ChurchLeaders.com is an online resource for pastors that aims to help them develop strong and effective leadership by providing them with important news and information. On March 13, 2024, they published an article titled “Uncovering the Mysteries: A Deep Dive into the Mark of the Beast” that failed to identify either the beast or the mark. A message that is of such great importance has been completely neglected by today’s Christian society. This was not a thorough examination of the mark of the beast. It wasn’t deep, or even a dive. However, they give the impression that they are going to tell you everything you need to know about the mark of the beast before failing to do so.
ChurchLeaders.com published the following in their so-called “deep dive” into the Mark of the Beast.
• “The beast, as depicted in Revelation, is often interpreted as a figure or system that stands in direct opposition to God’s authority and divine order.” [1]
• “The mark serves as a symbol of defiance against God, aligning its bearers with the Antichrist’s world system. It’s a sign that distinguishes those who have chosen to follow the path of rebellion and separation from God. The choice to accept the mark is depicted not merely as a physical action but as a spiritual declaration of where one’s loyalty lies.” [1]
• “Accepting the mark signifies a deliberate choice to reject God, resulting in eternal separation from divine grace.” [1]
• “Therefore, receiving the mark on the forehead or hand represents a total surrender to the beast’s authority, both in thought and action, indicating a complete spiritual compromise.” [1]
• “The Mark of the Beast represents the ultimate choice faced by humanity: allegiance to God or conformity to the worldly system represented by the beast.” [1]
• “Contrasting the Mark of the Beast is the concept of the “seal of God” mentioned in Revelation 7:3 and Revelation 9:4, where the servants of God are sealed on their foreheads. This seal signifies God’s protection and ownership, marking individuals as belonging to Him and safeguarding them during times of tribulation. It symbolizes salvation, divine approval, and spiritual security.” [1]
• “The message is clear: the decisions made in this life have eternal consequences. The narrative surrounding the Mark of the Beast encourages a steadfast commitment to faith and righteousness, standing firm against the pressures of conformity and opposition to divine truth.” [1]
No, the message is unclear. They fail to identify the beast or the mark, leaving church leaders unprepared for the real issues that will affect everyone, whether they live or die. In an age when Sunday rest is being agitated by various parties, it is critical that we let people know what the mark of the beast is and how to avoid it.
“It is for the interest of all to understand what the mark of the beast is, and how they may escape the dread threatenings of God. Why are men not interested to know what constitutes the mark of the beast? Exodus 31:12-17. The Sabbath question will be the issue in the great conflict in which all the world will act a part.” (Review and Herald, April 27, 1911).
“When the test comes, it will be clearly shown what the mark of the beast is. It is the keeping of Sunday” (SDA Bible Commentary, Vol. 7, p. 980).
“History will repeat itself. In this age the great test will be upon the point of Sabbath observance. The heavenly universe beholds men trampling upon the law of Jehovah, making the memorial of God—the sign between Him and His commandment-keeping people—a thing of naught, something to be despised … Apostate Protestantism has accepted the false sabbath instituted by the Roman Catholic Church. They have cradled this child of the papacy. Very soon all who refuse to worship this idol will be forbidden to buy or sell” (Manuscript 110, 1904).
“But when Sunday observance shall be enforced by law, and the world shall be enlightened concerning the obligation of the true Sabbath, then whoever shall transgress the command of God, to obey a precept which has no higher authority than that of Rome, will thereby honor popery above God. He is paying homage to Rome, and to the power which enforces the institution ordained by Rome. He is worshiping the beast and his image. As men then reject the institution which God has declared to be the sign of his authority, and honor in its stead that which Rome has chosen as the token of her supremacy, they will thereby accept the sign of allegiance to Rome—“the mark of the beast.” And it is not until the issue is thus plainly set before the people, and they are brought to choose between the commandments of God and the commandments of men, that those who continue in transgression will receive “the mark of the beast.” (Great Controversy, p. 449).

Very interesting post.
I did read the article referenced and found it to be very encouraging and provocative. God is opening the eyes of His children and that article is certainly some evidence of that fact. Even though the writer does not have the full facts, he/she is heading in the right direction. We need to help them along the journey. Our job is to continually pray for these individuals and seek to share with them the Truth as it is in Jesus.

There are 18 verses in Revelation 13. Most people rushed straight to verse 17 and ignoring verses 1-16. Most people suddenly became disinterested in understanding verses 1-16 first and foremost which is an odd way to study the Bible. Had they carefully and with discipline studied verses 1, 2, 3 … 16, they would have accurately identified the beast. Then the mark of that very beast would naturally be revealed clearly.
