HopeMedia Italy is the official communication agency for the Italian Union of Seventh-day Adventist Churches. According to an article published on September 14, 2022 by HopeMedia Italy titled “Season of Creation in Cesena,” Roman Catholics, Romanian Greek-Catholics, Ukrainian Greek-Catholics, Romanian Orthodox, and Seventh-day Adventists celebrated a “ecumenical event” on the theme “Listen to the Voice of Creation.” This celebration was held in response to the global call by Pope Francis, the Laudato Si’ Movement, Seasons of Creation, the World Council of Churches, and other faith-based environmental groups to unite and address the climate crisis.

HopeMedia Italy stated the following in their article:
“As part of the initiatives for Christian unity announced in the month of the ‘Season of Creation,’ on Saturday 17 September, from 5.45 pm, a meeting of prayer and ecumenical socialization will take place. The event is organized by some churches in the Cesena area: Adventist, Romanian Greek-Catholic, Ukrainian Greek-Catholic, Romanian Orthodox and Catholic.” [1]
“The Season of Creation is the annual Christian celebration to listen and respond together to ecological questions. The ecumenical family in the world unites to pray and protect our common home, the oikos of God. The members of the Christian family are offered the opportunity of a meeting for interreligious and interdisciplinary dialogue and practice to which all are invited.” [1]
“This year’s theme is ‘Hear the Voice of Creation,’ because during the Covid-19 pandemic, many became familiar with being silenced in conversations. Many voices are also silenced in the public discourse on climate change and the ethics of earth conservation. They are the voices of those suffering the impacts of climate change, of people who hold generational wisdom about how to live gratefully within the limits of the earth, and finally those of a dwindling diversity of animal species. It is the voice of the earth.” [1]
What does the term “oikos” mean for faith-based climate change activists in the context of God and creation?
“Oikos is the root of the word oikumene, or ecumenical, which describes our ‘common home’, as Pope Francis calls it in Laudato Si’. Season of Creation begins with the World Day of Prayer for Creation and that is where Climate Action month starts.” [2]
This is precisely what the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Italy is advancing. It wasn’t just one member in Cesena or HopeMedia Italy. Take a look at this post from the official Seventh-day Adventist Church in Italy:
https://www.facebook.com/avventista/posts/pfbid02io3na9CEeVrtbfLJ7XuMiiccvsxxeRKt4m2apn8DJG6qD4G4Jva95YehS8LCF5Cql
The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Italy proudly promotes this event on their official social media page, as seen in the Facebook post above. The ecumenical service was held at Saint Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church in Cesena, Italy, according to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese, which also reported on the event. [3] At the end of the article, HopeMedia Italy provided a link for those who wanted more information or resources about this international event. They directed visitors to the Season of Creation website. The Season of Creation organization issued an official guidebook for this ecumenical celebration. [4] Notice what the official Guide for the 2022 Seasons for Creation actually says.
Page 5: “The Season of Creation is the annual Christian celebration to listen and respond together to the cry of Creation: the ecumenical family around the world unites to pray and protect our common home. The Season “Celebration” begins on 1 September, the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, and ends on 4 October, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology beloved by many Christian denominations.”
This entire event revolves around St. Francis of Assisi and uniting the global ecumenical family. St. Francis of Assisi has become the “patron saint of ecology, beloved by many” Christians. Is St. Francis of Assisi also the patron saint of certain Seventh-day Adventists?
Page 10: “In this Season of Creation, we pray that you would call to us, as from the burning bush, with the sustaining fire of your Spirit. Breathe upon us. Open our ears and move our hearts. Turn us from our inward gaze. Teach us to contemplate your creation, and listen for the voice of each creature declaring your glory. For “faith comes from hearing.”
They are not referring to the biblical faith that comes from hearing God’s word. They are discussing receiving a counterfeit spirit through the exercise of a counterfeit faith that listens to the cry of the earth.
Page 15: “Ecumenical Prayer Service for the Season of Creation – As you plan your service, consider featuring a Burning Bush in the midst of the prayer service as a symbol of the community’s intention to remove our sandals as we recognize the Earth as holy ground, and listen for the voice of God, and the voice of creation praising God. You may also wish to set the space with natural items that ensure our worship includes the voice of the land and creatures who share our common home.”
This is worshiping the earth as “holy” and includes praise of the “land and creatures.” This is pure pantheism and pagan idolatry.
Page 15: Integrate creation related themes and the Burning Bush into Sunday liturgies – Consider how creation themes can also be incorporated into other aspects of the service, such as the procession, offertory, Eucharistic prayers, children’s messages and more.
Laudato Si’ #237, Pope Francis’ climate encyclical, also advocates for a Eucharistic Sunday. The word “eucharist” appears 10 times in section #237, with Sunday appearing three times. There’s no doubt about what’s being promoted here.
Page 16: “Hold your worship service outside To celebrate God’s creation fully, it is good, where practical, to take our worship outside a building and to worship in the context of God’s creation–which is already worshipping God eloquently as every creature, and even mountains, rivers and trees worship the Lord simply by doing what God created them to do.”
The global 2022 Season of Creation Ecumenical Celebration encourages worshippers to celebrate their service outside in nature because the mountains, rivers, and trees are already worshipping God. This is an attempt to merge the worship of Mother Earth with the worship of our Creator. How can we sanction such apostasy?
Page 16: “For your offering, ask children and adults to gather symbols from nature and take them to the holy table. These symbols can represent the ‘fruit of the earth and work of human hands’ alongside the bread and wine, and serve as a reminder of the voices of all creation that joins in the feast. Include a moment of silence to listen to, and wordlessly join in with the song of creation’s worship. Or, play birdsong or whale song, in the place of singing as you come to the table.”
This is what the Canaanites did. This was part of the worship of Baal. This is not how we worship Jehovah.
Page 17: Organize a Creation Walk or Pilgrimage Organize a contemplative walk outside to meditate on the gift of God’s creation and our response to be in deeper communion with all life. Organize a pilgrimage to a significant ecological site or a site that witnesses ecological or social injustice. Invite a group to study ecologically themed Scriptures, or pray with ecologically themed prayers such those that can be found in the Laudato Si’ Movement prayer book, while walking.
Are we now going to replace the Bible with the pantheistic Laudato Si’ prayer book?
Page 18: “Encourage sustainable living.”
We are doing this already.
Page 19: “Hold a Sustainability Event.”
This is something we are also doing.
Page 20: “Advocacy: Participate in campaigns that call for ecological restoration.”
We are on board with this.
Page 21: “COP27: Climate change Important policies are decided at the United Nations’ annual climate change conference. Here the world comes together to make binding promises on how to lessen climate change … COP27 takes place in Egypt November 7 to 18. In the lead up to COP27.”
Not only were Adventists present at COP26, but it seems that we are also looking forward to the next United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27).
Page 25: “Global calendar of events: St. Francis Day – Many traditions view St. Francis as an inspiration and guide for those who protect creation. October 4 is his feast day and the last day in the Season of Creation. The faithful around the world will come together in an online prayer service to reflect on how St. Francis has informed their spiritual journey and to celebrate our month-long journey together.”
Instead of evangelizing the world with the Three Angels’ Messages, we are the ones being led to adopt the teachings of St. Francis of Assisi.
Page 26: “As an ecumenical network, we are inspired by the urgent call from Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’, ‘for a new dialogue on how we are shaping the future of our planet’ and ‘We require a new and universal solidarity’ where the most vulnerable are supported and to enable them to in dignity. We invite you to join us in these efforts.”
Who and what is the inspiration for this ecumenical network of climate activists? Pope Francis and his encyclical, Laudato Si’.
Page 32: “Mothering Earth, our Sister, you sustain and govern us. We have silenced the voices of your people, especially the voices of women – protectors of the Earth who have been killed by land grabbers, mining companies and oil companies. Many are the voices of our sisters who have been silenced by flooding, hurricanes and drought as the earth’s warming brings destruction. May we listen to the voices of our mothers and sisters and learn to treasure and protect the web of life. Lord in your mercy Hear our prayer.”
Here we see in a prayer the earth being called upon. Here we see a prayer not just being addressed to God but to “Mother Earth, our Sister.” And in this prayer, we are told to hear our mother and sister. This is praying and venerating something other than God as if it were God. God’s law prohibits this. The First Commandment says, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me” (Exodus 20:3).
page 25: Creation Day, also called the World Day of Prayer for Creation, opens the season each year. Pope Francis, Patriarch Bartholomew, the World Council of Churches, and many other leaders have called the faithful to celebrate it.
Whose call are we heeding? Whom are we obeying? Jesus or Pope Francis? “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey?” Romans 6:16.
Page 23: “Visit the Laudato Si’ website for resources and events.”
This is what the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Italy is engaging in, endorsing, and promoting. It is incomprehensible that Seventh-day Adventists can turn their backs on God’s message, the Three Angels’ Messages, and dedicate their lives to promoting the climate change message of Laudato Si’, the Pope’s green Sunday law. Why can’t our church publications and the leaders who run our media see this obvious conflict of interest? You cannot mix the faith of the remnant people with the wine of Babylon. Rather than promoting the heresies of Laudato Si’, we must warn people to flee from the wrath that will fall on those who receive the mark of the beast.

The Laudato Si’ Movement offers a free Gospel Sunday Kit for the Season of Creation 2022. This new mission to promote Laudato Si’ to save the planet is part of the Omega of Apostasy. It incudes ecumenism, Spiritualism and Sunday sacredness. The core messages of Revelation 14:6-12 are being replaced by the new climate change agenda. We are now fully committed to saving the environment and educating others about sustainable development. Where did we get this new assignment from? Inspiration? The Bible or the Spirit of Prophecy? The only two sources of inspiration for us today are completely silent on this subject. It is Rome that has decreed this new work for us. In fact, instead of joining this movement, God says to come out from among them.

These new climate churches have been stripped of their redemptive work. They no longer have preachers, but climate alarmists who create panic and fear. This new artificial religion on climate cannot help sinners in need of salvation. They no longer even serve the Creator of the universe; now they serve and honor the plants.
With no redemption for sinners and no hope for the lost, the religion of climate change offers no solutions for our greatest need – sin. It only preaches depression, anxiety, and the fact that we are at the beginning of a mass extinction, unless we act now. And it is tragic that Seventh-day Adventists, who are supposed to understand the First Angel’s Message on creation and on the Sabbath, are buying into a climate religion that is void of any kind of salvation.
Why would we accept Rome’s belief system that puts our complete trust in humans rather than in the God who created us? The climate religion is the new Mother Earth idolatry of this age. God’s word gives us the following admonition:
“Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.” 1 Corinthians 10:14.
“Thousands deify nature while they deny the God of nature. Though in a different form, idolatry exists in the Christian world today as verily as it existed among ancient Israel in the days of Elijah. The God of many professedly wise men, of philosophers, poets, politicians, journalists—the God of polished fashionable circles, of many colleges and universities, even of some theological institutions—is little better than Baal, the sun-god of Phoenicia” (Great Controversy, p. 583).

This is what happens when you let political correctness in. You might not think it’s a big thing at first, but consider how far we’ve come since then.

My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God….Hosea 4:15 Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Bethaven, nor swear, The LORD liveth.

Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the Lord: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the Lord.

Does anyone really believe that this is about being good stewards of God’s creation? Or is it possible that we have been deceived and tricked into this situation?
Bill says
What do you think Ellen White would say about this? The direction the Seventh Day Adventist church is headed down the wrong road. The General Conference knows what they are doing.
I’m asking all Adventist to email Ted Wilson the so call president of the general conference to either change the direction and put us back on the right road in the right direction. If not, he needs to step down. He can be voted out. We know what he did at the general conference along with a few others.
Jackie says
Looks like we are heading in the wrong direction and following after the beast, what is this world coming to, yes the time will, come when it will rear up and if you don’t follow they will persecute us..and blame us for all,the evils of the world, God help us to stay strong
Robert says
“Will the churches heed the Laodicean message? Will they repent, or will they, notwithstanding that the most solemn message of truth—the third angel’s message—is being proclaimed to the world, go on in sin? This is the last message of mercy, the last warning to a fallen world. If the church of God becomes lukewarm, it does not stand in favor with God any more than do the churches that are represented as having fallen and become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and the cage of every unclean and hateful bird. Those who have had opportunities to hear and receive the truth and who have united with the Seventh-day Adventist church, calling themselves the commandment-keeping people of God, and yet possess no more vitality and consecration to God than do the nominal churches, will receive of the plagues of God just as verily as the churches who oppose the law of God. Only those that are sanctified through the truth will compose the royal family in the heavenly mansions Christ has gone to prepare for those that love Him and keep His commandments.” {19MR 176}
