Cardinal Gerard Müller: Catholics are Working for a “Renewal of True Christian Thinking” in Europe, USA, and Latin America

“The professed Protestant world will form a confederacy with the man of sin, and the church and the world will be in corrupt harmony. Here the great crisis is coming upon the world. The Scriptures teach that popery is to regain its lost supremacy, and that the fires of persecution will be rekindled through the time-serving concessions of the so-called Protestant world” (Selected Messages, Vol. 2, p. 367).

On March 30, 2024, Tucker Carlson interviewed German Cardinal Gerhard Müller, who served as the head of the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. In the interview, Cardinal Müller mentioned that Roman Catholics are trying to bring back “true Christian thinking,” which is, as far as we know, a global resurgence of Catholicism. He specifically called for the restoration of the old, medieval Roman Catholicism of the sixteenth century, known as the Roman Rite. These remarks were made in light of the “systemic de-Christianization” that is taking place in both Europe and the US. In other words, Roman Catholics will be at the forefront of the movement to force heretical Christian values upon society, not just Christian nationalists.

The Catholic Cardinal said, in part:

• “We see in Europe and the United States, we are experiencing a certain systematic de-Christianization of political ideological elite, with the meaning that the old continent, the old Europe, has an old-fashioned anthropology, the wrong understanding of what is the human being” (Video).

• “And therefore we hope and we work for a renewal of a true Christian thinking and life in Europe and in the United States, a northern part of the continent, but also in Latin America. And as you mentioned, not all Christians are Catholic, but we have to work together in the war, in favor of life” (Video).

• “I think that only with the renewal of a Christian understanding, which is our culture, and without Christianity, the West is nothing. It’s only a territory, but without culture, without the spirit, without identity, and therefore it’s very important to look at the roots of our culture, the Greek philosophy, the Roman Rite, and together with the Old and New Testaments” (Video).

Revelation 13 predicts that in the not-too-distant future, the nations will impose on everyone a resurgence of Christian worship at the Pope’s request. The following prophetic words come to mind, which directly relate to Cardinal Muller’s call to all non-Catholic churches—primarily Protestant ones—to join them in resurrecting Christianity around the globe:

“And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.” Revelation 13:11, 12.

It is well known, particularly in Adventist circles, that this two-horned beast represents our blessed country, the United States of America. Prophecy states that our nation will engineer a worldwide movement to reestablish the principles of church-state rule, not just here in our nation but also throughout the world. The first beast whose deadly wound was healed represents the papacy, or ecclesiastical Rome. When prophecy says that the USA will “exerciseth all power of the first beast” and will speak like a “dragon,” this foretells the development of the spirit of intolerance and persecution that was manifested by the Papacy during the Dark Ages.

Our nation endowed with freedom will one day establish an apostate religious-political system modeled after Rome. The only piece of the puzzle that has yet to take shape is for Protestants and Catholics to come together into a close-working relationship for the implementation of this world-wide prophetic agenda.

“By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near.” (Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 451).

Today, the USA is in the business of expanding its political influence, policies, and systems—sometimes by force if necessary. Tomorrow—and again by force—it might well be a new world-order religion. Revelation 13 tells us that there will be criminal and economic penalties for those who will not conform, with a death penalty to follow. However, the second coming of Christ will follow these events and bring salvation to those who remain loyal and faithful to God.

“The voice of God is heard from Heaven, declaring the day and hour of Jesus’ coming, and delivering the everlasting covenant to his people. Like peals of loudest thunder, his words roll through the earth. The Israel of God stand listening, with their eyes fixed upward. Their countenances are lighted up with his glory, and shine as did the face of Moses when he came down from Sinai. The wicked cannot look upon them. And when the blessing is pronounced on those who have honored God by keeping his Sabbath holy, there is a mighty shout of victory” (Great Controversy, p. 640).
