The following was released by the Adventist news source Baluarte on July 27, 2023.
This morning, a Raven R44 helicopter belonging to PAMAS, the Philippine Adventist Medical Aviation Services, went down in a field while en route to Mountain View Adventist University in the Philippines.
The helicopter was manned by two pilots and two passengers. Thank God, they all survived. None of them suffered major injuries. One of the passengers was taken to the hospital for treatment but was not in critical condition.
Jared Hoewing was piloting the PAMAS helicopter at an altitude of 900 meters when it began to lose power, forcing it to make an emergency landing in a banana field 5 kilometers from the base. The cause of the failure is not yet known with certainty.
PAMAS published on its social networks a “thank you” for the appreciation and prayers during the hours following the accident: “As we consider this incident, we want to praise God for His goodness in saving the lives of all on board. We trust that the Lord will continue to hold this ministry in His hands. As we have said before, we find ourselves in a great controversy. We adore God because He, our captain, is in charge of taking what was made with a bad purpose and transforming it for good. Thank you very much for remembering us in your prayers during these times; they are greatly appreciated.”
PAMAS was still recovering from the disappearance of Yellow Bee, a helicopter manned by two passengers, a volunteer missionary, and the pilot, which fell into the ocean in May and has not been found.
