On February 6, 2025, President Donald Trump participated in two prayer breakfasts. The first was celebrated at the Washington Hilton Hotel with Paula White, leader of his White House Faith Office. Different religious leaders from around the country attend this event, and it was on this occasion that President Trump announced that the US Attorney General’s Office would work to make our country “One Nation Under God” again. The second prayer breakfast took place at the US Capitol with members of Congress from both parties. President Trump announced to them that it was time to take religion back and make it much stronger. Additionally, Trump asserted that God has a special plan for the United States and that it will come to pass sooner rather than later.
President Trump closed his remarks by urging members of Congress to make religion a much more important factor for this nation. He said that people of religion are going to be happy again and appealed to his audience to bring both God and religion back.
Ellen G. White wrote extensively about the role of the United States in Bible prophecy, particularly in relation to church-state union and the enforcement of religious observances. She identified these events as key signs of the final crisis before Christ’s return.
“When Protestant churches shall unite with the secular power to sustain a false religion, for opposing which their ancestors endured the fiercest persecution, then will the papal sabbath be enforced by the combined authority of church and state. There will be a national apostasy, which will end only in national ruin” (Last Day Events, p. 134).
“In the very act of enforcing a religious duty by secular power, the churches would themselves form an image to the beast; hence the enforcement of Sunday-keeping in the United States would be an enforcement of the worship of the beast and his image” (Great Controversy, p. 448).
“When the leading churches of the United States, uniting upon such points of doctrine as are held by them in common, shall influence the state to enforce their decrees and to sustain their institutions, then Protestant America will have formed an image of the Roman hierarchy, and the infliction of civil penalties upon dissenters will inevitably result” (Great Controversy, p. 445).

The second beast of Rev 13 (USA) is gradually making an image unto the first beast (the papacy), i.e. a union of church and state, that will eventually enforce the papal sabbath (Sunday) on behalf of the first beast and persecute God’s people, who keep the commandments and have the faith of Jesus.
