Pope Francis is on an interfaith mission as he continues his tour through Muslim countries. As part of the agenda for his March 30-31, 2019 Morocco visit, the pope plans to continue bridging the gap between Rome and Islam. The Vatican has just released a new logo to commemorate the pope’s upcoming visit to the Muslim nation. According to the Vatican, the cross and the crescent depicted above is suppose to represent the “interrelgious relations between Christians and Muslims.” [1]
For decades the Vatican has been trying to create a geopolitical, religious alliance with the different Muslim monarchs throughout the Middle East. The Second Vatican Council established a decree called “Nostra Aetate” (Our Age) in an effort to come into unity with all the non-Christian religions. [2]
Now the dream is finally coming to pass. The popes from the past ages could only dream of seeing Rome’s influence restored as the most prominent, world-wide super power. They are now formulating international policies to promote mutual understanding and unity with all nations and all faiths including Protestants, Jew, Orthodox and Muslims.
“And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.” Revelation 17:12, 13.
All the kings of the earth, both religious and political, are giving their support and power to the beast of Bible prophecy. King Mohammed VI and other state leaders from Morocco will be receiving Pope Francis when he arrives. Pope Francis will be meeting state and faith leaders to promote his message of peaceful coexistence through “interreligious dialogue and mutual understanding between the followers of both religions.” [3]
As Rome’s power and influence becomes global she will soon be in a position to implement any political or economic policy that will benefit her goals and ambitions. Rome will continue to assert herself as the chief negotiator and mediator in social and political affairs – above all other political and religious leader. This is exactly what prophecy predicts.
It is in the interest of every Seventh-day Adventist student of Bible prophecy to see and understand the times in which we are living. We too must also rise up and fulfill our prophetic work in reaching the world with the final warning messages found in Revelation 14:6-12. In this very time we are either preparing for the Latter Rain or preparing for the seven last plagues. We are either helping others to “Prepare to meet thy God” (Amos 4:12) or we expressing an attitude of indifference that says “My Lord delayeth His coming (Matt. 24:48).
“Are we to wait until the fulfillment of the prophecies of the end before we say anything concerning them? Of what value will our words be then? Shall we wait until God’s judgments fall upon the transgressor before we tell him how to avoid them? Where is our faith in the word of God? Must we see things foretold come to pass before we will believe what He has said? In clear, distinct rays light has come to us, showing us that the great day of the Lord is near at hand, “even at the doors.” Let us read and understand before it is too late” (Testimonies, Vol. 9, p. 20).
