The Union Between Protestantism and Catholicism

The task of preaching the everlasting gospel and delivering the final three warning messages must be completed with great force. “For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.” Romans 9:28.

“The United States,” the North American writer Ellen G. White reports in her book The Great Conflict p. 578, “is the power represented by the beast with lamb-like horns, and that this prophecy will be fulfilled when the United States shall enforce Sunday observance, which Rome claims as the special acknowledgment of her supremacy. But in this homage to papacy the United States will not be alone.”

The United States is the greatest power in the world today, but it will not be alone in choosing and glorifying the Papacy. Revelation 17:12–13 makes clear that the ten horns will give power and authority to the Pope to lead the world, and Revelation 13:12 makes clear that the United States will promote the Papacy so that the Earth will worship him. The United States does not act independently of the hidden forces of the world’s governmental elite (the Masonry elite, the Order of Skull & Bones, the Illuminati, and other groups). There are hidden powers and secret societies that are clad with so much power in the government of this world that resisting them would result in financial and political suicide.

Nobody is aware of the invisible forces that control the world. “Satan is standing ready, burning with zeal to inspire the whole confederacy of satanic agencies, that he may cause them to unite with evil men and bring upon the believers of truth speedy and severe suffering,” Testimonies, Vol. 9, p. 242. Regardless of who holds the office of president of the United States—a Democrat or a Republican—the Secret Brotherhood’s shadowy forces are in power.

According to the prophecy, they are like kings, but without any visible throne. They are clad with such authority that they influenced the extinction of the former Soviet Union, ended the Cold War and toppled the Berlin Wall. Before this, the churches that have been deceived and which constitute spiritual Babylon, will go mad and influence the state power to bring persecution upon the servants of God and impose compliance with the sign of the beast by law.

“And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Revelation 12:17). In the near future we shall see these words fulfilled as the Protestant churches unite with the world and with the papal power against commandment keepers. The same spirit which actuated papists in ages past will lead Protestants to pursue a similar course toward those who will maintain their loyalty to God.”

“Church and state are now making preparations for the future conflict. Protestants are working in disguise to bring Sunday to the front, as did the Romanists. Throughout the land the papacy is piling up her lofty and massive structures, in the secret recesses of which her former persecutions are to be repeated. And the way is preparing for the manifestation, on a grand scale, of those lying wonders by which, if it were possible, Satan would deceive even the elect.”

“The same masterful mind that plotted against the faithful in ages past is still seeking to rid the earth of those who fear God and obey His law. Satan will excite indignation against the humble minority who conscientiously refuse to accept popular customs and traditions … By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near” (Testimonies, volume 5, pages. 449-451).

These predictions, based on Biblical prophecies, were made in 1885 by the writer Ellen G. White, when there was no prospect of a union between Protestantism and Catholicism. These two religious systems existed at the time and were mortal enemies. The United States, which is primarily a Protestant nation, allows for complete religious freedom. And when it was said that the American nation would in the future adopt measures of religious intolerance and that Protestantism would give one hand to Catholicism and the other to Spiritualism, and that the Church was to unite with the State, they said this prediction was unfounded and absurd. However, today, as you can all see, the path to the fulfillment of these Bible-based predictions is being quickly and surely prepared.

According to the prophecy, the United States will not only grow closer to the Vatican, but will also work to honor and strengthen papal influence around the world. The USA will compel everyone to worship the beast (Rome) that emerges from the sea.
