Sunday is the traditional day of rest in Rome. To help establish this idea and raise awareness of this day, Rome is promoting a “Free Sunday for everyone event,” which it is offering to its 15 million tourists who visit Rome and Vatican City each year. [1] Once again, the ruling powers want you to know that when in Rome, we must do as the Romans do, meaning that Sunday is the official day of rest and relaxation. And by offering free stuff on Sundays, this is just one more way to further distinguish this day as uniquely special.
The website Rome Wise, which is dedicated to all things in Rome, published the following information about the Free Sunday for everyone event:
• “Rome Free Sunday – How to visit the top sites for free!” [2]
• “What’s the Rome Free Sunday about? Which sites and monuments are free in Rome, when and how can you visit them, and do you need to book in advance?” [2]
• “Rome Free Sunday – when Rome museums and sites are free for everyone.” [2]
• “The Rome Free Sunday is a fantastic initiative to allow everyone to visit sites and monuments for free on the first Sunday of the month.” [2]
• “All year long, Italian state sites and monuments are free for everyone on the first Sunday of every month.” [2]
• “This is true across Italy and includes other well-known sites like the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, and Pompeii.” [2]
• “The Vatican Museums, which are usually closed on Sundays, are open and free the last Sunday of every month, with shorter opening hours.” [2]
• “Whether you book a tour or not, and no matter what time of day you come on the Free Sunday at the Vatican Museums, you can expect huge crowds, no matter what time of year.” [2]
• “And I really recommend this if you want to visit the Vatican for free on their Free Sunday!” [2]
The message to the millions of tourists that visit Rome is that Sunday holds a significant place in society. It is unlike any other day. Rome is undoubtedly doing everything within its power to accomplish its one and only objective, which is to establish Sunday as a day for family time, rest, and church attendance. All of the state-run museums, as well as the Vatican Museum, are providing free services on Sunday to cater to the idea that the first day of the week is what gives us all a sense of community and togetherness. With all these efforts, including others, Rome is making every effort to exalt this false day of rest. They are certainly not holding back in any way.
According to inspiration, Satan is the driving force behind all initiatives aimed at elevating the false day of worship in the public’s eyes:
“I have been shown that from the first rebellion Satan was working to this end, to exalt his own power in contradiction to God’s law and God’s power. He does this in exalting Sunday observance, and anything that shall by this people go forth, as their voice, to respect the idol Sabbath, would it not dishonor God and confuse minds and place them where they will be deceived by Satan’s devices? Anything we may do that lifts up the spurious to take the place of the true and genuine Sabbath is disloyal to God, and we must move very carefully lest we exalt the decisions of the man of sin. We are not to be found in a neutral position on this matter of so great consequence. The commandments of God and the faith of Jesus must be from conviction of duty inscribed on our banners.” (Manuscript 6, 1889).

We know that Protestants will lead the way here in America to push for Sunday laws, but it appears to me that they will merely be following Rome’s example.
