Conditions in Western Christianity are deteriorating every day. The church is under attack from both within and from without. Secular, liberal ideas have become the greatest and most damaging threat today. Various homosexual and transgender lobbing groups are advancing a full-scale, sexual revolution within Adventism.
Many Seventh-day Adventist pastors, churches and students within our educational institutions have bought into the LGBT+ agenda. While some have capitulated to the gay and trans lobby, others are silent on this issue and have allowed this assault to come upon the church without offering any kind of resistance or protest.
The Intercollegiate Adventist Gay-Straight Coalition [IAGC] was created to support members of the LGBT+communities within Seventh-day Adventist institutions of higher learning. The IAGC claims to have a growing presence at several Adventist Universities including Andrews University, La Sierra University, Pacific Union College, Southern Adventist University and others. [1]
These LGBT+ support groups are being run by students enrolled at these universities. Their primary objective is to seek to “bridge the LGBTQ community and the Seventh-day Adventist community within the academic setting.” [2] Members of the Intercollegiate Adventist Gay-Straight Coalition are also trying to create in Seventh-day Adventist institutions “a community of fellowship that affirms diversity while sowing seeds of love.” [2]
Who are we trying to please, God or man? Whenever we embrace or allow the world’s agenda to be taught in our churches and schools we are in essence truing our backs to God and opening the door to moral relativism – the humanistic teaching that says that truth and morality have no absolutes.
The leaders of the radical, secular LGBT+ lobby celebrate every time they see their agenda openly being promoted by more and more Christian institutions. We are losing the war. While LGBT+activists continue their fight, Seventh-day Adventists keep surrendering. Instead of standing for our core, Biblical teachings on sexuality, we put up a white flag of surrender whenever we allow a secular, sexual agenda to be promoted in Seventh-day Adventists campuses.
Our schools and universities should be places for debate and discussion. But our core Biblical belief on human sexuality is one of our non-negotiable truths that will keep the church from being torn apart by sexual anarchists. Departing from the Biblical teachings established by God on sexuality would lead to apostasy, heresy, revolution and chaos.
This is the confusion that theological revisionists are seeking to bring into the church. Some are trying to rewrite the long-standing teachings of Scripture in order to justify something that God’s word simply doesn’t justify. God’s word has to be the cornerstone and the reference point on all things. It teaches us to be loving and accepting – but not to the point where we no longer believe in anything.
