Today, April 22, 2020 is the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day. Pope Francis is renewing his call to protect the earth. He, along with the United Nations is supporting an appeal for government leaders to pursue a “green recovery” during the coronavirus. And even though sin is defined in the Bible as the transgression of God’s law (1 John 3:4), Pope Francis is establishing a new ecology-focused morality with new sins against Mother Earth.
The Pope expressed that we have been mistreating the earth and “compared the response to environmental dangers with that of coronavirus.” The Pope said: “We have sinned against the Earth, against our neighbor and, in the end, against the Creator.” [1]
This is the new Amazon religion that is replacing biblical truth and morals. The great moral problems for the new Amazonian religion are not the 10 commandments, the second coming of Christ or the hour of God’s judgment (Revelation 14: 7); no, it’s about the ecosystem and our connection to it. While the Bible teaches a hierarchical order: that God is the Creator and He is above nature, the new Amazonian religion is pushing the errors of pantheism, which presents God as part of the ecosystem.
The biblical order that distinguishes God from nature is being removed. Sins against the earth are sins against God. To honor the earth is to honor God. The essence and substance of God is interconnected with nature. God is absorbed into nature and becomes identical with the cosmos. We are all one; God, humans and earth. That is why Pope Francis can say that sins against the earth are sins against God.
This is pure Eastern, pagan philosophy. Pope Francis’ Amazonian religion is turning his listeners and followers into pagans. The ancient pagans that God warned Israel about identified the presence of their gods and goddesses in all things: the sun, the moon, the stars, the fish, animals, and even other humans (Deuteronomy 4: 15-20). They applied the concept of God to the individual elements of nature. This is the new morality being presented in the Pope’s ecological message.
There is a reason why the Three Angels’ Message is earth’s final warning. There is a reason why the Three Angels’ Message was predicted thousands of years ago to be relevant and necessary for the end-times. In these solemn warnings there is a call to worship God, who is above heaven and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. God, the Creator, is only to be worshiped; and not the beasts, nor the idols, nor nature, nor spiritualism, nor the works of the hands of men, nor the mistaken philosophies of fallen human beings.
“The Protestants of the United States will be foremost in stretching their hands across the gulf to grasp the hand of Spiritualism; they will reach over the abyss to clasp hands with the Roman power; and under the influence of this threefold union, this country will follow in the steps of Rome in trampling on the rights of conscience” (Great Controversy, p. 588).
This three-fold union is being established at this very moment while our liberties and freedoms are trampled underfoot before our eyes. The evidence is so obvious and it shows that God knows the future. The only mystery is why are God’s people not proclaiming the message for this time with great power and conviction? The Pope has a prophetic role to fulfill; we also have ours.
“In a special sense Seventh-day Adventists have been set in the world as watchmen and light bearers. To them has been entrusted the last warning for a perishing world. On them is shining wonderful light from the word of God. They have been given a work of the most solemn import—the proclamation of the first, second, and third angels’ messages. There is no other work of so great importance. They are to allow nothing else to absorb their attention” (Testimonies, Vol. 9, p. 19).
