Captain David Dorn was a 38 year police veteran and leader in the community. The local news reported that he was “very dedicated” to the “youth, especially disadvantaged youth.” Captain David Dorn wanted the youth “to do the right thing all the time.” He was “bigger than life” and a “fun” and “happy guy,” the news reported. Officers looked up to him because he was “very well-liked” and “very pleasant.” [1]
This selfless, dedicated, retired police captain and leader of the community was shot dead by so-called protesters who were demonstrating (looting) against black police brutality. Think about this. David Dorn, a black respected leader, was murdered in cold blood by looters protesting against the violence of black people. This is beyond belief, but the story gets even worse. Not only did Captain David Dorn die alone while lying on the street from a gunshot wound, but he died a victim of violence on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, a street named after the great nonviolent civil rights leader – Martin Luther King.
Captain David Dorn died in front of Lee’s Pawn & Jewelry located at 4123 Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, St. Louis, MO 63113. It wasn’t even his store. And why was Captain Dorn killed? He was killed over a television. In the video above you will see that he was killed because looters were stealing TVs.
The looters and criminals who gunned down a beloved and honorable 77-year-old retired St. Louis Police Captain are no better than Derek Chauvin, the former disgraced police officer who asphyxiated Gorge Floyd to death when he pressed his knee to Floyd’s neck for almost nine minutes while being handcuffed face down on the ground.
A good man lay dying on the street and the “protesters” who are supposed to be advocating for the lives of black people, barely offered any help. Most just acted as if nothing happened. You don’t hear anybody calling 911 for Captain David Dorn. How could they? They were too busy smashing buildings and stealing property. How could they call 911 when they themselves were creating mayhem in the streets? So Captain Dorn died slowly and all alone.
These rioters, looters and arsonists are no better than the “racists” they criticize. These “protesters” have lost all credibility! How do George Floyd supporters and demonstrators justify the unjustifiable shooting and murder of Captain David Dorn? They have lost the message they are trying to get across with all this anarchy and violence. It makes them just as bad as the homicidal, disgraced police officer, Derik Chauvin.
Does David Dorn’s life matter? Did his life matter to anyone? Well, Captain David Dorn mattered enough for the “protesters” to live-stream the final moments of his life on social media, but that’s about it because they were preoccupied. On the same night that Captain David Dorn was murdered in cold blood over a TV, four other officers were shot. Other officers were pelted with rocks and 55 businesses were burglarized, damaged or burned. [1]
There is nothing heroic about what these criminals are doing. You cannot justify or romanticize these “protesters.” Captain Dorn is a true hero, and at age 77 he deserved many more years of retirement. But he gave his life to “protect and serve.” And like a true officer, he performed his last police detail as a volunteer – without fear and with dignity and honor. Let us see if Captain David Dorn’s tragic death will also generate a national outcry. Will there also be marches, calls for justice and 24-hour media coverage against these cowardly looters who murdered him?
A black “protester” killing a black cop over a TV is just as ruthless as a white cop senselessly killing a black citizen. They are both equally tragic because God is no “respecter of persons” (Acts 10:34). Unfortunately, the media doesn’t cover all stories equally. Not all tragedies generate the same public outcry and media attention as others. That is the nature of the highly politicized and overly sensationalized main stream media.
The civil unrest that we are seeing is just the tip of the iceberg. We are entering into an unprecedented period of lawlessness that has been predicted in Bible prophecy. We will look at this in Part II.
