WorldCrunch is a Paris-based, secular news agency that publishes news in 15 different languages and is active in more than 40 different nations. They published an article on July 15, 2023, titled “Measuring What Is Gained With Car-Free Cities—Including Cash Profits.” The story featured pictures of people walking and riding bicycles, together with the words “Car-Free Sundays.” The article praised the “Car-Free Sundays” initiative by attributing to it both health and monetary benefits. New studies were cited, telling us that all the data is conclusive and transparent. WorldCrunch reported the following:
Data in favor of pedestrianization (car-free) are increasingly conclusive and transparent. Two recent articles support this. Research carried out in 14 Spanish cities concluded that pedestrianization increased the income of businesses and that, once changes were implemented, most residents preferred a friendly, walkable environment to a car-oriented one. A study in Copenhagen also found that for every kilometer of bike lane built in the Danish capital, €400,000 (euros) in benefits were generated per year through a reduction in transport, healthcare and accident costs.” [1]• “
public health, through reduced costs from a healthier population, and for safety, through reduced accident costs. The net benefit is large and positive.” [1]• “These are direct benefits for cyclists, in terms of time and convenience, for
There you have it. The data is in, and the so-called experts have spoken. The new studies have concluded that Car-Free Sundays are a public health benefit. Do you remember the coercive lockdowns and health mandates that were enacted during the Covid pandemic in the interest of public health? Now we are being told that certain studies have concluded that Car-Free Sundays are a benefit for a “healthier population.”
The idea that Sunday is the official day of rest is being implanted into the minds of people today. Car-free Sunday has two primary purposes. First, to encourage people to reduce the negative environmental effects created by driving cars, and second, to establish in society the idea that Sunday is the day for rest and relaxation.
There is nothing wrong with encouraging people to exercise by walking, cycling, or riding a skateboard. We should be participating in activities that improve our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The problem with Car-free Sundays is that Sunday is being presented as the day to foster a sense of community by encouraging interaction, participation, awareness, increased business, cash profits, and temporal prosperity.
Car-free Sunday is an obvious attempt to establish Sunday as a special day for the community. We were warned in the book The Great Controversy that the temperance work would be “combined with the Sunday movement.”
“Here the temperance work, one of the most prominent and important of moral reforms, is often combined with the Sunday movement, and the advocates of the latter represent themselves as laboring to promote the highest interest of society; and those who refuse to unite with them are denounced as the enemies of temperance and reform … It is one of Satan’s devices to combine with falsehood just enough truth to give it plausibility. The leaders of the Sunday movement may advocate reforms which the people need, principles which are in harmony with the Bible, yet while there is with these a requirement which is contrary to God’s law, his servants cannot unite with them. Nothing can justify them in setting aside the commandments of God for the precepts of men” (Great Controversy, p. 587).
Recently, we have been seeing calls for work-free Sundays. Sunday is regarded as a special day for a variety of reasons, both religious and secular. However, we understand where this is headed:
“Yet this very class put forth the claim that the fast-spreading corruption is largely attributable to the desecration of the so-called ‘Christian Sabbath,’ and that the enforcement of Sunday observance would greatly improve the morals of society” (Great Controversy, p. 587).
With all the widespread Sunday agitation going around, God’s people must respond with strategic evangelism. Now is the time to share the truth that addresses the Sabbath question with those in our neighborhoods and communities.
“My brethren, you cannot afford to bury yourselves in worldly enterprises or interests. You cannot afford to neglect the commission given you by the Saviour. Everything in the universe calls upon those who know the truth to consecrate themselves unreservedly to the proclamation of the truth as it has been made known to them in the third angel’s message. That which we see and hear calls us to our duty. The working of satanic agencies calls every Christian to stand in his lot” (Testimonies, Vol. 9, p. 25).

There is of course nothing wrong with people who accept and believe the whole story presented by the Climate Change Cult, choosing not to drive cars on Sunday or any day. Mandating such though, is another story altogether. This is a good avenue for developing and getting people use to mandates regarding Sunday. You can’t have masses of people riding bikes, walking, and driving cars on the roads at the same time. Such would represent a major safety issue, and we all already know how willing the government is, to create mandates for our own protection and good of course. The tricky part in all of this, is revealing the real agenda behind all of these movements, which in and of themselves do not really represent evil intentions among those who think they are helping by their cooperation or submission to intrusive mandates. Liberty is the issue, especially religious liberty. Which our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ sacrificed His life to establish in this world, along with so many of His authentic followers throughout history. The religion and or religions behind and or supporting endless liberty destroying mandates, in countries all around the world, do in fact represent evil. Not only in that they destroy personal liberties in doing so, but they dare to raise themselves even above God. Who has not, and will not force Himself upon any. As such has nothing at all to do with establishing faith. Though there will come a day, when all will stand before Him. Unto His pure, holy, undefiled, justified, sanctified, and righteous judgment.
Deu 32:1 Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. 2 My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass: 3 Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God. 4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

They want us to simply accept their findings, just as they wanted us to accept the vaccination recommendations without question.

I don’t know about the money aspect, but walking and riding bikes is certainly better for one’s health than driving a car. I doubt anyone would seriously dispute that.
