More than 800 people crowded into the Patmos Chapel Seventh-day Adventist Church in Apopka, Florida, on Sabbath morning, March 18, 2023, to hear the Patmos Chapel SDA Church Praise Team, the Dynamic Praise Choir from Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, and the Sabbath sermon from North American Division President G. Alexander Bryant. Just prior to President Bryant’s message, there was a dynamic worship service that included singing, dancing, jumping, clapping, raising hands, trance-like meditation, and a lot of vain repetitions. The song leader referred to this as a manifestation of Jesus’ presence during the praise service.
Just before President Bryan delivered his sermon, he made the following remarks about the dynamic worship experience, as seen in the video above:
“Let the church say ‘Amen.’ If you’ve been blessed today, say ‘Hallelujah.’ If you really, really been blessed, let me hear you say, ‘Praise the Lord.’ My heart is filled, and I must admit, I must confess, Pastor Doggette, I’ve heard about the worship experience at Patmos. Now I have experienced it, and it is wonderful, uplifting, and spirit-filled. Let’s say ‘amen’ everybody, to dynamic praise, ‘amen’ everybody, and to children’s choir, ‘amen’ everybody. Thank you for your worship experience. Thank you for lifting your voices and giving praise to our God. I would like to extend my congratulations to you on behalf of the 1.2 million members of the North American Division. And Dr. Doggette, thank you for your visionary leadership. Amen everybody. I travel all over this division, and I meet with world leaders. In fact, I met with just 2,000 world leaders just this past Tuesday and Wednesday. And you know what the emphasis is in the world church. It is to have a place like this place … The Seventh-day Adventist Church is moving in that direction.” (YouTube video).
Later in the afternoon, the energetic concert continued. The musical selections were strikingly similar to those frequently found in many Sunday-keeping churches. It is clear that corporate worship is moving farther and farther away from what God intended when we consider the latest musical and worship trends in Adventism.
“From the sacredness which was attached to the earthly sanctuary, Christians may learn how they should regard the place where the Lord meets with His people. There has been a great change, not for the better, but for the worse, in the habits and customs of the people in reference to religious worship. The precious, the sacred, things which connect us with God are fast losing their hold upon our minds and hearts, and are being brought down to the level of common things. The reverence which the people had anciently for the sanctuary where they met with God in sacred service has largely passed away” (Testimonies for the Church Volume 5, p. 491).
What we are witnessing is a worship service gone wrong, with sacred hymns, reverence, and inspiration being replaced by a worship style that looks and sounds an awful lot like Pentecostalism. Our religion is being changed thanks to Pentecostal and charismatic leaders who have invaded the church. Ellen White was shown that as we near the end of time, our worship would become corrupted:
“The things you have described as taking place in Indiana, the Lord has shown me would take place just before the close of probation. Every uncouth thing will be demonstrated. There will be shouting, with drums, music, and dancing. The senses of rational beings will become so confused that they cannot be trusted to make right decisions. And this is called the moving of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit never reveals Itself in such methods, in such a bedlam of noise. This is an invention of Satan to cover up his ingenious methods for making of none effect the pure, sincere, elevating, ennobling, sanctifying truth for this time. Better never have the worship of God blended with music than to use musical instruments to do the work which last January was represented to me would be brought into our camp meetings. The truth for this time needs nothing of this kind in its work of converting souls. A bedlam of noise shocks the senses and perverts that which if conducted aright might be a blessing. The powers of satanic agencies blend with the din and noise, to have a carnival, and this is termed the Holy Spirit’s working” (Selected Messages, Vol. 2, p. 36).
Satan’s type of worship is being urged within Adventism. And as we will see in Part 2, President G. Alexander Bryant has a vision for the future of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America that includes dynamic worship styles as well as other significant changes for our local churches. Ready or not, the changes are coming.

Disgrace to the worship of King Jesus. I am so saddened by this display of heathenism in a so called SDA church. Although out prophet Mrs. EG White warns us of this apostasy in end times.
I thank God for Bill Hughes at Truth Triumphant Ministries for proclaiming the Bible and the Bible alone.

Donna+Meyer says
Elizabeth, I completely agree with you. I’M so embarrassed and ashamed of this great apostasy among our leaders. They are actually praising Satan. I can see the Lord’s Angelic host covering their heads in shame for this outrageous display of blasphemy against our Holy God, Creator, and Savior. I also watch Bill Hughes and Conrad Vine; in case you aren’t familiar with Conrad Vine, go on youtube.com and watch, “The Naked Emperor,” you won’t be disappointed:)
Lorraine Rusconi says
I 100% agree with you Elizabeth, this is heart-breaking to watch, I would never attend a SDA church that worshiped in this manner.
Chandra Brown says
Demon possession!
Frank McMiller says
Unbelievable that anyone in their right mind could attach this to be anything related to worship with which God would be pleased.
Ellen White pegged it 1000% for what it is…Satanic expression. Was she ever explicit in describing the end time condition of our church.
Is it her that is out of touch? Or is it a leadership that is going off the rails of sensibility?
God forbid our church to come to this. How will any genuine soul winners trying to bring people into the remnant be inspired to introduce
people into this bedlam experience is more than I will ever know.
I cannot hold back from saying that I was hoping for a lot more leadership after God’s own heart to come from our new Division president.
If this is his idea of leadership and his vision for the church’s future…GOD HELP US! I want to get as far from thisdisplay of sacrilege as I can get.
I choose never to abandon the Truth as it is in Jesus, but if our churches succumb to this degraded state of false religion and emotionalism
I’ll have church at home, and I’ll encourage as many people as I can to avoid participating in this profanity and desecration of holiness and irreligion.
Andy Roman says
Pastor McMiller, you have been a faithful watchman and worker in the church for years, and this is happening so that we can take our eyes off of men, and follow Jesus who has nothing to do with this desecration. Obviously, we cannot participate in the spirit that is behind those performances.
Pr. Juan Colon says
the problem is that people in the administration is pushing these praising istyle God be with us.
Lorraine Rusconi says
Thank you Frank, my sentiments exactly.
Marie says
This is part of the Omega of Apostasy and the NAD President is leading the way.
Adrian says
There is so much to be said Many of our churches have been trending this way for years so this truly does not come as a shock. Israel looked to the world aka other nations and wanted what the world had .. today “Israel” is repeating the same grave mistake.
Sadly much of this is to draw and hold the attention of the younger generation who find the “old” way of worshipping boring. This is also partially related to the lack of solid mentorship we’ve had over the years.
If we are honest the decision where to worship now is very much like shopping for groceries. We have to check the ingredients to make sure there is nothing harmful before purchasing or attending. Gone are the days of just attending an SDA church and being confident that the service will be a service that is pleasing to God. Are we getting close to the days of home churches?
Pr. Juan Colon says
that is correct.
Debby says
WHAT A BEDLAM OF NOISE ,THIS IS DISPECABLE, IT MAKES YOU WANT TO THROW UP! WHAT KIND OF DRUGS ARE THESE PEOPLE ON REALLY!
Dana says
This is a Democrat gathering not a worship service. Adventist conservatives take note and come out of her. We will need to have our own churches and our own conferences.
Danene Huntting says
The shaking is and will continue to happen. They will be the ones to leave the true church. We need to stay settled and know what we really believe. We are never to call the church Babylon nor are we to leave her and start new churches. Sister White said the church will appear as about to fall, but it won’t. I cling to that promise knowing it came from the Holy Spirit.
Pr. Juan Colon says
Is a sad thing that this is happening. The Holy Spirit guide us.
Bob says
Turn your closed captioning on and go to 6:56.
Bryant mentioned “Centers of Influence” but the AI closed captioning typed out “Sinners of influence”. So who got it right, Bryant or the AI?
Has the AI been reading Sister White’s prophecies of the Omega apostasy?
When is the golden calf going to pop out of the fire?
There was enough gold on stage to form a nice, fat one.
Lene Bilde says
The same thing is happening here in Europe… Jesus is coming very soon.
Teingo says
We are living in a very sad time . People who we used look up-to are being deceived right and left.
Terri says
We are indeed living in sad times. So much judgment. So much criticism.
I am looking for the love of Christ. No wonder our churches are losing members. We are so eager to condemn each other in the church. Shall we watch it implode with hate? Everyone has an opinion. Self righteousness abounds.
Wasn’t it David who was judged by his wife as he unashamedly danced and worshipped in the streets. Wasn’t the singing and celebrating during the triumphal entry of Jesus condemned by the Pharisees and Jesus reply was if not these people even the rocks would cry out! Aren’t the angels continually and repetitively sing hallelujah throughout the ages.
This may not be my favorite BUT. What I know is that I am Gods favorite daughter- predestined, called, justified, and glorified. And so are you unless you opt out.
I will celebrate with my life, my voice, my body….no rock is going to out worship me!
God is worthy of all our life. It’s time to tell the world why.
Tom Magnusson says
“I am Gods favorite daughter- predestined, called, justified, and glorified”
Even if any of that is true, to go around telling people that paints a picture of someone boastful, prideful and possibly insecure.
Chandra Brown says
While events in the secular world is advancing toward perdition, for the enemy has stepped up his attacks, we ought not be surprised at this despicable behavior by leading men in the church. The woman of God told us this would happen and worse as did Israel of old, at the border of Canaan.

God is giving us but a glimpse in the keyhole as He gave Ezekiel what is going on in “Jerusalem.” Get ready! Get ready! Get ready!
Wayne says
Atrocities of our denomination never seem to cease. Tipping, sliding and appearing about to fall. Awaken fellow believers. Do not become a willing target of the enemy.
Henry Jones Jr. says
When an Adventist worship service features a lady jumping up and down to a drumbeat and chanting “his name is G”, you know we’ve reached the end of the world.
Pat Quarles says
God sees it all his church will not fall. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Stand for the truth in your churches, and continue to watch, and pray.
Slevhammer says
Everyone should let the NAD President know exactly what a disgrace this is. If we sit back and say nothing, it will only get worse. The General Conference needs to put a stop to it or get rid of this NAD President. They’re turning God’s house of worship into a farce. I noticed the singers were also wearing jewelry.
