The Seventh-day Adventist Church will be prominently featured on national television on Christmas Day, December 25, 2022. The Southwest Region Conference of Seventh-day Adventists published this announcement on their official website. The statement reads:
“The Southwest Region Conference, the Southwestern Union Conference, and the Texas Conference, in collaboration with the Interfaith Broadcasting Commission, are pleased to present the national television Christmas Special, “Come Adore Him,” which will be aired on ABC Television affiliates across the United States on Christmas Eve, December 24, and Christmas Day, December 25!” [1]
“Come Adore Him” features the preaching ministry of our Dr. Carlton P. Byrd, President of the Southwest Region Conference, along with the music ministry of gospel award winning artist, Jonathan McReynolds; Naomi Raine of Maverick City Music; Southwestern Adventist University’s Symphony Orchestra and Singers; and the 500 Voice Children’s Mass Choir (composed of our SDA elementary students in the North Central Texas area) under the direction of Gale Jones Murphy.” [1]
Will the world’s final warnings, as contained in the Three Angels’ Messages, be presented during this television special? God’s last message of mercy is found in The Three Angels’ Messages, which must be delivered to this final generation in order to dispel the myth that God’s law is not necessary. Revelation 14 is designed to awaken the world from its slumber because it contains the most solemn message ever entrusted to mortal men. Will they bring this light and truth to all the viewers on December 25, 2022?
Or will it be a watered-down, ecumenical message that any other church could easily preach? Will it be a message devoid of the faith and stripped of the present truths that the people need to hear in these last days? The existence of present truth is controversial. The preaching of present truth is even more controversial because it does not sit well with a lot of people who like their God subservient to their own distortions of truth. In this modern age of multiculturalism, nobody wants to be bothered with the fine print in the Bible.
When Jesus came to this world, notice the condition that He saw the people in, as well as the method and strategy He used to reach souls:
“He saw his people deceived, self-satisfied, and asleep in their sins. He longed to rouse them to a holier life. The message that God had given him to bear was designed to startle them from their lethargy, and cause them to tremble because of their great wickedness” (Desire of Ages, pp. 103, 104).
“Before the seed of the gospel could find lodgment, the heart must be broken up. Before they would seek healing from Jesus, they must be awakened to their danger from the wounds of sin” (Ibid., p. 104).
“God does not send messengers to flatter the sinner. He delivers no message to lull the unsanctified into fatal security. He lays heavy burdens upon the conscience of the wrongdoer, and pierces the soul with arrows of conviction. The ministering angels present to him the fearful judgments of God to deepen the sense of need, and prompt the cry, ‘What must I do to be saved?’ Then the hand that has humbled in the dust, lifts up the penitent. The voice that has rebuked sin, and put to shame pride and ambition, inquires with tenderest sympathy, ‘What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee?’ ” (Ibid., p. 104).
Most of today’s leaders in Adventism will barely mention the Three Angels’ Messages without ever venturing too far into them. They are either afraid or ashamed of our message. But these same leaders have no problem attacking those who preach these messages in all their fullness. Revelation 14:6–12 are the words of God, and God put them there to be applied. It is therefore not bigoted, malicious, or hateful to attempt to understand, apply, or preach these apocalyptic narratives to the world, lest we conclude that the word of God should be classified as such. The Three Angels’ Messages provide the solutions to the current global faith crisis we see today. May God grant us the courage to present His true, lasting solutions to all people before it is too late.

It is so sad when the lay people are trying to witness to the world about pagan holidays, and our church goes and does something like this! We are a contradiction in words and deeds. I am wondering when the shaking is going to start, so that God can shake out those that love the world more than they love God, His church, and the truth???
Tanya Piper says
Yes but remember this , Ellen G White said
“ yes , Yes, we know it’s a PAGAN holiday, but let none be so narrow minded they can’t enjoy the day “
Joe says
What is really “Narrow minded” is to use a quote
From EGW out of context to try to justify celebrating what we know to be a Pagan Holiday . 1 Thessalonians 5:22 2 Abstain from all appearance of evil. The conference has become an arm of the Papacy and I thank God for independent ministries that point out these apostasies to open the eyes of all of God’s children. Thank you Brother Andy
God Bless
Tanya Piper says
No not out of context at all Joe . It’s a direct quote
by Ellen White . I was shocked when I read it too . But it makes sense to enjoy the day
Gco410 says
It’s like the communion without the catholic Eucharist beliefs!
Leonard says
Tanya could you please reference this quote from Sis. White. I can’t find it. thanks
Eric Doering says
We can enjoy the day in the same way that we enjoy February the 5th, or the third Wednesday of every other month. What would be Scripturally incorrect would be to partake of the customs of the world practiced upon the day.
I tried to find the quote doing keyword searches on the EGW website and couldn’t. Can you provide a reference?
Celina N. says
Hi Tanya, please reference EVERYTHING you post , whether it be scripture or SOP. I believe you’re referring to the following text?
“Although we do not know the exact day of Christ’s birth, we would honor the sacred event. May the Lord forbid that any one should be so narrow-minded as to over-look the event because there is an uncertainty in regard to the exact time. Let us do what we can to fasten the minds of the children upon those things which are precious to every one who loves Jesus. Let us teach them how Jesus came into the world to bring hope, comfort, peace, and happiness to all. The angels explained the reason of their great joy, saying, “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” Then, children and youth, as you celebrate the coming Christmas, will you not count up the many things for which you are to be grateful, and will you not present a gratitude offering to Christ, and so reveal that you do appreciate the heavenly Gift?” RH December 17, 1889, par. 7

A national TV special on the “christened” pagan celebration of the rebirth of the sun god is not how God will finish the work. Not even close. He does not mix truth with error… that is the work of Satan and of those that are under Satan’s control.
The following was penned in response to a poor decision by G. I. Butler to close down a school project in Rome, New York due to lack of funding, but the idea is fully applicable to the present time.
“Unless those who can help in New York are roused to a sense of their duty, they will not recognize the work of God when the loud cry of the third angel shall be heard. When light goes forth to lighten the earth, instead of coming up to the help of the Lord, they will want to bind about His work to meet their narrow ideas. Let me tell you that the Lord will work in this last work in a manner very much out of the common order of things, and in a way that will be contrary to any human planning. There will be those among us who will always want to control the work of God, to dictate even what movements shall be made when the work goes forward under the direction of the angel who joins the third angel in the message to be given to the world. God will use ways and means by which it will be seen that He is taking the reins in His own hands. The workers will be surprised by the simple means that God will use to bring about and perfect His work of righteousness.” 4LtMs, Lt 5, 1885, par. 5
Those joining together with the heathen and learning their ways (Jeremiah 10:1-4) through celebration of their unsanctified “holy” times (Deut. 18:10, Lev. 19:26, Gal. 4:10), will not be able to “recognize the work of God when the loud cry of the third angel shall be heard.” Instead, they will find it an easy thing to move from one concession to the next until coming into such a close unity with Babylon, that there will no longer be a line of distinction. We are essentially at this stage now. We should expect that the next moves will result in our beloved SDA denomination speaking more and more as a dragon, even though it still tries to mask it’s true condition by virtue of it’s two lamb-like horns.
“This vision (Revelation 13:11-17) that Christ presented to John, presenting the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, is to be definitely proclaimed to all nations, peoples, and tongues. The churches, represented by Babylon, are represented as having fallen from their spiritual state to become a persecuting power against those who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. To John this persecuting power is represented as having horns like a lamb, but as speaking like a dragon.” 18MR 29.1
Some might argue that this is referring only to the “apostate protestant churches”, and not the SDA denomination; but since 1844, the protestant churches have been in a “fallen” condition by their rejection of the advent message, the Sabbath, the state of the dead, etc. This is why during the midnight cry of the 1840’s, the message when out “Babylon is fallen, is fallen.” The above manuscript was written around 60 years later in the early 1900’s and is clearly written in an end-time context. She wrote it because what God had presented to her left her unable to sleep, presumably for the significance of the impression placed upon her mind, possibly for her anguish of soul. She was not referencing the already fallen protestant churches – this could not have have left an impression strong enough to rob her sleep – but rather the church that was supposed to be the recipient and guardian of truth; the church to which she dedicated her life’s work. This is the church that falls from it’s spiritual state in the last days and then becomes a persecuting power. Please don’t let it slip past you that this church that becomes a persecuting power in the last days, is represented to John (by Christ) as having horns like a lamb, but as speaking like a dragon! What? Read it again, because this is monumentally important.
I love all my SDA brothers and sisters. I appreciate what I believe brother Andy Roman is doing on this website. However, in light of the innumerable evidences (not excluding this Saturnalia special on ABC) that our church has firmly planted itself on a false foundation and unhallowed ground, we cannot continue wondering if this same apostate corporation will somehow suddenly change its spots and decide to give God’s message during its abominable programs. Let’s open our eyes and call things out as they are. To do otherwise is to encourage those who are seeing the apostacy and hearing the call to come out of Babylon to instead “stay in the ship” on a false hope that has no basis on scripture.
We must seek to be the Seventh-day Adventist remnant movement that will ultimately be the target of the Seventh-day Adventist corporate system because of our fidelity and obedience to God and his commandments, statutes and judgments. Remain faithful to the line of truth that sister White saw extending all the way to the second coming of Christ. This necessarily means that you must reconsider the triune God that you’ve been instructed to worship by this wayward modern organization and compare it to the one God, the Father, that the founders worshipped, together with his only truly begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Be prepared to accept new truth from Scripture and the Spirit of Prophecy as you prove that it in no wise removes even a pin from the foundation that was so firmly planted by Christ himself. Finally, we must separate from those that either knowingly, or blindly seek to undermine and destroy the foundation of our faith with their ecumenical meetings, Babylonian customs, and worldly-minded “worship” ideas.

Very interesting comments by everyone including Advent Messenger. Would we have been critical if the SDA’s had not accepted the invitation to be a part of the program?
Did anyone actually see the program before casting a shadow of sin on everyone who was a part? I tried to find it on ABC, but run into only the sports games! I have been an SDA Minister for nearly 55 years now. (I count college as part since I preached in varied churches all during my study years.) Through those years I have preached in just about all denominational churches at one time or another. In one place where I pastored a prominent Presbyterian church board asked me to take their services for three weeks while their pastor was on vacation. I not only shared the gospel but visited those who were ill and took calls to give counsel. Here in my home County I am retired, but still heavily involved as a leader in the community. There was a time when I spoke at the Community Thanksgiving Service three years in a row. One of those services was in the Catholic Church. The Priest hugged me and thanked me for a Bible-based sermon. I never refuse to speak when invited. I have spoken at the National Day of Prayer, Veteran’s Memorials, and at the Memorials for the 911 attacks. What commentary do people have who never heard me speak in all those services? I would love to have had the opportunity to be on National Television. Since I did not hear or see any of the mentioned TV service I can not speak about what was presented. I can say that music can win hearts when presented in a proper way. Perhaps Dr. Byrd spoke about Jesus and His love and stirred some souls to want to know more about the Truth.
Having said all this I say to all, be sure you are doing all that God has given you to do and never miss an opportunity to share Jesus. There may be times when we can speak without giving the Three Angels Message but hearts are stirred to want to know more. Sometimes we present marvelous messages and the people have no idea what we are talking about. Groundwork must be done so that when we present the deep messages that God has assigned us the people can understand and respond in a positive way. Yes, time is running out on all of us, but we must still present the Truth–all of it, in a positive and understandable way. Go forward, brothers and sisters. Do your work and do it in the way God intended.

I invite you to view the one minute promotional video produced by the Southwest Region Conference of SDA which brother Andy Roman included in the article. Much can be learned by seeing what the SDA leadership highlighted in that short clip.
What is the first thing to assault your senses? It’s a mesmerizing hip-hop beat, which is nothing short of a modernized version of voo-doo rhythms used put participants in their demonic services in a state of mind where demon possession may occur. What’s the second, or rather, concurrent thing that they present in their own promotional video? A christmas tree being decked with all the trimmings by a loving family. Is there anything in these first fifteen seconds that announces the conference’s intent to share a significant and meaningful message at this event? Was there even anything in the opening scenes to reveal that this is an SDA event with an SDA message? Nothing. Only the same thing that every worlding does upon the celebration of this un-holi-day. The mother assisting her child to trim the tree wears earrings – granted, for many in the SDA church today, this is nothing, but for those who have looked into where this movement came from, it isn’t insignificant that our conference now advertises the wearing of jewelry in it’s christmas program commercial. Where are we informed that our heavenly Father takes delight in watching his children cut a tree from the forest, then fastened it down in their living room and deck it with silver and gold (literally, these are the colors that are shown in the opening scenes of the video)?
Jeremiah 10:1-4 Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: (2) Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. (3) For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. (4) They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
Regardless of whether Jeremiah was speaking of a christmas tree or not, we, as an SDA culture, have indisputably learned the ways of the heathen and now proudly advertise it.
As the hip-hop beat continues to drop in the promotional video, we are taken to the proud announcement of the musical guests which will appear in this program. The two head-liners are both gospel singers. Neither are Adventist. Both are evangelicals. The Southwestern University orchestra and singers are also identified as participating in the program. I believe that makes it an ecumenical event by definition. Clearly, this is not what we were instructed to do. At approximately minute marker 0:40, you will see song leaders dancing to their musical selection. I believe that this is closer to mimicking the bedlam of noise that sister White forewarned would invade the churches just prior to the end, and not anything of virtuous intent.
I’m sorry Elder Cox, but I must disagree with your assessment of the situation regarding this program – regardless of whether or not it was aired. What you have recounted of your experience sound like evangelism to me. That’s not what we’re seeing here. The church is advertising loud and clear that it has already fully aligned itself with the mainstream methods, customs and topics of discussion, in this particular case relating to christmas – these traditions are not God’s, they are men’s traditions and therefore can correctly be attributed to Satan. I can’t help but think of Elijah on mount Carmel. He actually set up a program where the worshipers of Baal, or Satan, were invited. Did he participate with them by joining in a celebratory song with the School of the Prophets Barbershop quartet while the prophets of Baal danced around their alter? Of course not. Elijah did not participate in an ecumenical meeting because he only spoke on behalf of God and had no part or intermingling with the traditions of the pagans or their worship style. He never intimated that his intent was to participate with them, but rather from the very start he clearly stood apart from them.
I believe the time has come once again for Elijah to take a stand against this idolatry in the Israel of today. Who do you think should be on his invitation list from the prophets of Baal?
Jerry D. Lee III says
Praise the Lord! I agree Elder! We need to follow Christ’s example. He established relationship with people and shared truth based on the circumstances. Christ did not tell the disciples some things because it was not the right time for them. Read the gospels and you will see that. Let’s show people Jesus Christ and from that vantage point we can present other truths. Let’s not slander ministry that is reaching people!
