On February 23, 2023, the Annual Collegiate Day of Prayer was held at Asbury University due to the international attention that their school has received over the past two weeks. The Collegiate Day of Prayer program, which dates back to 1823, is a movement that seeks to promote spiritual faith among college and university students. This year, the participants focused on the Asbury Revival, a religious movement that has achieved world-wide recognition and the public endorsement of prominent evangelical pastors and Christian organizations, as well as Roman Catholics, including Timothy Dolan, the Roman Catholic Cardinal from New York.
Thursday night, during the prayer and worship service at Asbury University, a lot of very significant points were brought out. First of all, all celebrity preachers were canceled. Rick Warren was scheduled to speak at this event. His appearance was announced by the official Collegiate Day of Prayer organizers below:
However, Asbury University decided to cancel all “celebrity” pastors because they wanted the revival to remain “nameless and titleless” so that God’s Holy Spirit would receive all the glory and not be co-opted by anyone. Even the charismatic and evangelical pastor Kenneth Copeland seems to have been turned down for the Asbury Revival. [1]
Asbury University President Dr. Kevin Brown made the announcement that there would be no “celebrities” at the Asbury Revival. You can see his statement in the video above. Dr. Brown expressed the following remarks at the start of the 2023 Collegiate Day of Prayer:
“Colleges and universities representing over 200 schools with students flocking in from all over the country have joined with us over the last couple of weeks. And other guests have come from every region of the United States and even from pockets of the world. And I just want to say: This was not planned. This was not a function of an innovative, state-of-the art facility. It was not a function of a slick marketing scheme. There was no program planning committee. And it’s not because of celebrities or professional musicians. This has been a nameless, titleless movement, and tonight will be no different” (YouTube video).
It appears that the Asbury University administration wanted to exclude the prosperity preachers and snake-oil salesmen from their revival. They desired that the Holy Spirit’s outpouring be highlighted, not some celebrity preacher. They wanted the world to recognize that what has been taking place in Asbury is a genuine revival and a legitimate move of God.
Unfortunately, there is some disturbing footage in the video as well. You’ll witness a wide range of the hypnotic, trance-inducing chanting known as “mantra” in eastern religions. By meditating on certain words or phrases related to faith or God, people’s emotions can be manipulated and controlled. These methods are frequently used in contemporary Christian worship services to deepen the people’s spiritual connection to God. They believe that by making vain repetitions, God will somehow hear them and grant their requests by sending down His Holy Spirit.
In the same video, you can see a young girl chanting “Consume us holy” repeatedly while the music is playing. Then, as another man began to shout, she started to yell “market generation.” The two of them then began to shout over one another. The woman continues to yell, “Holy, holy, holy,” as the man repeatedly yells, “Mark them,” “Send the fire of the Holy Spirit,” and “Fill us tonight.” It was horrifying and incredibly confusing.
Also in the video, a young man in a purple shirt appears to go into a trance-like state of ecstasy, and a girl wearing a white shirt looks to be speaking in tongues next to one of the speakers. Unfortunately, the popular preachers in our nation are endorsing these kinds of physical exhibitions.

Even though Rick Warren did not speak at this event, he strongly supports and promotes the Asbury Revival.
Franklin Graham is a prominent Evangelical Christian and the president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. He is the son of Billy Graham, who was a famous Christian evangelist.
Roman Catholic Cardinal Timothy Dolan is the Archbishop of New York and represents the Pope, acting as a liaison between the people and the Vatican. In the above interview, Cardinal Dolan expressed that the Asbury Revival may “spark some type of religious revival in the country that everybody kind of admits we need.”
The 700 Club supports the Asbury Revival as well. The 700 Club was founded by Pat Robertson, an American Christian Evangelical, media mogul, and the man behind the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN).
Tony Perkins, a Southern Baptist, is the president of the Family Research Council, an evangelical conservative policy and lobbying organization based in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Robert Jeffress is the prominent Southern Baptist pastor of a megachurch in Dallas, Texas. He is also an author and appears in radio and television programs.
Greg Laurie is the founder of Harvest Crusades, an evangelistic outreach initiative, as well as the evangelical pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship, a megachurch in Riverside, California.
Deeply moved to see the revival taking place at @AsburyUniv! The Lord is at work at Asbury and Lives will be Changed Forever. To the young and old #AsburyRevival, God Bless You All & Praise the Lord! 🙌 https://t.co/M5OOeVESCA

Mike Pence served as the 48th Vice President of the United States. He was also the governor of Indiana. Born a Roman Catholic, Mike Pence became a conservative evangelical and met with Pope Francis in Rome.
Mike Huckabee is a Baptist pastor who became the Governor of Arkansas and ran for the Republican nomination for President of the United States in 2008 and 2016.
In the video above, Rod Parsley, a charismatic evangelical pastor, praises the Asbury Revival. He is also an avid promoter of tongues speaking and the Pentecostal phenomenon in which a person falls down on the floor and begins to act erratically during worship (see video below). This is attributed to the working of the Holy Spirit.
A true biblical revival must be followed by a thorough reformation. When Israel experienced a revival and reformation under King Josiah, the law of God was read and applied (2 Kings 23), and all the idolatry and pagan practices were removed from the nation. Any true revival today will be swiftly followed by the removal of every man-made tradition and blasphemous doctrine. This is not the case in the Asbury Revival. Catholics and evangelicals are coming together to receive the so-called Holy Spirit, but this counterfeit spirit is not leading them to the truth or obedience to God’s commandments.
“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth.” John 16:13.
“The Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.” John 16:7, 8.
“And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.” Acts 5:32.
The Asbury Revival is not going anywhere. It is only spreading even as we speak. More revivals are being planned and organized all over the world.
In Oklahoma City alone, plans are being made to bring about the greatest revival that has ever been witnessed in any school and at any time in the history of the world. May God help us and grant us the wisdom to understand His truth and to know the difference between genuine and counterfeit revivals because we are entering a time when the overwhelming deceptions of the last days, which Jesus warned us about in Matthew 24:4, 5, 11, and 23, are breaking out in our world today.
“It is not a conclusive evidence that a man is a Christian because he manifests spiritual ecstasy under extraordinary circumstances. Holiness is not rapture: it is an entire surrender of the will to God; it is living by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God; it is doing the will of our heavenly Father; it is trusting God in trial, in darkness as well as in the light; it is walking by faith and not by sight; it is relying on God with unquestioning confidence, and resting in His love” (Acts of the Apostles, p. 51).
“Where did you lose it, Brother R? Where did you lose it? I can’t tell. You slept through the night and God guarded you all night. Then what is the matter this morning? Well, he did not know. I will tell you. You have not educated yourself to believe in God whatever feelings you have. Feeling is not your God, and it is no use for you to offer sacrifice on the altar of feeling, for feeling and faith are just as distinct from each other as heaven and earth, as the east is from the west.” (Manusctipt Release, Vol. 10, p. 309).

This is pure demonic. I believe many pastors know this but won’t say anything.
David says
GC 464 (pg. 309) The enemy of souls declares to hinder this work, and before the time for such a movement shall come, he won Denver to prevent it by introducing a counterfeit…… There is an emotional excitement, a mingling of the true with the false that is well adapted to miss lead.
…..Before the final visitation of God’s judgment, upon the Earth, there will be among the people of the Lord such a revival of primitive godliness, as has not been witnessed since apostolic times. The spirit and the power of God will be poured out upon his children. At that time, many will separate themselves from the churches, in which the love of this world has supplanted love for God and his word.
Brother Lance says
False revival to a false god and fake Jesus, that teaches the commandments of men the doctrines of demons.
There is no revival without repentance, there is no repentance without obedience, no obedience without all ten of the commandments plus as Jesus told us to love each other so 11.
Much like Eve with the ecstasy of emotion and blended thought, they seek more from God not realising revival is about giving more, giving all to God.
Its not about what God can do for you, but what you are going to do for God. Truly becoming a living sacrifice for God.
