“Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.” Matthew 15:14.
Pope Francis recently made a statement during a special mass he performed for Christians who were murdered for their faith. This ceremony was supposed to commemorate their lives. Instead, Pope Francis used this tragic event to push his ecumenical message. He called this killing a “testament” to the “peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians.”
The Catholic Register reported the following on December 10, 2018:
“The lives of 19 religious men and women martyred (by Muslims) during the Algerian civil war are a testament to God’s plan of love and peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims, Pope Francis said.” [1]
It is disturbing to know that a special mass meant to commemorate the senseless sacrifice of human lives was instead used to push the wishful, misguided, liberal thinking of “peaceful coexistence” with murderous thugs. These people were murdered for their faith, so no, this isn’t a testament to “peaceful coexistence.” They aren’t “testaments,” they are victims of a horrific murder. They were tortured and killed for not being Muslims and for refusing to convert to Islam.
The Pope needs to actually read the Quran, study history and actually look at the facts because Islam has never lived peacefully and equally with any other religion. And it never will. According to the Quran, Islam commands Muslims to spread the faith throughout the world, until, everyone is either converted or dead:
“And when the forbidden months have passed, kill the idolaters wherever you find them and take them prisoners, and beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they repent and observe Prayer and pay the Zakat, then leave their way free. Surely, Allah is Most Forgiving, Merciful.” (Quran, Surah 9:5). [2]
“Fight them, that Allah may punish them at your hands, and humiliate them, and help you to victory over them, and relieve the minds of a people who believe.” (Quran, Surah 9:14). [3]
“Fight those from among the People of the Book who believe not in Allah, nor in the Last Day, nor hold as unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have declared to be unlawful, nor follow the true religion, until they pay the tax with their own hand and acknowledge their subjection.” (Quran, Surah 9:29). [4]
“And the Jews say, Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say, the Messiah is the son of Allah; that is what they say with their mouths. They imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before them. Allah’s curse be on them! How are they turned away!” (Quran, Surah 9:30). [5]
“If you do not go forth to fight, He will punish you with a painful punishment, and will choose in your stead a people other than you, and you shall do Him no harm at all. And Allah has full power over all things.” (Quran, Surah 9:39). [6]
Christians are being beheaded for their faith and these acts, according to Pope Francis, will somehow help Christians and Muslims live in peace and harmony, happily ever after? Or does the pope mean that only after every true Christian is killed that a time of peace is coming to our earth.
So while Pope Francis was calling for dialog and harmony with Muslims and while he characterized these murders as a “great sign of brotherhood” [7] here in America President Trump signed a law to financially help Christians being killed in foreign countries and to actually bring the perpetrators of these terrible crimes to justice. [8]
This inaction on the part of Rome towards the murder of Christians is incomprehensible. Christians in China, India, Africa and the Middle East are being tortured and killed daily. We must pray; but we must also work in harmony with our prayers to end this violence.
