to arise. While this doesn’t mean that we are to flee when ever error raises it’s head, we are to expect error to raise its head, and be prepared to defend against error. And at the same time we can know where we are to go and find Gods people that he wants to save… We are commissioned to go, and not to merely to be a defensive sit-at home body-Christians.
[Mar 16:15 KJV] …, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.:
[Eph 3:10 KJV] 10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly [places] might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,

[Jde 1:3-4 KJV] 3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort [you] that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. 4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

[Mat 21:31 KJV] 31 Whether of them twain did the will of [his] father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
[Mar 2:15 KJV] 15 And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him.
[Luk 7:39 KJV] 39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw [it], he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman [this is] that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.
