Sydney Adventist Women, an official ministry sponsored by the Women’s Ministry Department of the Greater Sydney Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, hosted a “Renewed in Christ” event on Sabbath November 4, 2023. [1] Children, teenagers, female pastors, and women from all over New South Wales, Australia, were present at the event. The “Renewed in Christ” attendees were treated to a variety of performances on Sabbath during the closing ceremony. These included hip gyrations, provocative dancing, and even dancing to the song “Jerusalema,” which is performed by South African DJ Master KG.

Why do church administrators, leaders, theologians, scholars, and those in authority tolerate, accommodate, and support these blatant modifications to our Sabbath experience during worship? Why has the darkness of hell replaced the holiness and sanctity of worship? And why are the women cheering young ladies showing off their sensual dancing skills at a “Renewed in Christ” event as if they were in a bar or some worldly dance completion show?
Are the counsels of Ellen G. White on music and dancing still authoritative? [2] If so, when will the General Conference, the South Pacific Division, or the Australian Union Conference step in and stop this egregious blasphemy and apostasy? Church leaders cannot just keep talking about unity and mission while allowing deadly heresy to breed confusion and division. We cannot exalt the principles of God’s kingdom while the errors of the kingdom of darkness are openly celebrated in the church today.
Back in the 1950s, we used to live in a conservative cultural climate where sexually provocative dancing was not permitted in public. Elvis Presley, a highly influential American singer whose hip movements were just as famous as his singing, was threatened with arrest for his gyrating dance moves and sexually suggestive gestures. [3] Because of this, he was only filmed from the waist up in many of his television appearances to hide his lower body movements. The authorities were worried about the inappropriate and controversial dancing, and they took action to preserve the cultural norms of society.
How much our world and church have changed since then! Today, those in authority in Adventism do nothing as the same provocative body movements, hip swaying, and worldly dancing have made their way into the church.
This dance show, which was supported by the Greater Sydney Conference, was a violation of the Sabbath and a clear attempt to corrupt the church’s youth. These displays must be censured rather than applauded and celebrated. Sin is being welcomed. The world is also welcomed, all under the pretext of being renewed in Christ. No, this dirty dancing is not renewing anyone in Christ. What is being renewed are the worship groves that ancient Israel established for the worship of Baal. Many in the church today are dancing to the worship of Baal in the groves.
“He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” 1 John 2:6.
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15.

This is so wrong. May we all pray who read this article that our church will come together to be renewed in Christ, truly.

These children, including the women pastors, need to step aside and let the adults take over.

{“A Bedlam of Noise not the Holy Spirit at Work
The things you have described as taking place in Indiana, the Lord has shown me would take place just before the close of probation.
Every uncouth thing will be
demonstrated. There will be shouting, with drums, music, and dancing.
The senses of rational beings will become so confused that they cannot be trusted to make right decisions. And this is called the moving of the Holy Spirit.5MR 107.3
The Holy Spirit never reveals itself in such methods, in such a bedlam of noise.
This is an invention of Satan to cover up his ingenious methods for making of none effect the pure, sincere, elevating, ennobling, sanctifying truth for this time….
A bedlam of noise shocks the senses and perverts that which if conducted aright might be a blessing. The powers of satanic agencies blend with the din and noise to have a carnival, and this is termed the Holy Spirit’s working….5MR 107.4
Those participating in the supposed revival receive impressions which lead them adrift.
They cannot tell what they formerly knew regarding Bible principles.5MR 108.1
No encouragement should be given to this kind of worship.”}

They are dancing to secular music written by worldly artists. This does not sanctify the service. It’s still an abomination.
Ruthie says
Is this “culture” or perversion in general. Bare arms, ripped jeans – in biblical terms that young lady is considered to be naked. Anything goes nowadays. Even if SDA GCC leaders/pastors came to their senses & admonished participants in such events, they know they risk losing members & a backlash over people’s “rights”. And do young folks even know who Ellen White is?
Glenn says
Unless there is a decided fight and effort individually. Ellen White, had a dream of an iceberg ahead, we are to meet it directly- Head on. I would rather burn the house down with a faulty foundation, we can only stand on the Rock of Jesus Christ, or go with the mark of the beast. We must surrender to Christ in order to stand.

KJV Psalms 119:126
126 It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law.
KJV Daniel 9:3-13
3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
4 And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;
5 We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:
6 Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
7 O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee.
8 O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.
9 To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;
10 Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
11 Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him.
12 And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
13 As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth.

Ichabod! The glory of the Lord has departed from the SDA church as an organization … Rather, He works with and through individuals who hold to the old paths of truth.

A poorly written article. It is sad and dangerous that a person can report on something they were not at and have not sought clarification from those leaders in charge of the conference.
1. The sabbath day had already been closed
2. It was cultural night and the dances were done by people from that culture
I’m certain there will be praising and dancing in Heaven.
In future before publishing such an article do you due diligence and seek the truth instead of spreading lies. Your poor judgement can cause people to turn from Jesus

I whole heartedly agree with this comment.
Eric Doering says
Questions:
1. What does the Sabbath have to do with the actions of these SDA women? This is purposefully sensual and provocative behavior and directs the mind to low, earthly thoughts. If I’m correctly understanding the comment above, it seems as though it is being implied that this dancing and music is wrong (meaning sin) during the Sabbath hours, but as soon as the sun drops over the horizon, the audience cheers because now it suddenly becomes neutral or otherwise sanctified such that “God’s people” may participate…? This is illogical, unreasonable, and completely unsustainable from God’s inspired word.
2. Does anyone honestly believe that this sort of thing will be present in heaven, regardless of whether it is after the close of the Sabbath or in the middle of the week? If so, your concept of the holy, sanctified nature of God, his righteous character, and the pureness of his abode has been distorted beyond recognition. The joy that we will express in the company of angels as we behold the unsurpassed glory of holiness is only described as singing with all our might so that heaven’s arches ring, and bowing down before the majesty of creation as an expression of worship that is brought forth by love. I’ve never seen it written that our mothers, sisters, and wives will do a seductive dance for King Jesus. It turns the stomach to even consider such an abomination.
3. Which cultures of this world, exactly, are the ones that present a sanctified expression of reverence for the one true God of heaven and earth? There isn’t even a single “cultural” tradition that is rooted in the desire to worship God in the beauty of holiness. All cultures are steeped in paganism. God calls his people to come out of this condition and to worship him in spirit and in truth. Why do so many SDA’s try to vindicate the emulation of the world, bringing in “traditions” that are rooted in worldliness, rather than repudiate these things? The answer is because they love the world and desire to be connected to it (in bondage to it) rather than being truth loving citizens of God’s kingdom. The concept of participating in “cultural traditions” is a flimsy attempt to justify acts that are unquestionably wrong in God’s eyes.
Penney Claiborne says
Amen brother Eric. Perfectly said.
Linda says
It is disheartening to see so many in the SDA faith embracing cultural diversity as a justification to engage in behaviours that we have been given guidance and instruction concerning. The angel of Revelation 18 is clear: “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins.” Babylon wears many disguises.
Billy Blue Layman says
If a church leads its members astray from God, then the Holy Ghost is not in that church your just going for the show. Who was the greatest showman and deceiver in the Bible. Just because you cannot see the Evil fallen does not mean they are not there watching learning how to temp or destroy/keep us from God. Something to think about.

Women pastors/ preachers (including EGW’s “ministry”) is a straight up abomination of the Lord according to 1 Timothy 3.
