The Kremlin announced that Russia is ready to talk with Pope Francis and the United States to find a solution to the situation created by the war in Ukraine. Aleteia News reported on October 27, 2022, that the Kremlin is willing to open diplomatic channels with Pope Francis and the United States to promote peace in the region. The press secretary for the Russian Presidency, Dmitri Peskov, stated the following:
“We are ready to discuss all this, on the situation in Ukraine, with the Americans, with the French and with the pontiff,” spokesman Peskov said in reaction to the words of French President Emmanuel Macron, who on Monday asked Pope Francis to call on Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as the Patriarch of the Orthodox Church, Kirill, and US President Joe Biden to promote a peace process in Ukraine.” [1]
According to Aleteia News, the Vatican expressed that it would not miss this chance to mediate international disputes and would certainly “take advantage of it.” Aleteia went on to say:
“From the Vatican, the diplomatic response is one of openness, but from prudence. The Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin, has confirmed to the Italian press: ‘We do not know what these words mean, what basis they have and what development they may have. But if there is a small gap, we will certainly take advantage of it’.” [1]
Of course they will. To take advantage means to seek “vantage ground.” Inspiration tells us that that is exactly what Rome is seeking:
“She (Rome) is silently growing into power. Her doctrines are exerting their influence in legislative halls, in the churches, and in the hearts of men. She is piling up her lofty and massive structures, in the secret recesses of which her former persecutions will be repeated. Stealthily and unsuspectedly she is strengthening her forces to further her own ends when the time shall come for her to strike. All that she desires is vantage-ground, and this is already being given her. We shall soon see and shall feel what the purpose of the Roman element is. Whoever shall believe and obey the Word of God will thereby incur reproach and persecution” (Great Controversy, p. 581).
Perhaps you dismiss any suggestion that the Vatican will rule the world as a simple conspiracy theory. Some claim that because we now enjoy civil and religious freedoms, papal supremacy is a thing of the past and we shouldn’t worry about it. As a result, a lot of people think it’s okay for them to support the Pope’s ecumenical, economic, and environmental policies. Whether people want to believe it or not, Revelation 13 describes a cunning power known as the first beast that will have a significant influence over international affairs:
“And power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.” Revelation 13:7.
Do not believe that the developments occurring in the world today are unrelated to Bible prophecy. According to the book of Revelation, Rome will accomplish even more than what we are seeing. She has only just begun. The world’s political and religious leaders will submit to Rome’s authority. They are already doing it. In fact, God warns us that the whole world is being prepared to worship the first beast:
“And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.” Revelation 13:12.
Tragically, some of our people don’t think that the deadly wound is actually healing, so they don’t feel any need to warn others about this beast power. However, we are told that one of the great signs that we are now living in the final period of this earth’s history is the fact that Rome is universally acknowledged as the principal mediator of political, economic, environmental, and religious affairs.
This is the scenario that is unfolding, and in this context, a worldwide message from God will be heard saying: “If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of His indignation.” Revelation 14:9.
