Bible prophecy warns of a “special relationship” between the two beasts of Revelation 13. The United States, the second beast, will serve as an enabler and promoter of the first beast, Rome, encouraging people to worship it by enforcing the mark of the beast through legal enactments. It is the second beast that will exercise all the same tyrannical power as the first beast, ultimately forcing the world to submit to the papacy. This means that there will be a unique bond between the two beasts, creating a powerful alliance that opposes allegiance to the God of heaven and the keeping of His commandments.
In an interview with Raymond Arroyo, a TV host for the Catholic EWTN channel, at the Al Smith Dinner, a high-profile Roman Catholic charity event, we witness a warm, close, and cozy relationship between the two beasts of Revelation 13. Donald Trump, who just won one of the most historic comeback elections in the history of the United States, claims that Pope Francis wanted Roman Catholics to vote for him. He also expressed that he attended the Catholic dinner to honor the Catholic faith, of which he has long been a supporter. Additionally, Donald Trump spoke of his “special relationship” to the Catholic Church and how he likes Catholicism “a lot.”
When you take his words at face value, it almost gives the illusion that Donald Trump and the Catholic Church are working together in a way that benefits both sides. Furthermore, Trump’s second term will not be hindered like his first one with ongoing investigations and impeachments. This implies that Trump will be able to accomplish anything he wants to since the House, Senate, and Supreme Court will all be controlled by Republicans when he takes office. Do not imagine for a moment that Rome is unaware of this.
With all the hardships, accusations, investigations, attempts to imprison him for life, civil and criminal cases, attempts to bankrupt him, assassination attempts, and efforts to keep him off the 2024 presidential ballot, Donald Trump maintains the belief that God has preserved his life to save America and make it the most powerful nation on earth. In addition to strengthening our economy and securing the border, Donald Trump has promised to restore Christianity in America with more power than ever before. [1]
Does that imply that the churches will have more power than they did in the 1880s when they controlled state legislatures and greater authority than they had during the colonial era blue laws? Yes, read Revelation 13:15–17. We are headed to “a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation” (Daniel 12:1). The new-found restoration of power clearly includes Roman Catholicism. Put differently, Donald Trump has used nice, flattering words when he talks about restoring the power of the churches, which includes the first beast of Revelation 13, Rome, along with its apostate daughters—Protestant America.
Bible prophecy says that the deadly wound will be healed by the strongest of all nations, the United States. In this context, it is quite disconcerting to hear these warm words, marked by a sense of reverence, being offered by the incoming President of the United States, the second beast, to the representatives of the Papacy, the first beast.
Fellow Seventh-day Adventists, what we witnessed this week was not just another presidential election. Something prophetic is taking shape before our eyes. We must pray for God’s mercy that He may restrain the winds of strife and persecution so that we can work to reach people with the final message of warning.
“Especially should we, with unwavering faith, seek God for grace and power to be given to His people now. We do not believe that the time has fully come when He would have our liberties restricted. The prophet saw ‘four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.’ Another angel, ascending from the east, cried to them, saying: ‘Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.’ This points out the work we have now to do. A vast responsibility is devolving upon men and women of prayer throughout the land to petition that God will sweep back the cloud of evil and give a few more years of grace in which to work for the Master. Let us cry to God that the angels may hold the four winds until missionaries shall be sent to all parts of the world and shall proclaim the warning against disobeying the law of Jehovah.” (Testimonies, Vol. 5, p, 717.2)
