Participation in the global market and international trade is essential for nations because being connected drives economic development and prosperity. In the context of the final crisis during the mark of the beast, economic systems are expected to play a pivotal role as tools for control and compliance. According to Revelation 13:16-17, the mark of the beast will be tied to the ability to buy and sell, revealing to us that in the last days, global economic systems will become highly centralized and regulated to ensure that Sunday is respected as the day of rest.
This is exactly what is happening today in Israel. On December 31, 2024, The Times of Israel reported the following:
• “Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich on Monday approved a shift to a Monday-to-Friday trading week to align the local stock exchange with global standards and markets abroad.” [1]
• “Smotrich said that the transition away from the current Sunday-to-Thursday trading week is intended to adapt the local capital market so it overlaps more with the trading week and hours on Wall Street and European bourses.” [1]
• “Changing the trading days is a central component of our vision to strengthen the connection between the Israeli capital market, the Israeli economy, and global markets,” Smotrich said. “This move will allow global investors to access the Israeli capital market more easily, invest in our attractive local market without unnecessary and harmful barriers, and strengthen the Israeli economy in the long term.” [1]
In the last days, prophecy reveals that participation in the coming global economy will become contingent upon nations and individuals embracing Sunday as the universal day of rest and worship, aligning with the papal mark of apostasy described in Revelation 13. Nations will be compelled to adopt this system under a “pay-to-play” scheme, where compliance with Sunday laws becomes a prerequisite for access to global markets and financial systems. Those who reject this mandate will face economic exclusion and persecution, fulfilling the prophecy that no one will buy or sell without the mark. This scenario reflects a unification of political and religious powers, using economic systems as tools of coercion to enforce false worship and undermine individual liberty of conscience.
“In the last great conflict of the controversy with Satan those who are loyal to God will see every earthly support cut off. Because they refuse to break His law in obedience to earthly powers, they will be forbidden to buy or sell. It will finally be decreed that they shall be put to death. But to the obedient is given the promise, ‘He shall dwell on high: his place of defense shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.’ Isaiah 33:16. By this promise the children of God will live. When the earth shall be wasted with famine, they shall be fed” (Desire of Ages, p. 121).
