Resurgence & Ecologist is Britain’s oldest environmental magazine. They are dedicated to “reconnecting with the living earth” through ecological renewal, climate justice and environmental activism. Resurgence & Ecologist says that finding a solution to climate change can take time and that developing alternative sources of clean energy can be a long process. However, they also claim that if we would simply declare Sunday a “fossil fuel free day” or an “energy saving day,” we would not have to wait for a technological fix to the climate crisis. Resurgence & Ecologist believes that by establishing “Green Sunday” we can have immediate solutions today. This Green Sunday solution for the planet is coming from a secular organization. Notice what they published:
“Not long ago Sunday used to be a day of rest, a day of spiritual renewal, a day for families to come together, but we have changed Sunday from a day of rest to a day of shopping, flying and driving. However, in the context of excessive carbon emissions into the atmosphere, which are bringing catastrophic upheavals, we can and should restore Sunday to a day for Gaia, the Earth. There will be no great hardship in cutting down all non-essential and non-urgent use of fossil fuels for one day a week. We can easily close supermarkets, department stores and petrol stations, stop deliveries and reduce mobility to the bare essentials. We can enjoy Sunday once more with our family and friends, or by gardening, writing, painting, walking or simply spending time in contemplation. This will be good for our personal health as well as for the health of the planet. At a stroke, we can reduce by one seventh our carbon emissions into the atmosphere.” [1]
This is exactly what Pope Francis has been trying to accomplish with his encyclical on climate change for the past few years. This is also what the Vatican delegation will be campaigning for during COP26 in Glasgow. The Mother Earth climate movement and Rome’s Sunday laws are joined at the hip. They are one in the same. You cannot separate them. Here we see how secular climate activists have embraced Rome’s Sunday worship as the answer to the climate crisis. The rocks are crying out!
Brothers and sisters, are we prepared for the coming Sunday law crisis? It is obvious that a weekly Sunday rest is being offered as a solution to the so-called climate crisis. And do not imagine that the Sunday rest issue will go away. The proposal to impose Sunday in response to climate change will only intensify. Even God told us this would happen:
“It will be declared that men are offending God by the violation of the Sunday sabbath; that this sin has brought calamities which will not cease until Sunday observance shall be strictly enforced” (Great Controversy, p. 590).
Unless God intervenes, we are about to witness the passage of radical environmental policies that will favor Sunday closing measures. All that is needed is for world leaders meeting at COP26 to declare a “climate emergency” just as they did during the Covid-19 pandemic. Have we forgotten how political leaders unilaterally suspended civil rights, closed churches, stopped travel and closed businesses through oppressive Covid-19 mandates? They are also trying to force everyone to receive mandatory vaccinations. So, under a climate emergency, we can envision the call for a weekly rest day for the planet.
Let’s not forget that Pope Francis for the last 5 years has made very strong appeals to business leaders, church leaders and political leaders to listen to the “Cry of the Earth.” This “Cry of the Earth” is a direct quote from Laudato Si’, the Pope’s climate encyclical. This is a call to protect the planet from climate change and to make Sunday the day of creation. Rome is in favor of promoting environmental policies that favor Sunday rest for the people. This is not a conspiracy theory; this is a conspiracy fact. The push for Sunday rest for the environment fits in perfectly with all other events that we see in the world, indicating that the end is very near.
This is not the time for us to be negligent or to act contrary to the duty that God has given us at this time. God has a true day of rest and worship and it is the seventh-day Sabbath, Saturday, the day of the Lord. Every Seventh-day Adventist media ministry should be warning the world of this coming threat without hesitation. The enemies of present truth grow bolder each day as they try to exalt Sunday as the day of rest for the world. Sadly, demonic forces are causing many of our people to act indifferent at this solemn moment in history:
“The effort that is being made to press through the Sunday law should be vigorously met; for we are not ready for that issue. The crisis is right upon us, and soon the last issue will have to be met. Every talent held in trust by God’s people should now be employed to advocate the truth as it is in Jesus, to cause it to stand before the world in clear lines. The work that is being done by some to counterwork the Lord’s warnings is the consequence of the devising of satanic agencies. We now present our case to heaven, asking God to work in our behalf” (Letter 72, 1906).

I had in the past read a book which said that National Sunday Law would be called an Environmental Sabbath.
But today the National Sunday Law is called Green Sunday. You can change the name but the intent is the same:
NATIONAL … SUNDAY … LAW!

Now the message should be! The trompet is about to blow God is calling each of us to be ready because His return is near

Joining the climate change movement is no less than joining idolatry. Just as the idol worshippers of Old Testament times, those involved in climate change activism are falling into a false system of salvation by works rather than having the faith of Jesus. Now it is clear how the three angel’s messages are, in reality, the truth of righteousness by faith (and not of works).

You are exactly on the right track. Now take it a little further, and you’ll see how the controversy will be *what* we worship, not *when.*
Ron says
I know this will be anathema here, but the climate “crisis” controversy will end with far more than a Sunday law, and the controversy will not focus on the “day” so much as it will be about “what” is worshiped. Just as “15 days to stop the spread” turned into far more than 15 days, and led to the continued murders of people worldwide through the vax program, the push for vaccine passports and a social credit system, Sunday will not be the only day they will want us to stop using fossil fuels or any other climate-polluting resource or activity. “Sunday” is simply the camel poking its nose through the tent door. It gets worse from there. The goal is the worship of the earth, Gaia, old school paganism repackaged for the modern era, and the very worship of satan himself.
What Adventists have failed to do (and failed to teach) is, exactly how is a “Sunday law” in itself anti-Biblical. THIS is the part you will find anathema: A Sunday law to worship, in itself, means nothing. What will this law require us to do? A “Sunday law” can never force people to “go to church” on Sunday or stop the worship of God on Saturday, the seventh day. The article correctly mentions how the state prevented people from CONGREGATING, but it can’t stop worship. In addition, what could possibly convince all the atheists, Muslims, Buddhists, Sikhs, agnostics, animists, and all the other 5 billion+ non-Christians to go to church on Sunday? And what could prevent Christians from truly worshiping God on Saturday, or any other day Christians choose?
The world does not care about a day of rest. The Catholic church does not care about Sunday. They do not care about Saturday. They are an anti-Christ, the first beast of Revelation 13, and satan is using them (and all the “elite”) to bring about the worship of the planet, the worship of Gaia, nature worship, IDOLATRY. Sunday will be the day that will be the special focus of our “homage” to the earth, but it will be far more about idolatry than Sabbath desecration.
Whereas a Sunday law cannot make people worship on Sunday, or any other day, what the law *can* do is require us to pay homage, somehow, to the earth, thereby directly violating the first two commandments. I believe the final events will be focused on *who* and *how* we worship, not *when* we worship. The whole world is already behind earth worship. The idea transcends all national borders, religions, languages, socio-economic constructs, and political ideologies, and all the rest. It is the ONE controversial issue that the whole world could be united on, and it will be those who refuse to yield to the demands of the state that will be economically sanctioned, prevented from buying and selling.
I think it’s time for Adventists to reevaluate what current events are telling us and how they will play out in the end times. Adventists are so focused on a “Sunday law” that they are missing the bigger picture. Here’s an even bigger heretical statement I’ll make: We all need to start reading (and quoting) the Bible a whole lot more, and Ellen White a whole lot less.
