“They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.” Deuteronomy 32:17.
On August 6, 2023, in the city of Oruro, Bolivia, political and religious leaders celebrated an interfaith religious worship service in which Shamans, or guides to the spirit world, offered “food and drinks to the sacred Pachamama,” according to news sources. [1] Pachamama is a term used in the Andes region of South America and is a reference to Mother Earth. She is worshipped as a deity who, according to Inca mythology, is the source of life, providing everything needed for survival.
The Municipal Government of Oruro, Bolivia, published the above Facebook post, which said the following:
“The interreligious ceremony takes place with the presence of the mayor Adhemar Wilcarani Morales, departmental and municipal authorities. This act is carried out by the Suyus Jach’a Karangas and Suras (indigenous tribes), in addition to the Seventh-day Adventist Church.” (Facebook post).
During the interfaith ceremony, various Shamans, who claim to be guides to the spirit world and to have the power to interact with the Andean gods, openly offered food and drink offerings to Pachamama. One of the witch doctors expressed the following during the interfaith ceremony:
“We are making the offering to Pachamama in order for the Andean gods to protect the state and power of our national government. First and foremost, there is the offering to Pachamama as expressed in the Andean religion. These are ancestral beliefs deeply instituted by our Andean culture.” [2]
This was pure divination taking place. The Shamans believe themselves to be human intermediaries between people and the pagan gods. The offerings of food and drinks to Pachamama are acts of worship, as they sought favors from the earth goddess. These were gestures of gratitude and devotion. They were openly seeking protection from Pachamama.
The local press also reported that Seventh-day Adventist Pastor Guillermo Cruz Mamani, from the “Central Bolivian Mission,” was present and represented the Adventist Church. [3] During the interfaith service, Pastor Guillermo Cruz Mamani expressed the following words in a video that was published by the Municipal Government of Oruro, Bolivia:
“In the interfaith ceremony, we have given a message of hope for all Bolivians because Bolivians are in full dress. The Lord loves them, the Lord appreciates them, and because of this, this interfaith religious ceremony is something very special for all Bolivians.” [4]
The problem is that when Adventists attend these ecumenical events that make offerings to pagan deities and then fail to warn people against idolatry, we are actually validating these worship services. We show that we support their false worship. We condone this abomination because people are openly communicating with the spirit world, which is completely contrary to God’s word.
Idolatry is something that is abhorred by God (Exodus 20:1–6). During this interfaith celebration, God is made equal to Pachamama, or Mother Earth. Truth and error, light and darkness, and Christ and Beelzebub become one of the same—all in the name of peace and unity! They are crying, “Peace, peace; when there is no peace” (Jeremiah 6:14). Far from obtaining peace, they are “treasuring up wrath unto the day of wrath” (Romans 2:5).
God’s word clearly tells us that “they sacrificed unto devils, not to God” (Deuteronomy 32:17). Who were these offerings made to? Who were the people being directed to? The devil! Our pastors and leaders seem to believe that they can all unite with paganism and pantheistic expressions and that everything will be fine. If we don’t warn people about idolatry, we don’t love them. We become disingenuous by attending these ecumenical encounters. Are we going to accept and tolerate interfaith idolatry on earth only to reject it in heaven? We will never be in heaven if we believe that we can simply remain silent during a time when Baal worship is being universally revived.
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20:3.
“Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.” 1 Corinthians 10:14.
“Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” 1 John 5:21.
“But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.” 1 Corinthians 10:20.
“And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him.” 1 Kings 18:21.
“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:14.
“Will ye … burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not; And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?” Jeremiah 7:9, 10.

Precious souls gave their lives to bring people out of this type of beliefs. Now, our “pastors” are trying to bring them back into it. They should be ashamed of themselves. These so called pastors, will be found wanting in the judgement!
Lorraine Rusconi says
LINDA, I agree with you, SDA pastors that think they have to unite, go along with, take part in, condone or whatever, to show love to everyone, are wrong. This is idol worship, pure and simple, or worshiping another god and not our Kind and Heavenly Father in Heaven.
God in Heaven is the only God we should worship!!!!!

These are actually solidifying their title of priest, pastors do not offer sacrifices

Reading Jeremiah’s Lamentations with the current typological connotation in perspective should rebuke all these fallen leaders.
Since our churches backsliding 130 years ago we’ve been contending with the world instead of God and His will.
With the now outright acts against God such as leaders condoning demon worship- leaving and leading their brothers and sisters dead in trespass, He must allow Satan to make claim of his children.
Fires consume what give them life as parasites and cancer do. When we push away the life-giver we must by consequence die. It’s logical. It’s consequence. It’s just.
In living in this world instead of in Christ we’ve become blind as before the awakening.
Satan’s counterfeit, the great slumbering to the message has become so effective that Adventists would celebrate in open transgression the worship of Satan.

So there’s another aspect to consider besides the ignorance of aligning oneself with Satan’s ministry. The accounts payable department.
Woe unto him who calls evil good.
Their blood be on your hands.
This curse, this plea from God, this warning is not a punishment but a warning blast across the bow. As we selfishly love our own lives focusing today on bills, food, transportation, lifestyle, friendships, retirements, projects, etc. – folks all around us observe our breaking of the law. Puffing ourselves up as watchmen we take Jesus name in vain calling ourselves Christian while those around observe our disregard of God. We “have to live our lives” and so justifying putting off the lord we immerse ourselves in the world yet claiming to not be drenched by its sin soaking associations?
Our mission is according to Solomon, Jesus, and John to keep the commandments, spread the gospel warning, and seeking after the will of God. Everything else is distraction. Satan would allow riches to distract unto death. Riches in pride, riches in power, riches in familial duties, etc. – see Job’s family, Eli’s, Adam’s- even Jesus’s own came to take him away from his ministry! To say your purpose in earth is to live and raise a family is denying God’s clearly written word to justify your acceptance of being consumed by fire. Thou shalt not deceive- especially thyself!
In my sinful life i committed innumerable sins. One subject being indulgence of appetite. While God is faithful to forgive my confessed sins, i must yet endure the consequences of poor health, high medical costs, a shortened life span, and a suffering ending.
While in that life my brothers and sisters witnessed my example. They formed opinions of Adventists, the Bible, God, etc that will undoubtedly influence their eternal future.
Should i discover myself in attendance during the first resurrection someday i wonder how joyous i can be when considering a lifetime of God’s work neglected. What if i hadn’t been so prodigal for so long? A lifetime of possible eternal love shared with others lost in pursuit of selfish desire. We are our brothers keeper and while the Lord is merciful to forgive the past remains and heavens roll call will as well.
Every moment of every day is one our creator is faithful to preserve us in. Every opportunity we have should be anticipated with the desire to fulfill His will.
The love of God actually reciprocated supersedes any earthly priorities, even of life itself. Paul testifies that only the love of fellow man kept him from his desire to be united with Jesus.
These sickening priests are like grievous wolves tearing the Lord’s flock asunder while the leaders themselves act as lookout being Satan’s watchmen.
Woe to the elders in league with the beast! Read the Lamentations! You’re ending will be worse than Rome’s!

Amen!

When we ignore the warnings of God, we do so at the peril of our souls.
“And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.” 2 Corinthians 6:16, 17.

“And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel.” Numbers 25:1-3.

KJV James 4:4
4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
The followers of Christ are to separate themselves from sinners, choosing their society only when there is opportunity to do them good. We cannot be too decided in shunning the company of those who exert an influence to draw us away from God. While we pray, “Lead us not into temptation,” we are to shun temptation, so far as possible. {PP 458.2}

This is exactly what Pope Francis is calling for in his universal fraternity. These men are fulfilling Rome’s dictates, not God’s.

So many of our people lack spiritual discernment. I am sure this pastor does not mean to give legitimacy to the shaman religious practices but he must realize that his very presence gives legitimacy to paganism. We can be friendly to those outside the Seventh-day Adventist church without joining ecumenical worship services. We need to learn to say “No” more and not give in to the peer pressure of ecumenism. I think we would gain more respect than people realize that way. Are you listening Ganoune Diop?
